Comparing Freddie Mercury and Gary Lawyer is like chalk and cheese - I am a huge fan of both Freddie Mercury and Gary Lawyer but they are not of the same class - Freddie was a pioneer, Gary at best a 'hair metal' singer - but once the genre had given way to Grunge. I respect Gary no doubt but comparing him to Freddie is getting carried away
he did not want to be that. he wanted to chill and be in one city and play. he was never into mass touring and recording. he did not want to have managers, promoters and lawyers.
There's just one problem though, Gary doesn't have a vocal range that's even 1/4th of what Freddie's was. Freddie single handedly made underground androgynous rock cool and mainstream. Without him there would be no punk, no grunge, and no underground rock. The dude was beyond anybody's imagination! And if you don't believe me, you can look for his isolated vocals on RUclips for any of his songs. I'm not shitting on Gary, but comparing a pop-rock singer to a literal God is blasphemous.

I was lucky to have heard him play at at Not Just Jazz by the Bay many years ago. 2004 ! 😊 it was one of the last few gigs at Jazz before it closed ! He ended it with Road house Blues! 😊🤘🤘🤘Epic performance! I also met his wife at an orphanage function around 3 years back. We miss him.

From all the guitarists that Gary has mentioned in his interviews for the time period when this song was out it matches. Look him up on the net. He's quite the legend among indian guitarists. Career span from 1967 ..he sadly passed away in 2021 I believe.
