one aspect of the eclipse which I was not expecting and is not captured on camera was the noticeable temperature drop as the sun's rays were blocked.

Apparently I was too caught up in the moment to realize it.
The New Brunswick website said the temperature change could be up to 10 Celsius

spot on I was out in the open the lighting looked weird and all sudden it felt like it was raining cold air just before totality

I was at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, one of the locations NASA broadcast from. It definitely got cooler. It was an amazing experience.

Yeah, I was outside in shorts and a t shirt, and when totality came I felt like I needed a jacket.

Wonderful! I ended up just inside the boundaries of the rural community of Mapledale (near Debec, to the southwest of Woodstock). Excellent view, truly an awe-inspiring experience. Waited my entire life for this, and I am almost 65. Worth the wait 100%.

I haven't been to that area yet, but I'm told it's very nice.
My wife and I were surprised about how much more impressive it was than we'd expected

@@howdidigetthere - It is a peaceful part of the province, composed of hills and farms. I am guessing a lot of potatoes are grown there, but it was a bit too early in the season for anything to be growing. I do know that it would be an excellent place to view the sky if there was a comet or meteor shower.

I saw it from Jackman, Maine. Right near the border.
    Dead Center of totality.
It was otherworldly seeing the sky go so quickly dark like that.
I only wish it had lasted longer.

@@MadMaxx89 I went in to Bishops for some gas & pizza! Was able to get parking behind the store too. Thanks for allowing that btw!
You guys did an outstanding job tanking & handling such a big crowd! The likes of which i doubt you've ever had!
I hope we didn't drain all your resources too badly. 😅At least you have a big economy boost to show for it!
Will definitely visit Jackman again! Especially for some of those trinkets at Bishops I didn't have money for at the time. Lol

This is great! I travelled from Halifax up just a little further to Richibucto and it's pretty neat to see the difference in how much brighter the sky was to the east during totality with only about 40km distance between the two locations! +Fav!

I had intended to drive up to Bouctouche, but my house was already inside of the totality and when I saw the traffic I chickened out.
A friend of mine went to Richibucto as well and he said it was awesome there

    • @StreaksSkunk
      @StreaksSkunk Месяц назад

@@howdidigetthere This was still a fantastic spot to view! You got lucky! haha The traffic was crazy, I can't blame you there. The 11 wasn't too bad where it was divided, but bottlenecked back miserably where it went to 2-way (going up and really bad coming back). We ended up leaving about an hour and some after our friends, we took the smaller 134 highway back, so they were behind us and met up with them just before the NS border, so they were stuck in that for nearly an hour and half. I imagine some of those towns have never been so busy before!

There's not a camera in the world that does justice to a total solar eclipse; you have to see it in person. It looks so small in this video, but when I was looking up at it, it seemed like it was right in front of my face.
