That link is for a CR1632 battery.
Wrong battery, this is a link for a CR1632. Don't buy the battery linked here
Hi. I changed my battery a few weeks ago, and it was fine, but now my key hob is acting up. It looks like I have to replace that CR2016 again. How long is the life span of this battery?
Crazy, the Dealership told me that I would have to pay $100 for a whole new key. Paid 6$ for a new battery and all is well. You saved me $94. Defiantly subbing
What's worse is that they'll charge people $1000s for their internal coverage for that key and it'll cost a fraction of that to just get a new one yourself along with the battery.
Dealerships suck.
Dealerships are a bunch of crooks. I just changed my battery too. Cost me only $1.25 for a three pack of CR 2016 at the local dollar store.
never trust dealerships or politicians
Fantastic! Bought 20 batteries on Amazon for 6 bucks, and changed both FOBs in about 5 minutes. Thanks
Perfect video. Didn't take up a bunch of time talking about it, just got down to how it's done. Thank you very much!
I swear, I already tried these exact steps multiple times and the damn thing still wasn't working. Then I followed along with you, step by step, and like magic! it's working! Thank you!
WE ALL STRUGGLE LIKE THIS? I WAS LOOKING FOR THE SCREWS ON THE KEY BECAUSE THEY BEFORE HAD TWO SCREWS, AND NOW NOTHING, UNTIL I SAW THIS VIDEO AND DID IT STEP BY STEP, BUT I ADDED A CLEAR TAPE THE ONES I USE TO PACKING UPS SO THE REMOTE CONTROL BUTTONS DON'T COME LOOSE
My wife told me today she had a problem with her key and was thinking about taking it to the dealer to get the battery changed. I guess we saved time and money with this tutorial. It took no more than 15 mins. picking up a battery at a nearby store and replacing the old one. Thank you very much. Very useful and detailed tutorial.
I have followed your steps and replaced the battery in no time. Thank you
I am literally the worst at fixing anything and this was SO helpful. Saved me from having to pay. Thanks so much ❤️
Can’t believe anyone would want money for a simple task! Horrible
Did both fobs in less than 15 minutes, thanks to you! Hardest parts were finding a screwdriver with blade small enough, and getting the new batteries out of the "child secure" packaging....
Thank you for the clear, concise instruction. I appreciate that you filmed up close with the white background for better viewing.
The battery for my 2017 Rav4 was a CR2032 and the reason I know this is because the last time I went to a car part place the salesman put it in for me and there were 2 in the package and I still had the 2nd battery. But thank you for your video as I couldn't remember how to take the key fob apart.
I'm hoping this is the same for my 2018 bc I already have a pack of those bc it's what my blood sugar monitor takes.
Your tutorial was so simple! I worked at a dealership and know how valuable this video is. Ordered a sleeve of CR2016 from Amazon ($3 and change for a 5pack).Followed the steps...took me less than a minute. Took more time getting the battery out of its protective casing ;-) Posted on Facebook how your video helped. Just finished my other key. Only a matter of time before it dies. Thank you so much...Great Video.
Huge service your channel is providing, we are saving money and doing it ourselves. Thank you!!
Great video. Used coins (dime & nickel) to pop the cases. Replaced the battery in kind (expiration date was 2033) and reassembled. Works great and saved $244.99 from my local hardware store key maker. Dealer prices are $400+. Thanks again!! By the way I checked the new button battery voltage which was 3.3 volts so it was not past it's expiration date.
Top notch video - No chaff and all information - Thanks for sharing!
MY KEY FOB BATTERY JUST DIED AND WALLAH, YOU VIDEO WAS HELPFUL. THANK YOU !!
My friend's Toyota Rav 4 -2017 didn't take a CR 2016, but rather a CR 2032 was there. Simple enough, we got that one. Cool video, super simple and clear instructions.
Yes you're right!
Great clear video. It saved me some time trying to replace the battery without instructions. Thanks!
Still helpful years later! Clear and concise, great video.
I thought this was a special procedure only done at the dealer. Bad service advisor for sure! Thank you for including the RAV4 year range. U R D best. Thank you!!!!! 😊
I was able to successfully change out my batteries in both fobs. Very easy to follow. Thank you.
This was super concise and useful. Thx a ton!
My 2017 Rav 4's was only working like 30% of the time. You bailed me out from manual/old school door opening. Lol
Thank you.
Very well done with concise, detailed instructions and good camera angles and close ups.
I remember having problems years ago when changing this battery and I forgot about the buttons falling out. 👍
Also don't forget to never throw batteries away. Most libraries and recycling centers will take them, or will at least know how to dispose off them properly!
Thank you! This was a great video. I successfully changed my battery in less than 5 minutes. It took me longer to buy the battery!
Thank you so much! Tutorial was clear and super easy to follow. You just saved me 60 bucks! 🎉🎉
The battery in one of my remotes died on my 2015 so I bought a two pack and changed both. After the change neither remote worked. The batteries I used were Duracell with the bitter childproof coating. Reading that other people were having issues with Duracell batteries, I switched to Energizers and both remotes worked perfectly. The Duracell’s had a use by date of 2031. I don’t know if I just got some bad ones or the coating had something to do with it, but they did not work at all. I did try cleaning the coating off with alcohol. The voltage was good at 3.2. I won’t be using Duracell’s anymore in remotes.
Thank you for this video I have been putting this off for almost 6 months now.
that was easy, no need to panic after all. Thank you
Thank you for showing this....turned out to be a lot easier than I thought.
Thanks. I just went to the dollar store and purchased a pack of 3 batteries for $1.30. So it cost me $0.50 to change each of the fobs, instead of paying the dealer an arm and a leg. Oh, and I used the change (a dime) to open it.
great video thanks, it's always nice to be able to watch a short video for something like this.
1st time I paid, after this video no more. Thanks to you.
Wow, I also have the problem with the battery. This video helped me a lot.Thank you so much for uploading this video.
Thank you for showing in clear detail! Your directions are great! :)
Tutorial was excellent and easy to follow steps.
Thank you so much!
Great video tutorial - very clear and easy to follow. I was able to replace the battery for both fobs. Thank you.
Yes. You talked me through it superbly. You are the car fob master! Thank you.
Short and to the point. Perfect.
You the man just what the doctor order ed clear and simple.
Easy instructions. Thank you so much. Very appreciative
changed the battery with a Duracell and it doesn't seem to be working. does the fob possibly need to be reprogrammed if the old battery had been dead for a while?
Edit: I took it apart again, and went to test just the battery-holding part. Battery may not have been fully seated. as I pressed each button I could feel the battery move. finally the car started to respond. reassembled and tested again successfully!
Thanks - worked great. I did inadvertently turn it so the buttons fell out when I was reassembling, but it was easy to put them back. So if they fall out, don't panic :-)
You’re the GOAT, I appreciate you for this 🐐
Thanks. Clearly stated, great lighting, I appreciate both.
Thanks to you, I changed it in 5 minutes or less! Bravo 🎉 thanks!
Awesome, quick and easy tutorial. It was very helpful, thanks.
The video is simple and very helpful. Thanks for the advise!
Much thanx for a clear and concise video.
Good and to the point. My 2013 Prius uses the exact same key fob and CR2016 battery.

