When I buy a paper pack there are always pages I don’t like. I use them as bases so they don’t go to waste. I have to say I’ve never needed to make more scrap on purpose. Scraps are randy little buggers as they seem to propagate all on their own.
I could listen to you and watch you collage for hours, days even! Thank you for doing this video. It really helped me. I'm one of those small pieces of paper first and never knew why I got so frustrated. I never wanted to cover those bits up so I'd quit. You are a tremendous help Rachel . Love, Jan from the USA
LOVE LOVE LOVE this!! I so enjoy when you collage...I get so tickled at you! It gives me a great giggle and, of course, always a good time had. Not to mention, the learning process! Thanks so much for sharing this with us!!!
Oh my goodness, collage is my ABSOLUTE favorite thing to do with paper!!! I would have to say that 3 qualities you have to possess or learn are: bravery, patience and flexibility. Also, you can't be married to anything preconceived, in my experience. And know when to stop.... :-)
What a joyful project! This was especially good as it was more than ideas and techniques. When you mentioned your Sis and Mom, I was so touched. You are so lucky to have them in your life...I miss my Mom and Sis. I love when art also deeply touches my spirit. It inspires me to my core. Thank you.
This is one of my favorite videos you have shared, and considering how much fun and informative they all are, that is truly saying something good. It does help when steps or guidelines are given, to include an example or two. I am so visual, that the old saying about “one picture is worth 1,000 words” definitely applies to me. Thanks for sharing info as well as bringing a bit of laughter into our day.
I am floored at how much help this has been to me!! I’ve always struggled with collage, but this really made sense. I think one big problem for me has been that all my papers are together, so I get hung up with using the wrong thing first and then bumfoozled all around. Thanks again for sharing your process so concisely!
Thank you Rachel, for sharing these collaging tips. The last piece you created, with the butterflies, is a perfectly lovely example. i would triple matt it and frame ut and hang it near my crafting table to inspiee and delight me.
Oh this was fantastic.. You are such a great teacher.. Love the sound of your voice Very easy to listen to. I'm going to try this right now. Before I forget 😂 😂 😂. Much Love from Australia. X
This is the best explanation of collage "how-to" I've found. Before I took up journal making I didn't give collage a single thought. But seeing how much it gets used in JJ world, I have struggled to understand the how and the why. Thank you for this clear and detailed explanation of the collage process. I've been trying my hand at it lately. While I think I may be improving, these tips will surely help! The summary at the end was helpful too. Thanks, Rachel! ~Marci 🥰
I'm so delighted that I found this video. I haven't been junk journaling very long less than a year so I'm going back to look at some of the older videos that you've done. I found this extremely helpful thank you thank you thank you
Those were great guidelines for collaging. We’ve probably all heard each of these points from you at various times but to get them all at the same time in sequence is much appreciated. Glad you were able to touch base with Sarah.🥰❤️
Rachel, thankfully collaging has always come naturally to me even though I'd never seen or heard guidelines before. You have given me a new way to think about what I'm doing and your guidelines are very helpful. Thank you for sharing your expertise with all of us. Donna, in California.
I didn't really have guidelines when I started these are just things I noticed i always think about. It's hard for some people so I wrote them down as they came to mind to gather them into one spot. Thank you so much!
Hello Rachel, loved this video. I do struggle to get a cohesive look to my collaging, so your tips were invaluable. Thank you for putting this video together and sharing with us. I know it is an "oldie" but have been going back to the more "older" ones. Am enjoying them just as much. Love what you do and love how you explain, so down to earth and sometimes so funny, you have a "fan" for as long as you put up videos. I learn sooooooo much from you. Thank you my Italian Australian friend. Blessings from Cape Town Diana
That was a great video, thank you Rachel. As you were chatting I wrote the 10 tips in my Collage notebook. Organise the papers is the most important for me!
