As a PNW steelheader I leaned the best fit for me is some $5 full finger wool gloves with nitrile over them, keeps my warm layer protected and dry as well as letting me handle fish.
@@papichulo1843 they make different size nitrile gloves bro😂
A non-glove but good piece of advice I picked up on youtbue was tuck one or two golf towels in side your waders or jacket to dry your hands off immediately after getting wet hands. Helps keep your hands warm in cold weather and protects the fish because you are handling them gloveless...
Surprised to learn sun gloves aren't okay for handling fish. I usually just wet my hands with the gloves on before I handle them, but I will need to amend my ways.
as a Great Lakes rainbow angler I agree with this message 🫡
So glad someone finally said something about the nitrile gloves. I never got why people used those.
Yep, in my experience (not while fishing) they suck the heat out of your hands quickly enough where you might as well just have wet hands
Rudy’s a Good dog! More Rudy videos! Good information Ben. In Texas it’s Sun gloves for me. Have a Huge week yall. 👍🐶🦴🎣
I have the fingerless neoprene. I leave the in my fishing bag that I always take with me. I always remember them in the winter ( I live the Rockies). But I alway forgot them in the spring to fall until I started just leaving them in my fishing bag. They have saved the day a few times when you get snow/ rain or heavy wind in March/ April and September/ October
Melanoma is a real thing, fishing 3 to 4 days a week in the summer. So sun gloves are a must for me. Now that being said getting sun gloves wet and managing the fish in the net for a quick release is the way to go. A rubber bag net and wet sun gloves works. I try to never hold the fish. I shoot video with a multi camera setup on the boat. So a grip and grin shot is just not necessary. What's your opinion of my method Ben?
Family history of melanoma (mother and brother have both had early stage 1's cut out of them), I'll usually wear sungloves, but the combo of a rubber net and barbless flies, the flies are normally really easy to get out without touching the fish, then the fish will get a dump in straight from the net
Once again, you are right on point!! 😎👍✌️🇺🇸🙏
I use some adhesive type bandage tape to wrap around my index fingers at the top joint to prevent getting cut (when fishing for bass too) but that's all (as we don't get that cold in Africa :). Good video, thanks.
Needed this one. Thanks.
I bet Curitis Flemming wears gloves
Lmfao 😂. Your videos are great!! Crack me up.
Thanks
Damn thanks for the info. I thought the Simms sun gloves were ok to handle fish since they’re made by Simms. I assumed they would have made them out of a fish safe material. We need fish-safe sun gloves ! Sunburnt hands sucks
a message to you, Rudy: you are a good dog.
Kind of special what you did there.
Nitriles are the goat
Rudy giving us those judgmental looks at the end of
Here s a question for you ,,,If Typically your supposed to fly fish up stream how come your always rowing down stream and fishing down stream ,,I always fly fish down stream and i catch tons of fish but ,,,in all these Fly fishing videos i watch everyone talks about how you should always be casting up stream ,,,,if i was in a boat are we up or down streaming
Good Rudy
More Rudy please.
I learned things.
Agree with not handling fish with gloves. As for fishing, golf gloves work well for me. Doesn't look as stupid as having #16 barbed hook surgically removed....I wasn't even casting it.
Trust Rudy.
Also don't "dry hand" fish. See too many people reach right in and grab fish... wet 'em first!!
😉
Wool bum gloves if its below 30 degree water temp. Otherwise none.
Most people who wear gloves are doing it more as a fashion statement or over the top accessorizing/consumerism. The amount of people wearing stupid simms sun gloves on a cloudy day holding fish just to look cool is lame.
Also, those jabronis that love to wear the black nitrile gloves as if they're about to squeeze brisket juice out of a trout, lmao
You probably need a fly fishing helmet too to go with the gloves. Ya know, cuz ya wanna be "safe". Right up there with the "fly rod vault" the babies buy and leave on top of their SUV's all year long. Cuz gearing up is soooooooo difficult.
