I love this aspect. Being able to get it now. I've used the energizer for about a year and it's been totally fine, but the whole Walmart gear thing, totally down with it!
Nice video Aaron, I like the concept of checking out inexpensive readily available gear. If I can make one suggestion, after you review the walmart gear you could also suggest a piece of gear available online that would be comparably priced but that would be better than the options availble at Walmart. for example, you can snag a Princton Tech Headlamp online for around the same price that would blow both of those lamps out of the water. it'd give people the ability to choose between picking up an instantly availble good walmart item, or an even better item that they might have to wait a few days to receive. Plus it'd allow you to make a little bit of extra money through Amazon referals. Just a thought. Thanks for the great videos!
I got one of the Energizer headlamps at the checkout of a Home Depot in 2014.. I still use it. Been through rain snow. Six months in a bag outside cause I forgot about it. Things a beast and won’t quit. I bought cause I had one project where I was gonna be crawling in the dark and didn’t wanna carry a hand flashlight. It’s worth $20 for dang sure. I even left the original pair of batteries in over a year and they didn’t leak and ruin the interior like I’ve had in times past. Great product.
Not available on Walmart (or any physical stores) but the wowtac a2 is a good headlamp for a similar price ($19). 18650 light (USB rechargable battery included), 550 lumens and aluminum body.
I prefer flashlights that take common everyday AA or AAA batteries. If you are out in the middle of nowhere and need to charge your dead batteries, or your charger dies for what ever reason you have a problem. Carrying a few extra common batteries is very easy. Or even if you need to buy some, they are readily available.
I prefer to buy my gear off Amazon, but I like the idea of this series. At my local Walmart, they do actually carry UST stuff in the camping section, sometimes at a better price then Amazon.
Bought the 200 lumen everready about a month ago...damn my Surefire lovin' arse but I love it. Mostly use it to take the dogs out at nite etc... I think your idea for wally world scenerios is great. I travel for work and frequently have to make something out of nothing. Good call!
Thank you for the video. I've been debating on getting that Bushnell headlamp because I have two other Bushnell's, one being a free headlamp from Marlboro, and never had an issue with either. This is good to know and saves me a couple trips to Walmart. So thank you again.
Aaron great review, simple, accurate, unbiased, to the point. Looking forward to future Walmart series gear reviews. I bought the Ozark trail YETI (Wannabe) because of your review. I am a subscriber.
My buddy had a bushnell headlamp and he switched back to energizer because it ate batteries. Personally speaking I prefer my energizer headlamp not a lot of light is needed. Personally I’ve never broke one throughout the years but I have seen one break and it wasn’t it’s fault. Dropped a heavy peice of ice on it, half the lights went out instead of all of them. Oh and battery life seems to be amazing on all the energizers I’ve had. I’ve had one on from sunset to sunrise once and it was still usable.
When I worked in aircraft fuel tanks we would use the energized headlamps. They were ok. They were reliable but eventually the plastic wears out and the head will point down all the time.
I have a Bushnell from wallmart, the Pro 300 lumen. It's not bad for the price being rechargable and all but the battery life is somewhat lacking. Works well for around the house stuff , I wouldn't take it out in the wilderness though. I have used it night fishing in low temps and didn't experience the issues you did.
so i picked up one of those energizers today and i just want to note that mine has 6 different angles you can adjust it to and it seems much less snappy which makes it feel more durable
Thank you so much I actually seen this light at my Walmart and was going to get it but I'm glad you did a test and review on it because most of the time when I be using that light it would be out in the cold so thank you
I’ve got 2 bushnells exactly like u have and the problem with mine is the bright setting runs less than an hour and in turn will keep you from being able to use low beam. But if you just use low beam, works well and no issues with the “blood light/red light”. I’ve ran low beam, red, & blood light all night for a couple of nights with no issues, it’s just the high beam for some reason is flawed.
i got the 250 lumen bushnell and used it in summer a few times. great for grilling never used it in winter or cold fall weather yet. browning has some nice ones i saw. i did just order a browning flashlight not a headlight it was$ 16 ebay and it a prohunter has white and a green 70 lumen light which is why i got it the bushnell does hav ethe bloodtraker mode which ilove on it great for indoor use
Sounds like a battery issue with the Bushnell. Alkalines produce less power when cold. Energizer uses 3 batteries so has more power even when cold. Try taking the batteries out and warming them in your hand, not practical but to confirm is battery issue. Bushnell might also work if you turn it on at low brightness. Or use disposable lithium batteries, 1.7 volts not lithium-ion, which work better than alkalines in the cold.
apparently Bushnell's quality control was not awake when your models were made. I have a headlamp that I have had for many years and still works fine. nice idea with these comparison videos, this should help out lots of people
Thank you I'm really tired of watching Gear reviews that there is no possibility of me being able to buy I'm not spending $100 on the flashlight as much as I'd love the warrior. Thanks again for this series, can't wait to see what's next. Be Blessed.
I think Lumens are what the bulb is capable of putting out and not what the light actually does. The reflectors and the lense also play a part in how bright it really gets. I own an Energizer 400 rechargeable....carry a 20KmA battery pack to charge my phone and light....and it does really good. I also own a few Streamlights and Petzl's and they are far better....but like you said....for the money.....the Energizer works.
I have had 4 bushnell flashlights from walmart, I got a single AA one and I liked it so much I got three of the double AA for around the house. Well within a few months two of the doubles would not work, they caused the batteries to leak and corrode everything. The single AA had the blue and red LED bulbs die and then would just randomly die while on. I gave the last one to a friend who was walking home and he said it died about a minute from his house. So all in all do not recommend bushnell lights
i have stopped buying expensive headlamps and gone almost totally to energizer. i usually get the 19 dollare one with red light. you can pick them up at lowes or walmart and they are rugged enough. and for the price i can have plenty of them all over the place.
Check out Foxelli lamps on Amazon. You can get a USB rechargeable headlamp (with red light) starting around $15 and they are much better than anything sold at wallyworld. Mine get used almost every night and I'm not easy on them, or my dog isn't I should say. hehe I hang one on his neck while I sit by the fire pit and he runs all over the yard, bouncing it, shaking it, banging into stuff... great lights.
Wish I would have watched this before I bought the bushnell I’m a local truck driver in Wisconsin and within 5 mins of being in the cold it shut off ended up throwing away the receipt and box so I bought another one to see if it worked and it seems to be doin fine even stuck it in the snow for 10mins and it still worked idk I guess it all depends
Can you do a comparison of a Bushnell 75L cap light (from Walmart) and Energizer 85L cap light (from Target)? They both under $10 bucks and it's a flashlight that's clip on your hat.
I bought the same bushnell headlamp right before hog hunting trip and had the same or similar issue happen.. contacted Bushnell about issue and they said that walmart bushnell headlamps are made by different company🤔.
You need to check out the Streamlight Bandit. USB rechargable, 180lumens, flood light. I can recharge mine easily from dead to full right off my backpack solar panel. $20 give it a test!
I'd much rather have the Princeton Tec Sync, which I was able to pick up for less than $15 delivered. 150 lumens with a red light function. Dependable PT quality and a great price! Foxelli also makes a great low cost rechargeable 250 lumen headlamp.
You have a RUclips channel. You're tacticool. You have a beard. You wear 550 chord bracelets in your backyard. You must be from Seal Team 6. Thanks for the extremely valuable information.
Got an Energzer in 2010, took it on many backpacking trips. Older model of course - still works today!
shcmoly that is awesome
can you see everything in your way in the wood hiking camping even????
I love this aspect. Being able to get it now. I've used the energizer for about a year and it's been totally fine, but the whole Walmart gear thing, totally down with it!
Mike Burrell sweet!

