I think like many things it is flawed in some way, but I would agree this game is near perfection especially on the gameplay front. Appreciate the support, and the positivity!
The most important detail about these encounters are when you kill the "nameless" npcs, their friends call out their names in anguish. This fills the players heads with endless possibilities of the life the npcs had. That ultimately leads to feeling of killers remorse come the end of the game. That's the pain and trauma/ptsd you're experiencing with Ellie when shes at the house with the baby. And its especially painful when she returns home to find a cold empty shell reflective of the hollow killer shes become. All but her guitar. Which is the light a joel and spark of her heart that ellie hasn't fully lost her humanity. The reminder she must carry is loss of her finger. Greatest Story ever told and one day players will be able to peel back all the layers and see it for themselves outside of the echo chambers of the internet telling them what it woke. Yes it woke for the sake of enlightenment.

I don’t even discuss the story myself unless it’s a chat between me and fellow supporters. Is the story perfect, no. There are many flaws, one glaring flaw being the time between Abby getting to Jackson and actually finding Joel. It was very obviously shoehorned in. But do I sit back under people’s gaming videos and type “Abby shouldn’t have been able to find Joel that quickly”? Especially on a video that isn’t remotely even discussing the story?
