From the wide range of local stores, delicious variety of food, strong coffee, the Standheaven brewery, beautiful views, plenty of parking, cute dogs and fun loving people, we tell you why we think the Shongweni Farmers Market is the best market in South Africa.
Join us as we show you why you have to visit this market if you are ever in the Hillcrest, KwaZulu Natal area. The Shongweni Market is open every Saturday morning from 06:30 to 12:30 midday. Make sure you go early to skip the queue!

From tomorrow our country is on Level 1 lockdown :) International travel will also be allowed from the middle of October, but will be a bit limited. Would be great if you visit South Africa one day!

Hey cheers from Canada. I lived in PMburg back in '95 for a bit. Watched polocrosse at the club there.
OMG only 2 days and ya'll hit 1.6 K That is fantastic!!! So crazy to see how packed the whole place is! OMG look at all of that amazing food. DONUT!!!! SO JEALOUS! Photobombs and live music too! What more can you ask for? All the drone shots are great too!

If you ever come to the Vaal Triangle for a visit have a chill ride on the river on a ship you'll really injoy that with a jacuzzi and all at Stonhaven on Vaal
Coffee, a sandwich, and pastries are the best way to start the day. Beer and pizza for lunch, you can’t beat it. That market is huge. The music sounds nice. I hope people do support the local businesses. Even the pets seem to love the market. Thanks for sharing and safe travels! :)

The food looks fantastic there. The entire market looked very clean and inviting. It was really nice that you used a drone as well when you were showing the parking.
Wow, what a stunning market. That cliff/valley view is incredible!! I (Ruth) am a SUCKER for a good farmers market. They are my favorite things. The best one I've been to is the one in downtown Des Moines, Iowa! It's probably safe to bet you've never heard of Des Moines, let alone been there? 😂Also, that pomegranate tea looked delicious!

We loveeee markets too! A top travel hack for us to experience local and unique foods! This place looks wonderful and if it were me, I’d be back there the next day for that strawberry pastry lol. PS glad your country is doing well after lockdown! It’s really nice to see people out & about (things are still quite tense here in northeast US)
Yes, markets is one of the best ways to experience a new country :) I'm still thinking of that strawberry pastry haha, we are definitely going back for it soon haha Hope things get better soon in the US! South Africa is going down to Level 1 lockdown from tomorrow and some international travel will start again from mid October, so things are looking up over here :)
I have never seen a farm market before and this is looking interesting! Glad everyone's wearing masks. Nice seating areas too! Love donut and never no to beer tasting lol nice shaded set up, it is important on the sunny days!! 🤗

What an awesome market!!!! We love markets especially for those chill vibes, great food and mostly the interesting people (&dogs) you meet. If I had to pick one market to tell you about I’d say the Daylesford market. We grew up about an hour away from it but when we got the chance we’d always go and enjoy it ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