He made it super quick and easy.
Easy peasy, lemon squeezy! Thanks for the instructive video.
$2.98 for mini screw driver at Home Depot, $6 gut TWO batteries, 3 min time. THANK YOU!!
Dollar store is even cheaper . I got a three pack of CR2016 for $1.25. Worked fine.
Wasn’t easy on mine but I did it. Thanks to your tutorial! Many thanks!!
Worked perfectly for me, thanks so much

Today i just exchanged battery myself!

Thank you! Clear directions!
YAY 🤩 I did it!
Excellent video, crystal clear…

😉👍🏻
I had trouble getting the battery in, but I finally did it. I had to push against 2 black things to slide it in! Now I will see if the battery works. It does! Hooray. Thank you.
Thank you. You made it simple to follow.
Thank you so much for sharing. Your video is really helpful I am so happy I can fixed the problem.
Thank you. I hope when I get out to my vehicle all will be well.
Hey man...thanks for the walk through. Spot on
first sign your rav4 is getting ,the key fob battery goes😆, great video!!
Thanks for making and sharing this video tutorial. Super helpful!
Just what I needed. Great video.
Did it first try! thank you so much!
Awesome clip, thanks. Tried to replace my two button RAV4 fob but did not have CR2016 on hand. So CR2032 proved to be way too thick, but CR2025 fit somehow with a small effort (still a bit too thick). Anyway, success - remote is back in action with the higher battery capacity, thanks again
Thanks for the video...VERY VERY helpful
Thank you VERY MUCH!!! I appreciate you, and God bless!!
Excellent tutorial... thanks so much!!
You are awesome. Thank you so much for the tutorial!!!
You are the best. So clear in your instructions. Thank you so much. I like the way you went slowly step by step.
Excellent teacher.☆☆☆☆ I will subscribe
Thank you I thought I'd need to pay a dealer a fortune for another key ! I'll try it.
This was so helpful. Thank you!!
Thank you so much 😊🥰
After replacing battery - the fob seems to require "reprogramming" to be recognized by the car -- various YT instructions have not worked -- do you know how to reset the fob? Thanks
Good job with good views. Thanks!
Thank YOU. works just like you said.
Thank you! That was so helpful.
This video was very helpful. Tnx.
Thank you - very helpful! Take care.
Thank you. Worked great!
Super helpful. Thank you!
IT WORKED FOR ME, THANKS SO MUCH,
Thanks for the tutorial, took like 1min lol
Thank you for this, My 2014 Rav4 i asked if they could change the batteries on mine at the dealership, here I am gullible thinking it would be free guy goes ahead and says it would cost $75 bucks, I was sooooo baffled by it $75 dollars but the batteries cost for 5 cr2016 at the local walgreens was like $2.45+ tax, that doesn’t justify 2 car keys $75 each 😂😂😂, greed.
That's awful. I worked at a tire shop though college and I would do them for free as long as the person had a battery on hand.
@ I know right now I know how to do it we dont need to pay for it.
Great tutorial. Thank you!
Your tip worked perfectly. Thanks :)
