I sew my own clothes and thus retain piles of scrap fabric of everything I make. And now I want to make another hat! I'd be thrilled to see you make a sewn hat, and perhaps sewn accessories/decorations for hats, if you only have a little bit of your dress fabric left. Also, your outfits and makeup were fantastic and so flattering, it was lovely to see!

Oh, your hats should be on the Mrs Maisel series!
I adore your pink feather hat, because my mum used to wear one in black feathers in the 60s, & your purple octopus hat. The swirly block is so versatile I'd imagine, for any age group.
The use of blue & green was fantastic during the show, & the brilliant Marin Hinkle, who played her mother sported some showstoppers, too. I've always thought if Mother Nature can combine colours, I can too, so when I was young, I used to deliberately use combinations like that. The costume on this show is after mine own heart, & I just love your appraisals of them. The genius of that pale blue wide-brimmed hat echoing the boat neck on Mrs Maisel's dress was just sublime. Added blue glass earrings. Wow!

I love the combination of the pink dress and the blue sewn straw hat. I have one blue hats from the 40s and one from the 80s and pink ones from the 50s. I love that one can match the blue one easily. And I adore your purple hat.

I enjoyed this video so much! I haven't watched the most recent season of Mrs. Maisel but will start soon. I have a love for blue-reds and "berry" colors, so my favorite outfits of hers are those in shades of mulberry, plum, raspberry, blueberry, and burgundy. However, the fresh green and bright blue combination was so striking that I pinned it to my "pairings to try" Pinterest board.

    An afterthought,
Could you talk about working with face shapes (mine is long and narrow), and working around glasses?
I've always been told that I shouldn't wear hats because I wear glasses (which have to be at least a certain size because they're no-line bifocals), and that with a hat and glasses "There's just too much going on and it doesn't look good."
    Thoughts?

Another great, fascinating video Ilona. Love the way you changed your outfits, they were beautiful and also really matched your skin tone too! Thanks so much for guiding us again in the world of hats. (BTW - I would love to hear your thoughts on hats we could wear to work, on a train/bus commute. They're an absolute staple to keep warm, but usually they end up being some cheap beanie. It would be so nice to make a hat which is warm but stylish) 😁😊

    These principles are very interesting.
I've recently begun headcovering and have so far been limited to headscarves because hats, other than stocking caps, sun hats and ball caps, are so difficult to find and expensive to purchase so I'd love to see you tackling sewn hats from readily available patterns -- with fitting tips, please?

That was so lovely! The care you took to emulate the outfits you talked about. I‘d wear hats whenever I‘m out and about, but alas, my primary method to get from A to B is the bicycle and I have short hair, so a hat pin is no use and and a hat band is not a good look, especially not for softer, crinklier elderly jaw- and necklines.

Please accept my apologies for drawing attention to two green tones you wore together. Indoors the same two greens works well together. Maybe it is the effect of natural light. Some greens have white base others have green base, photography makes the difference more noticeable but may not to the eye’s perception. It seems to happen when base colours are mixed. It looks right. Photographs amplify difference.

I'm not sure how I got here .... I am a frumpy single mum ... Who lives in Queensland - we see hats very differently here. Hats are for sun protection. "No hat no play" "Slip,Slop,Slap"
Despite high fashion hats being quite removed from my everyday life - I really enjoy your channel. I love learning about the strange ( to me) and wonderful world of high fashion hats. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

I'm very late to this video because I didn't realize that you had done a video on Mrs. Maisel but I have often thought that Rachel Brosnahan looks a bit like a young Princess Margaret from certain angles. I always liked Princess Margaret's hats which were often smaller and dresses were very feminine.
