    The biggest advantage that O.C. has over its neighbors is we are not as old as San Diego or L.A.. I grew up in B.P. and as a young guy with a long with some friends we could and did surf and ski on the same day Big Bear or Wrightwood to the Huntington Beach is under 2 hours. Your change of seasons/ cities.

    You are so right about home prices. In 2003 I bought a 3 bedroom 2 1/2 bath townhome in lake forest 1568 sq feet for 203,000. It can now go for alittle over 600,000. There is no way I could buy it now.

    We live about 20 miles west of Ft Worth//Dallas area, we have been here about 4 years and every day I wish I could be back in Orange County CA. Just like you say California is not for everyone I feel this way about Texas. The housing market is what's keeping us from moving back.... I miss the weather, Newport Beach, beaches in general, parks, Disneyland, the Mountains, food, etc..... don't be fooled Texans don't know how to drive in the rain either or period..... car insurance is so expensive here..... thank you for the content. I really enjoy watching you two ☺ 😁

      Same remorse; different year LOL The cycle replays over and over. CA residents take CA for granted; think the grass is greener or cheaper or better elsewhere ... then ... remorse. But too late; cannot afford to return; now out of sync when if they'd stayed they'd be $$$$ up. The 80s; the 90s; etc and NOW, just another cycle that will wash out the dreamers and reward the keepers. Just a matter of time for most to feel the regret. Ask me how I know LOL Made the mistake twice; but fate allowed reversals.

      Yes, that is true. The cookie-cutter homes definitely are most common in South OC :)

      Bob, you’re absolutely right. But those start at 3million dollars. Sean, you should talk about MCM , Eichler homes of Central and North OC. Or maybe talk about the old custom homes of Irvine , 405 side.

    We lived in Aliso Viejo these past 14 years and have decided to move to Santa Barbara county (Santa Maria, my husband’s hometown) because the cost of living here is absolutely ridiculous and getting worse. My husband makes 200k and we’re barely scraping by. We have our first baby on the way this October and we found ourselves having to shop at second hand stores to get her the essentials. This is insane! If we move up to Santa Maria, we will be able to save 6k per month!!

    • @Thiiink
      @Thiiink 2 года назад +2

      16k a month? Stop buying luxuries dummy

    • @PelosiStockPortfolio
      @PelosiStockPortfolio 2 года назад +2

      @@Thiiink It doesn't have to do with luxuries. Take home pay on 200k salary is a little over 10k per month. In Aliso Viejo, 6k of that goes to a mortgage payment. After all the necessities are paid for (car payment, gas, groceries, etc), you MIGHT have enough left to save for retirement, but not retirement and kids. You need 300k+ salary to live in a nice part of OC and save for retirement and have kids. 400k+ is where you can have retirement, kids, and luxuries.

    • @Thiiink

      @@PelosiStockPortfolio i live similar situation minus as far as net income is concerned. I decided to stay single and help my parents pay their mortgage. I do however might not have a family here due to what you just stated.
      Making arrangements in a pro family friendly country is my vision.

    Cars a requirement all over USA except for NYC. Above average earning residents of NY, DC, SF, Bay Area, and Seattle residents still have a car for “road trips” to escape the city. Traffic in TX, FL, NY, Bay Area, and DC are horrific. In LA/OC at least you can turn off the road and do something else rather than wait in traffic. You need to talk about energy savings due to good weather in California and good schools which is a savings.

      @@paulz4667 Never been to Boston, but I heard thr weather is great during Winter time. Chicago, you’re right, but Chicago has great weather during Winter and Summer time! Chicago isn’t that great unless you live in Wicker Park, and honestly its kinda dangerous. SF lost its charm over a decade ago.

    At least maybe a good thing about the high prices (along with planned communities, especially along with not overdeveloping like LA) is that it keeps the bad people away.

    • @frankpercival
      @frankpercival 2 года назад

      The bad people are usually rich. Some are scammers and drug dealers.
