English is my native language, and I have taught English as second language. I speak American English and do not score in the highest ranks of British English tests. I love grammar, have a deep understanding of it. We can say I am "old school." But, truly, the best goal is to be able to communicate. Do not worry about "correct" grammar, unless you are writing a formal paper, speech, or PhD thesis. Prepositions: British people say "at the weekend" while Americans say "on the weekend." Fear not! Learn to speak by speaking confidently. If your listener understands you, you have succeeded. Ask for clarification. And remember, two people who speak the same language do not always understand each other.

Actually the advanced level mentioned in the video is quite far from it. There could be atleast 3-4 more levels over and above the ones in the video. After a certain point it's about how deep your vocabulary is and your knowledge about the phrases, idioms, etc. The time constraint can surely make an easy question challanging.
A1-A2: 14/15 B1-B2: 14/15 C1-C2: 13/15 I really enjoyed your lessons they really helped me through this journey and you are an amazing teacher thank you so much.
As a native Englishman, I answered every question correctly. If, however, you had questioned me on the grammatical constructions, I may have not done so well. I can never understand why language teaching insists on learning grammar and rules instead of just learning how people actually speak. Who, apart from scholars, really cares about what a verb tense is called or what a second conjunction is? I always recommend that people listen to English TV programs without subtitles and read novels. That is the best way to learn, short of just talking to native speakers.

I'm a native American English speaker and I missed a level B question. With the time pressure and some long sentences, it is definitely not that easy of a test. Normally I'm not a big fan of level tests, but with you, my favourite teacher, I could enjoy it this time :) Thanks a lot. As for English level, I think having good conversation skills is way more important than exam results. My friends, don't forget that all that matters is to be able to speak fluently. Nobody cares your little grammar mistakes. So, take a deep breath and enjoy your learning journey :) Greetings from Turkey :)
I agree with you about conversation skills but as a non native speaker, understanding and knowing my level through one of those official English tests has helped me in my application for university studies and remote work. In the past, I would write in my application letter, “I speak English fluently.” What does that mean to a recruiter? For jobs that require high English proficiency, I now only mention my level, the name of the test I took (TOEFL) and link the explanation of the level from a test prep site. 😁
Birader Turkey diye bir şey yok artık. Turkiye diyeceksin. And as for your comment, I totally disagree with the part where you thought speaking fluently was all that mattered. @@pasqualemorsilli4755 I started striving hard in order to polish my english.
You are right

Thanks a lot Emma! I love self validation. :-) To be fair, there were a few questions where there were multiple possibly correct answers, depending on context. Also, sometimes I nearly ran out of time reading the question to find the answer.
Exactly, depending on context too, all airliners use, the term "an economy class" no economical class, and many natives like you say in the movies, hard language instead of strong language and so on...
@@quazisir The question wasn't talking about an economy class though. To say an "economy way" is incorrect. As a native, I've also never heard someone say "hard language" as a synonym for strong language.

Hi Emma. I just stumbled across your video. My score: A1-A2: 15/15, B1-B2: 15/15, C1-C2: 15/15. I’m 61 and have worked as an editor/proofreader for 36 yrs., so I’d better ace it. (Truth be told, I was a little nervous on some in the C section.) This will be helpful for my Portuguese-speaking friend who is still learning English. Thank you!
I am a journalist of some 7 years and I had 15/15, 13/15, and 14/15. I was crushed but I think it was the timing that threw me off.
Should I be worried?
@@livinggreen7630 Don´t worry, I learnt english for 14 years (because of schools I went to and I think my level is pretty good) and I got 14/15, 13/15 and 13/15; and btw the timing was an issue for me also (I don't live in an english speaking country but I do read a lot of books in english)

1. "Aldo" is not a word, it's spelled "although"
2. ...movies *that* are subtitled... Because "who" is for people. You can also just skip that word and say "by watching movies subtitled over here" (ah, also it's spelled "over here" it's 2 words, not one 😊)
If you have more questions, feel free to ask me, I hope I'll be able to help you.

THank you very much, our lovely English teacher, Mrs. Emma, being an English teacher is a great profession, thank your very useful efforts, we will learn English and we can know the whole world, because English has already become the world-language number 1. I thank you very much again for your very useful and great English videos. Orhan Baki, Şenlikköy-İstanbul/Turkey.
Hi Emma :) How is your holiday going? Well, I got 44 out of 45. I got a little hesitation between on the whole and in the whole.
I have met native people who don't really care about small mistakes, but instead of feeling embarrassed they help you to literally keep trying.
No! correct usage of vocabulary in the appropriate context is much more important than fluency. Şaka maka gramerin gayet düzgün, bizim milletten pek çıkmaz böyle işler biliyorsun. I wish a başarılı and prosperous bir hayat to you.
In the end that motivation u gave to pplz like me that nobody cares for little grammar mistakes and what matter is speaking fluently ...Thank a million dear
@@airmag I am afraid with your comment 😀
