Getting goosebumps all over again, everytime I'm seeing this, I had the luck for an re-watch in cinema, and this opening-scene with this awesome song to experience on the big screen put me right 20 years back, great movie☺️
I disagree But I'm probably a small percentage that actually enjoyed the way the Director did it. It's the same with Lord of the Rings. I can only watch the extended versions because the theatrical just leaves out too much similar to this movie. The Director's Cut is the Director's Cut for a reason. ❤
This song is perfect for a reserved and sensitive character like Donnie Darko is. I like, I like the music of the post punk period too much like Echo and the Bunnymen, The Cure, Joy Division, The Sisters of Mercy, The Mission UK etc. Truly the darkest, deepest, most romantic music and lyrics make me feel warm inside.
DIRECTOR'S CUT IS SO MUCH BETTER. Once upon a time I purchased Donnie Darko the Director's Cut and the people who sent it to me basically told me they'd pray for me and sent me a book of Pslams. 😂😂😂😂 Now I am a Christian, but that was ridiculous and the movie itself is fantastic. Also, I'm baffled that so many "fans" hate the Director's cut... That is shokcing to me because the Director only changed one song and added more detail about why the end of the worls was actually happening. I enjoyed it the way the Director intended it. Shame that so many are against it.
Here's why many of us prefer the theatrical cut: The theatrical cut is very much open to the viewer's interpretation, while the director's cut spoon feeds you Kelly's intentions. We also tend to think the song choices and placements are better in the theatrical cut (it's not just one song difference, but the songs' placements in each cut), but I'd personally say the openness to interpretation is the far greater reason for preferring the theatrical cut.
Directors cut ruined this whole intro which was what reeled most of us into the mood of the film, and the unique part of this song on the original film is that it says "killing times" right as frank drives by. Like an easy music pun, but hey most directors cuts ruin movies anyways!
Nothing against INXS but "Killing Moon" is such a better music choice for this opening scene than what the director wanted. "Never tear us apart. ruclips.net/video/CJ7Fz3m485s/видео.html
I always loved the entry scene of the movie.I was always remembering the Killing Moon theme. However I recently saw again the movie to emphasize in details and suddenly the entering song is not the same.Wtf!I red somewhere that the director's cut changed the song because of the band rights or something like that.
This comment makes me sad... Why the hell are so many against what the DIRECTOR wanted? The Director's Cut explains so much more than what the theatrical version does. I'm just shocked that so many people hate the Director's version... like wtf... it's the same film.. they just added more information about why the end of the world was happening and changed one song that all of you seem to be butt hurt about.
this summers gonna be like this scene i can feel it now
Word for word, bar for bar.
Distant clouds
Wrong. You know it's election year, right? Not going to be a dreamy deadbeat summer like this scene. Quite the opposite my dear rufus
Stay away from the drugs out there as well friendo
it fuckin better be
Came here because I forgot they changed the intro song for the director’s cut. This is the real intro! Also one of my favorite movies.
Yeah, they use INXS on the Directors Cut, not as good for sure
HOW DARE THEY!!!!!
same here!!
@@dreamyprince97 to add to the DISGRACEFUL misuse of this song, it is now used in mobile Phone Network Advertising (EE in the UK)
This movie is a cult masterpiece and I will never let it go. One of Jake’s most magnificent roles.
Great performance. This and Zodiac are my favorite. And then comes one where he saves a soldier
@@innosanto what about the one he's a soldier

@@MrJohannson In Germany, in a small town called Erfurt, I was surprised that they even played it there😅
I watched this movie for the first time 2 months ago. It is easily one of my favorite movies now!!
2:57 "The killing time" as the same time that Frank drives his car aside of Donnie, this movie was ahead of its time.

I prefer this to the directors cut
Damn i love this song and clip
All hail the phantom rabbit Echo who always, eventually, made his presence felt.
the directors cut is better but why this song was changed from this scene is baffling fits better
I disagree

1408 Directors cut is a disgrace
This is the only director's cut I've seen that I *don't* like better than the theatrical cut.
I do like some things about the directors cut, but the theatrical cut is 100% solid
Directors cut explains way more but the Theatrical is just a better film. This song being removed for the Directors Cut was a big mistake.