I love this idea! The budget category seems like an area that a lot of reviewers just don't do. Looking forward to more.
Agree Brian

I hate that the Bushnell failed! I have a Bushnell flashlight that has served me very well as an cheap EDC flashlight.

Cool concept GT! Waiting for EDC flashlights, and very interested in what else you cover, this looks like a great "Tag" Video idea 😎

JB Monty thanks for joining the GT family

you only get 100 lumens per segment
I bought a 150 Lumen Energizer headlamp on sale at Menards for $10, and a 50 Lumen for $5. .. Have had both almost a year & both STILL work great.
Looking forward to see where this series goes, thanks for doing this.

As long as you're in a place that sunny, right?
180 lumen no good son
you need 300 or more

Dependable PT quality and a great price!
Foxelli also makes a great low cost rechargeable 250 lumen headlamp.
Msilverhammer He did say that there are better ones on the market, but this was what you could pick up at Wal-Mart if that was the only option.
Darth Croll There are always other options!
Good stuff and a great concept!
Great video “tape” showing the “bulbs” :)
Thanks, I was looking for a headlamp for hunting and I was considering the Bushnell do you have any other suggestions for a AA headlamp.
Fenix HL55
Love the series!!!!!

Both $15 lights are bad but one is really bad. Got it.
DamionJR4923 haha you got it
DamionJR4923 Nah the energizer isn't bad for what it is.
I use it for trick or treating it works flawlessly good!
Cold solder joint.
I’ve got the Energizer in my glovebox.
I have an Energizer headlamp in an emergency kit that I have never changed the batteries in 6years.
What about waterproof?
Daniel Wellborn I believe they are both weather resistant, no water resistant or waterproof though.
The correct choice is to save for a Princeton Tec. Lol.
Hello Gideon You might want to check out the atomic beam head light in the future.
Energizer Vision HD is white only but Vision HD+ has white and red LEDs.
Yes but red is just for to not wake up people up
Man couldn't you pick a store with better business practices
You mean one that lies more?
The petzl has absolutely the best pivot system by miles.
