Sorry this happened to you! When I lived in Guayaquil, the cousin of my homestay family hostess was robbed/mugged away on the way to visit us. FYI: In NYC thieves on motorcycles have been ripping necklaces off people’s necks recently. One needs to be careful no matter where they are!
Not every where…
It's so good you aren't silent about the downsides and the risks. Maybe your video will save someone from getting robbed in the future. Take care guys and thank God you are okay!
Got mugged at gunpoint in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania in broad daylight. These things happen everywhere. It's disheartening. Glad you guys stayed positive and safe! Mexican people were way more helpful than the Americans were to me!
Japan,,,
Lots of safe cities in Europe except pick pocketing is in every city
@X Marks countries with weak laws are infested with crime.
Sure they happen everywhere, but what matters are the averages. Your odds are 100 times greater in Mexico than in some other places. I quit going to Mexico in 2003, the crime, corruption and third world conditions make it a danger zone. Not to mention that the drug cartels are all powerful in Mexico.
Sorry this happened to you folks. Same happened to another famous RUclipsr recently. Same style of robbery. They got her cell phone. Glad you're both ok.
We had something similar to use in Thailand. I noticed the guy following us so I turn around took a photo of him. One of the local vender yell something at him. He left

I am Ecuadorian upper middle class and I got robbed many times in all over Ecuador. 1 time in Quito, 1 time in manta, and 2 times in Guayaquil. The thing is you always have to be vigilant and looking at your sorrounding at all times and don’t trust no one because you don’t know who is really who? or what they do for a living is better to prevent. The crime wave has exploded all over Ecuador not just between Ecuadorian nationals but foreigners, as organized crime from other countries are now operating in Ecuador and is getting very unsafe everyday. Killings, robberies, kidnapping, and international drug trafficking everyday in Ecuador there seems to be no law and order.
Thanks for mentioning this. Crime has risen here in the US also, even in small cities and towns. As for Ecuador, I hear that it's much worse in Guayaquil.
He said Guadalajara, Mexico
@@TheGuillermo422yes but he also implied that Ecuador was safe. That’s what they are referring to.
So sorry to hear. Something like that is very scary no matter where in the world you are. Glad you made it back home safely 🙏🏽
It happened in Mexico 🇲🇽 and not in Ecuador 🇪🇨
Sadly, nowhere in the world is safe. Some areas safer than others, but unless you live in a bunker and never go out, you’re at risk .
Sad but true.
Japan, Switzerland, Saudia Arabia, Monaco...
Not all "unsafe" areas are equally risky. Wide range.
UAE, QATAR, SAUDI ARABIA, JAPAN
Very safe countries, which have 0 tolerance for crime. And harsh punishments to deter criminal activity.
Crime ridden countries are weak on crime.
@@ShomoGoldburgler - So true. Unfortunately, all of these are expensive places to live. Way out of the budget for many people.
It's impossible to be vigilant 100% of the time when you're trying to live and enjoy your life. Thanks for sharing - it's a good reminder. You guys have a great attitude about it.
Here in Cape Town, they'll literally beat you for your bicycle on a busy street if you're stopped or not moving even momentarily.
Glad you are both okay and kept a great attitude. Also a great reminder to be aware of your surroundings. Any of us can be robbed anywhere at any time.
@chericdesigns. Ur saying absolutely right.
There are many more robberies here in Quito than there were when I moved here four years ago. There are also robberies taking place in restaurants where the thieves go into restaurants and take everyone's wallets, purses, jewelry and cell phones and the thieves make their getaway on motorcycles. My wife's cousin was the victim of such a robbery a couple of weeks ago and the thieves made off with wallets, purses, jewelry and cell phones from 26 customers in the restaurant and they assaulted my wife's cousin, requiring several stitches. My wife's cousin said he recognized the dialect and they were all Venezuelan and they fled on four motorcycles.
Maybe we should just stay home !
Venezuela's finnest at it again. They've turned Peru into a war zone...
