    Thank you so much for such great information! I was having the hardest time finding out what my options were as far as coverings for my sliding glass door. Both Home Depot and Lowe's employees were totally stumped when I asked this question! Finally someone who knows what they're talking about!

    I have the banded shades but drapes on the side for show. I do want to say that we're in the Midwest and one thing we have to do is have ventilation at night or we end up with condensation on our double paned windows. That means opening up window coverings at night and running the ceiling fans on low.

    vertical slats are horrible, I just took mine down, they were material and are now in the city dump. I have lined bamboo with bronze grommets, and a bronze curtain rod, I can close for pure privacy, or open side or center mass, and are great for insulation. I have a modern rustic look going on in my home. I also had wooden shutters in my dinning room, they are at the city dump as well, cleaning them are very time consuming.

    Excellent video, thank you. For the sliding panels, in the video it looks like 2.5’ is wasted on the right side (meaning is covered and not openable), is this the minimum that can be wasted for a 12’ wide covering? Can that part be overlapping a wall to the side of the sliding doors so it doesn’t block the windows? Is the track deeper on the far right to stack the panels? And finally, does anyone make a control integrated to Google assistant? Thanks and great video.

  • @FreeThinker611

    What do you call the drapes and track system in your video starting at 1:28? How does the one panel drapery slide past the two inner support brackets? It must work differently than grommet draperies cuz with those, you need a separate drape panel between each support bracket.

    • @BlindAppealMeridian

      There are a handful of options for hanging drapers. Overall, they fall in the categories of curtain rods or traverse systems. The one you see in the video is a decorative traverse, meaning the operating pieces are looped inside the pole so it glides right across. Hope this helps.

    • @BlindAppealMeridian
      @BlindAppealMeridian  2 года назад +2

      Yes, if you put a bracket in the middle of the rod, then you would have to have a split draw drape, unless it’s a traverse rod. Unless, you get a rod that is substantial enough to not bow without a middle bracket. Hope this helps!

      @@robinq5511 I like the doors with the blinds between the glass. Anderson makes them. Unfortunately, in my case, the contractor didn't listen to my wish to have them on the addition. The type he installed doesn't have them. I could have ordered them when I had custom-sized replacements made for another room, but since the two doors are separated by about 20 feet, it would have looked weird.
      Someone needs to make blinds that fit over the glass and cover only the glass, not the entire door. Betting some brilliant person could come up with an after-market install. Maybe 1/2" inch blinds, enclosed in glass that mounts over the door glass on the room side. No doubt it could be made so there is no distortion in the view. Room darkening blinds would be nice.

      I did that but it cost over $5,000.00 in 2018. I got honeycomb shades between the glass. It has easy access to remove blinds. Plus you can take out grills if you want. It has 3 panes of glass. I love this door in my great room. I even got the screens French doors. Very heavy, well built door.
      However 3 years later, Pella quit offering this same door that I wanted for my master bedroom which was nearby the first door.
      I did not get the new style because it would not match in many ways.
      My favorite window treatment is plantation shutters- I have had them for 20 years and they are still in style.