@@ShomoGoldburgler, my Ecuadorian wife recognizes the dialect of people from Venezuela and there are a hell of a lot of undesirables from Venezuela now in Ecuador and many of them have guns. The Venezuelans in the robbery I described ALL had guns.
@@nickoshana2246, we don't go to restaurants but instead we order food to be delivered. I also take a 4-foot pole with me whenever we walk in the neighborhood.
Tks for sharing. I’m scheduled to visit Guadalajara next year. I’ll keep my safety & wallet in a safe place.
Or better yet take a gift 🎁 card w/a couple hundred dollars on it if they present any weapons it’s not worth it.
I think if you notice someone stalking, you should go over and interview them.
So sorry this happened to you guys! So glad you didnt let it ruin your day! Really easy to get distracted, especially filming! Great you guys are putting out this warning...we all need to be on our toes...no matter where we are in the world. Stay safe and im sure you will be listening closer to your internal warning beacon 😊
Glad you guys are safe.
So many wonderful people in Ecuador. However, I have found robbery to be more in the form of payoffs. The transit police demanding $250 payoff or jail for passing on a solid line. Customs Inspector demanding $450 ( and our shipping agent acting like this is the norm) to avoid another inventory list and inspection....
I had a kid in Nairobi rip an earring out of my ear as he ran by. I thought he had just punched me in the face, but then saw the blood ... and then the pain! Next day a lady sidled up to me and whispered "be careful of your watch" as she saw people were watching us. (this was pre mobiles so the watch was what they were interested in LOL )
But the worst was a home invasion when living in London, so even when you think you are in a safe country, bad things can happen.
I'm so glad you are both ok, we are moving to Mexico next year from Australia so it is good to know what to look out for. The same thing happened to Maddie ex Tangerine Travels when she was in Guadalajara, so it must be the M.O in parts of the town.
So glad you are both ok!! xx
I'm from Ecuador and i lived in Vegas NV for many years, I have never been robbed in Ecuador, I know it is a crime eve where so sorry this happened to you .
Thank you for videos showing my country I really enjoy it.
They got mugged in Mexico, not Ecuador. Quite the contrary, they said they never felt unsafe in Ecuador and they have never been mugged in Ecuador.
@@Miamiguy2000 Yes, but Ecuador changed. Now it's a mine hub for drug trafficking. You need to update your records.
After over 40 years of international travel and years total of being in different countries I got robbed this spring in Cyprus. I did something stupid to assist the mugger.
I rented an apartment for a few days in Nicosia and after getting checked in went across the street to buy some groceries. I carelessly put my wallet in my front jacket pocket, which I had never done before.
I walked back to the apartment building and a young woman walked past me, entered and pushed the elevator button. She got on before me and looked like someone who could belong in the building. Just as the elevator stopped at my floor she shoved me off my feet, back against the elevator wall, started screaming in my face while holding me off balance with one hand while grabbing my wallet with the other. Then sped out of the open elevator door and bounded down the stairway. She had skills.
Normally I travel in pants with at least one zippered side pants pocket. I keep my major cash, cards, and passport in a ziplock bag. At the beginning of the day I put the cash I expect to spend in my shirt pocket. And more recently one card in a pants pocket. I need to remember to do it the right way and not make it easy for the bad ones.
So sorry that happened. When MaddieGold Channel lived in GDL, she was walking with a friend and the same thing happened, a guy on a motorcycle grabbed her phone out of her hand and rode off with it. Glad you weren't hurt too badly, JP.
Oh no! Hope you guys are OK. In all the years of traveling around the world I’ve been lucky enough to only have a couple of incidents but one of them was trying to board the subway in Mexico City, a couple of guys came up behind me while trying to board a car and shoved me to the ground while simultaneously reaching for whatever was in my back pocket. I jumped up and started screaming “ladrón, ladrón!” and they got up and ran away. I wouldn’t think you would have any trouble in the smaller cities or towns of Mexico but Guadalajara is a pretty big city so a good idea to keep your guard up. Stay safe guys.
I got robbed in Buenos Aires. Very fast. Two people on a motorcycle drove down the busy sidewalk and snatched my phone right out of my hands. Sorry to learn you got robbed. 🫤
This happens in Brazil often ... 😒
@@godbyone - Sad but true. Crazy in the USA too ..! 😩
I got robbed in Nassau on cruise port of call. They got my diamond tennis bracelet from my wrist. Did not feel a thing.
Sad because we go happy to visit
A place un México and u have a Bad expirience. U can't feel safe anymore. but the good thing this turists are safe. I just recomend

I was robbed in the USA. I paid too much for my rent. I paid too much for my dental. I paid too much for my medical.😊
The medical health industry is very greedy in USA. COVID !
I’ve had stuff stolen in Costa Rica and Puerto Rico. I think that guy was eyeballing your purse Amelia. Couldn’t get a clean shot so he went for the phone. Glad you guys are safe!
I am so sorry you got robbed. I respect how you have such a great attitude knowing that anyone anywhere can have this happen and that you talk about it as well.
The same thing happened to Maddygold in Guadalajara, but they actually got her new phone and she was shaken up quite a bit. Maddy said she felt unsafe as a single female immediately after this incident. She is a RUclipsr too in Mexico and told us about it in her video.
I was going to mention this too, thanks.
Yeah! and she never stopped whining about it, on and on, she still whines about it now. Typical entitled gringa.
@@robertvictor3237 Entitled gringa??? How dare her expect to not get robbed of the things she works hard to purchase herself.
And, how could she be so entitled to think she should be able to feel safe as a woman.
You. Are. An. Idiot.
Shes a fragile little delicate flower. Crying "ohhhh boo who im so tiny! Im only 112 pounds! Sob sob sob" Shes so soft, I kind of feel like I'D like to rob her lol Im 115 lb so Ill strong arm her 🤣
I love that these folks are not shook, and that they just say, oh well, not a big deal, check out this nice neighborhood. 👍👍
I remember watching the video about the expat Hotspot and how you said you felt so safe in Guadalajara, and I thought, "Uh, oh!" Naiveté will get you every time. I know from personal experience 😅
A friend of mine was with his family dining in a hotel restaurant in Montreal. A thief snatched his wife's purse which was draped on the back of her chair. He went in pursuit because the family's passports were in that purse. The pursuit went through a wedding in progress. Because the thief dropped the purse just as my friend was about to catch him, the purse and passports were retrieved. As my friend grasped the retrieved purse, he looked up to see the wedding party, the priest, and all the guests gawking at him. It was a comic relief moment in an incident which might have otherwise been a catastrophe.
Looks like a fabulous city to visit!! Thank you for sharing this.
Ughhhh...I am so sorry you had to endure the robbery attempt! But, glad that it wasn't something substantial; or that you were injured!
Safe travels!!
Hey guys! Of course I am sorry that robbery happened. However, I look at the silver lining in that. It was a "gift" from Above...to warn you about perhaps an even worst event that was "scheduled" to happen to you both. Yet with this pre-warning, you put your "guards" back up, and avoided a worst possible event that might have occurred later that day.
P.S. I loved how you did NOT let that ride-by robbery affect your enjoyment for your trip.
Finally someone who thinks like me! You are sooo right...cheers mate
The fountain at 5:05 is a block away from the parque revolucion and that's where I met my wife while I was on a trip to Guadalajara. I forgot my hat on a bench and when I came back, she was sitting there, and the rest is history.
I was shocked when I saw the title but like you said petty crime is everywhere. I am so happy you are okay JP. Amelia you are definitely an explorer.
I love Guadalajara. I have lived here for almost three years. There's so much to do, the people are friendly and the city is beautiful.
When I lived in GDL, before the pandemic (in El Centro), I used to eat my bagged lunch everyday outside Mercado San Juan de Dios in the quad area near the restrooms. I'd watch the local thieves resell stolen phones back to unsuspecting tourists. After listening to them day in/day out, I found out they're stealing your phone while it's in-use so they can wipe it within minutes, drop it off within minutes and get paid in advance of the sale. The reseller can usually turn around a phone within an hour. An older seller explained his whole process to a new hire within earshot. Amazingly efficient thievery! Sorry you had to go through that though.
so sorry to hear this, last week in Houston, I had a check stolen from the mail, it was for 44.00 to pay my water bill, the thief altered the check changing the amount to 7500.00, they wrote it on 11/23, cashed it on 11/25 -- I found out on Sunday when I went to my ATM, the money is protected by ins. at the bank, but the hassle of changing accts. etc. took 14 hrs. this week, mail theft in Houston is very common, people break into mail boxes here, time to leave America
And "jugging" going on in TX too.....forget law and order.
Agree. I find the combination of living in a country with a high cost of living PLUS lack of safety just too much.
I got robbed in Mexico twice! they got my camera and purse. :(
That’s why I’m in love with Cuenca, I have walked miles with same camera and felt very safe. Cuenca is beautiful, it has a great gastronomy and kind people, definitely top of my list to retire to!
So glad you weren't hurt worse, JP!! Thanks for sharing your experiences :)
I will not return to Ecuador because of the thieves. Been there 4 times. Each time been clipped. I caught 2 pickpockets ..but twice after checking in luggage I was missing items when I arrived ..an expensive camera was stolen once. And another time a telephone. No valuables in checked luggage in Ecuador
On one of your previous Mexico videos I made a comment about danger and crime in Mexico..
The US government has issued warnings about Mexico.. some choose to ignore them.
My wife and I were frequent visitors for many years.. never again. It is no longer the Mexico we knew.
I still go each year with my partner and we’ve been going for almost 8 years. Just gotta stay away from certain areas and be a bit more self aware. Still planning on visiting Mexico each year.
Don’t know when you stopped going there, but my husband and I have traveled extensively around Mexico for 30 years.
We lived there for 2 years back in 2005.
In all that time, the U.S. has issued travel warnings.
That is nothing new.
In Mexico they tell people the US is not safe. They highlight Chicago, Philly and most places in Comiefornia. So the entire US is dangerous...
So sorry to hear about this! Last summer I was in the same area and at that same park there were a lot of people I was keeping an eye on. One street north of where you were at is really sketchy. It can happen anytime or anywhere. So glad that is all that happened.
Just down Juarez from where you were robed is a mariachi restaurant.
Glad you are ok, so sorry this happened, and thank you for the heads up. A great lesson for all of us. Peace.
Another good video, thank you. Guadalajara is so beautiful, the architecture alone is worth the trip but throw in the landscaping and nice locals .... good choice you two. Now you've got a good storey to tell as well 😊.
You guys are just the best! Great storytellers. Thanks for the great reminders.
It's so true how we register things in our minds but don't always connect all the dots. Don't beat yourselves up too much. You have the right attitudes about it, you were able to walk away from it. Quality camera work there. The architecture is gorgeous.
So glad that the only serious injury was JP's shirt 😊, and admire the way you handled it - didn't let it ruin your day. You guys are awesome! 👏
Sorry to say that this is one of the things that happens when you go on the "AIR". My Dad was a TV reporter and we got burgled 3x in 15 years and bodily threatened to the point that my school bus was driven by a cop. Heal! And go on!
Glad it was only somewhat minor robbery scuffle and you’re OK. Thanks for the reminder that we need to be careful out there.
Don’t use panama hats please better dresss like Poor people. No get attention from this thief’s. Regards from Guayaquil- Ecuador 🇪🇨. Love your channel
Glad I saw this as we are going to Puerto Vallarta at the end of the month. We have travelled all over the world, especially in Mexico (we are Canadian), but it will be our first time in that city so will be more easily distracted with seeing things for the first time. Although we take all the precautions re proper clothing and securing valuables we can forget about what is in our hands! Thanks for another great video.
Here in Lima, Perú, there's so much moto-robbery that it's ILLEGAL for a motorcycle to be 'two-up'...ie: two people on it.
I’m very sorry for this happening.
Thank you for honest reporting of what you encounter in your travels
Glad you guys are safe. Heck, this happens in every big city. We need a PSA such as this one for my neck of the woods - San Francisco!
That happened to Maddie a vlogger from Maddiegold. She moved from Guadalajara to another town in Mexico after her she was robbed.
Mexico City, right?
@@MrJx4000 Guadalajara
I've been following you guys for a while and was saddened to hear you experienced this. Unfortunately in this world these things happen. Be careful you two and thanks for sharing your adventures.
You guys are AWESOME! You know how to roll with the punches!!! Thanks for sharing your experience with us all! Now we might take the time to be more self aware when we travel overseas🙂
Glad you two are ok and turned the event into a major learning for us all. What, JP, is the best, easiest and lightweight hand held phone 'stick'? I have hand issues and need lightweight & know you would know the best! Thank you for not letting it ruin your day and sharing it with us.
We use a DJI Osmo gimbal most of the time.
Good to know you folks are doing well and recovered from the situation pretty quick.
Wow, I grew in that neighborhood near the "Templo Expiatorio", our house was one block away from it. Your video brought me lots of memories. I am sorry this happened to you. I have to recognize that Guadalajara grew too much and is not as safe as it used to be when I was a kid. Glad you did not lose your cell phone to the bad guy. I keep hearing stories from robberies to my friends and family members now, take care!
No worries, it could happen in front of a police station in any town, USA. The main thing is you're both OK.
Sure especially since great migration.
Wow guy's so sorry that you even went thru that, that's so disturbing but i'm just glad both of you are okay, just pls becareful out there.
Thank you for this video. A very good reminder to stay vigilant where ever you are traveling. Glad there were no serious injuries and you both continued on with your day.
The less you have on your hands the better, try to wear a vest with pockets inside to protect your personal belongings, on this video your purse is big enough and easy to pull down, not even holding in it in front of you. It’s my suggestion be safe please and like your videos 🌹
Your doing great keep pushing forward. Yes you were being scoped out. If you see somebody twice it's a sign! God bless you 🙏 both.
gOOD FOR YOU AND YOUR HIGH SPIRIT. yes it is terrible to plan the trip, go enjoy and unfortunate things happen to you. great that you were safe and keep going.
Amelia and Jp , I am sorry that this happened to you both. I am glad that you all are ok. Everything else can replaced.
So sorry to hear this you guys! But I’m glad you’re okay. This will sharpen your discernment for sure, stay safe and keep the great videos coming!
I only got robbed one time in my life, and that was in Barcelona. They stole my cellphone while I was sitting on the beach.
So glad you are ok!
JP is the man!
Amelia is so fine!
I hope the rest of your adventures are safe and beautiful.
Sorry that this happened. What you said is correct. There are bad people everywhere. Thanks for pointing out that. I'm sure you will keep enjoying Mexico (unless you already have finished the trip).
I spent quite some time in Mexico City almost 20 yrs ago.. very beautiful and warm people but crime is rampant unfortunately. ‘Glad you didn’t get too injured. Take care!
I lived in Guadalajara for over 10 years, almost 12, and last visited in December, 2022. One of the places I lived was just 2 blocks from Parque Revolucion so I walked past it all the time. I was never robbed but I was never filming there.
In 2000 when I first moved there Colonia Americana was a bit run-down. Today it's very chic and filled with digital nomads.
Oh man! I am so sorry to hear this. Thankfully JP’s wound wasn’t as bad as it could have been. It was not your fault, this could happen anywhere. Another person posted about thieves brandishing guns and robbing entire restaurants. Im glad this event didn’t spoil your adventure. Saludos desde NYC
I'm sorry that happened to you. But i'm Ecuador we all are víctims of robery too. Just be careful here please.
You're not stupid. This happened to me in Guatemala. He drove up and punched me in the boob but I clutched my phone back.
The way you handled the robbery is wise and taught me something about not getting angry or wrathful.
Hi Amelia and JP..., It happens ( Robbery ) all over the world..., not just in Mexico. * I totally "agree" with you both..., once you saw him and had that ( feeling ) that you were being scoped out and a tourist-target..., head for cover or some type of protection and or safety..., would have been the "right decision"... A group of people, a restaurant, coffee shop or any type of shop or store... I noticed in the video..., that ( JP ) got a little scrap on his arm. * Hell ! ..., I get hurt, just getting out of bed... LOL You are ( NOT ) alone..., it happens all over the world... Excellent video and very informative, and "Thank you" for sharing the video... " Semper Fi " Mike in Montana :)
I lived in Guadalajara from last November until this February. And although an amazing city to live in or visit, you're the 3rd expat I know that this has happened to since I arrived there last November. Although I never felt any more unsafe there than anywhere else in the world, this seems to be an ongoing occurrence in Guadalajara unfortunately.
I was in GDL in August. Con guy "befriended" me & my friend. Took my phone to check the walking map. Oops. I thought it was fishy, but since it didn't bother my "worldly" companion I let it go. 🙄 (Of course the guy hurried off with my phone.)
We enjoyed touring this area with amazing historic buildings and lots of history. No one bothered to rob us though - guess you two are all dressed up and look very prosperous, so no question you have the best STUFF, too. The CENTRAL MARKET is amazing and HUGE and next door there is a Mariachi Plaza where they ALWAYS have artists performing - check it out!!! It's a short walk from this area you are filming.
Glad you're ok you two and minor thievery.
25 years ago my friend and I were robbed in Quatelahara on our way to Tlaquepaque on a bus. The bus was so crowded and there was a ring of people who worked together to distract us, slit our bags and grabbed anything leather inside.
Upon discovery, we immediately got off the bus and yelled for police. They caught two men running away and one had our valuables stuffed down his pants. I had a very unique wallet from Morocco and could visually and instantly identify it. We went down to the station, met the police chief, pressed charges spending hours doing so and luckily got everything back! We also received a police ride back to our hotel in el Centro. We were so lucky and grateful, and much more careful from then on. No more crowded buses for us.
Thank God's immutable protections you weren't hurt worse or lost more. Great video with great advice. Thank you for sharing your experience.
So sorry to hear this. Thank you for not sugar coating and sharing the truth.
Amelia what a great attitude and help for JP in his injury. You made the difference! Way to go!!
South America is similar to South East Asia in terms of prices and climate. But South East Asia is significantly safer.
I swear I was just looking into different ways to protect my phone when vlogging in crowded mercados, etc.
Do you use a GoPro or ???
I was wondering if a chest mount would make it difficult, maybe over a tshirt but with a button down shirt over, kind of covering almost everything except the phone.
??? Not sure….
Great video !
It would be really hard to film quality video with a chest mount. There's not much that can be done, other than not filming in questionable locations.
I was just working in Ecuador a couple months ago was heading up to a lookout right outside the old city (1block)... Next a car drives past me .. stops .. a guy jumps out and comes straight for me .. I end up in a fight with him knocking him down twice .. he goes after another tourist close by .. a girl jumped out of the car with a broken bottle attacking us at the same time.. the other guy lost his camera and phone.. I was fortunate. This happened at lunchtime.. broad daylight. You shouldn't paint this picture that Ecuador is super safe because it isn't. You have to be on your guard all the time. You are a walking ATM machine to these crooks.. remember that 😁
Glad you are ok. I had friends loose their phones in Spain. This can happen to anyone. Even when you are hyper aware, they are real good at finding you weak spots. HOWEVER, I feel the need to defend your attack on the drivers of Ecuador. I have had several waive me along as I cross the road. Several out of hundreds :)
Making eye contact with them first really helps!
Sorry to hear about that incident, I’m actually flying down to GDL tomorrow, after seen your video I better be careful with my equipment and belonging
I learned in the Philippines back in the 60s to stay close to businesses when out, and if someone looked like they were going to bother you to walk toward a business.
They had armed guards, and when they saw you heading toward them, they would step out toward you so no one would bother you.
Of course, most of the businesses were bars. 😆
Win win!😂
Hey honey, it looks like someone is following us, again.. Third time this afternoon.
Glad no major harm came to you JP nor your wife , many come home from Mexico in Body Bags and some are never found at all nor ever heard from again and as they say That's Just Mexico.
OMG!!! guys thank God you only lost some equipment and you are ok. LIKE JP said their are bad people all over the world. Don't be discouraged and keep up your fantastic and wonderful videos you share with us.
It’s a shame you have to think that way. It’s world wide. But you guys have a great attitude. Most people are good.
I'm really sorry this happened to you Unfortunately same thing happened to my wife in Sacramento CA and we also got robbed in Waikiki Hawaii we left our belongings unattended to go on the ocean and when we got out everything was gone it's not a good feeling gotta be careful with your surroundings no matter where you are it's not always safe there's always a rotten apple, be safe and take care.
Robbed and pooped on in the same day, oh my! We met you on the street in Cuenca after having watched several of your videos. Now that we are back home it's fun to see you again in more videos.
I get robbed every time I leave the house in the usa - cost of living robbed
So sorry you have to go through this. Hope you come to Monterrey some time.
So glad you're OK! ;) but as you said let your guard down for a minute and these things happen. Just a tip if I may, if you're every in Medellin in your travels, NEVER take your camera out there!!! As well wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for recommending the vegan restaurant , VeganTown in Ajijic. My wife and I are in the area and we've been there twice..its soooooo good ;) Suerte!
I watched this video, I agree with you about the drivers in Ecuador, especially in Cuenca. I am from Ecuador, and went there for the first time when our son moved there 5 years ago in a nice high rise apartment building. We went back two or three more times, never went there when I lived in Quito or Guayaquil. My wife, from Dallas, me and our son, fell in Love with that amazing city. We all are back in Texas now. Like I mentioned, the drivers are very aggressive, so I didn't let them do that to me. I jumped right in front of them, being careful of course, and made them stop, gave a good speech about how inconsiderate they were, and went on our way. From the many people I did that to, only one young woman got upset, I just gave her a piece of my mind and continued walking. I did the same thing in Quito, it didn't go that well there, they are more aggressive, and I ended up punching one car. He didn't got out of the car though, but took off dangerously.
Surprisingly, not so in Guayaquil, a large and busy city, they were very polite and had no incidents there.
Sorry you got robbed in Mexico, I have been all over the world and the only place I got robbed was in Acapulco, MX of all places, right outside out hotel, the Hyatt, then, located in a nice area, but you never know over there. I enjoyed your videos and have seen several of them, including a couple from Ecuador. You'll be careful the next time. Greetings!
My first trip to Mexico many years ago I visited the market it was unbelievable they had everything there spend the whole day did a lot of walking around. Keep safe there been to Mexico many times everywhere in no gringo towns to tourist areas never had a problem.
U guys are good people, sorry they had a go at you, were single out because you were isolated, like a sitting duck , try to camouflage , and never call attention, not even with clothes , robbers all over south& Central America, big hug, take care , andres
So sorry you had this experience, and very glad you're both okay. It was really shocking seeing JP's wound! This made me recall that motorbike robbery of this sort was very common a few decades ago when my mother used to go to Caracas to shop. She and her friends learned fast to leave handbags behind and carry their cash in the pockets of tight jeans. My own visit to Caracas was uneventful... except for the man who walked up to me in Simon Bolivar Square, kissed my cheek and said I was beautiful. Then calmly walked away while blowing kisses at me. 😳
The architecture in Guadalajara is stunning! Thank you for sharing it with us. (PS: The bird poop was funny, though. Sorry JP.)
We visited La Vega Central, a vary large market in Santiago, Chile. ~15 acres if I’m not mistaken. It may give that place some competition.👍🏼 I’m so glad that guy didn’t make it off with your phone.
Happened to Maddie (of MaddieGold RUclips channel) in Guadalajara... but they did get her new iPhone.
Im sorry to heard that, Im from Guadalajara. Next time I will go with you guys!!
