Thanks Daniel! I just got an 1877 IHP from a garage sale hoard for dirt cheap, it is about a G-6.I was questioning its authenticity but in fact it does have the weak N on the reverse. Thanks for the video!

Absolutely precise . And Proofs are actually struck with the intention of the mint to coin out for the collector . Although some proofs have been introduced in circulation Thyre intended to not be a business strike .In by being struck for the collector , they are immaculate in all parts of the coin . The dies are routinely cleaned , examined before the striking periodically as opposed to common business strikes . In other words proofs are well taken observed and the coin should be flawless .

You helped me so much. Warning newbies about places ripping people off. Thank You so much. You are so different than the other coin people on here. Love what you cover. Your Real !

I was left an 1877 mini Indian cent. I remember looking it up in a book and I thought I was rich. I forgot about it for about 20 years I use to tell everyone I had the best real fake And it had to be worth something. I realize it was about who gave it to me and the sentimental value It holds for me.

You make good point .It is rather a difficult process in evaluating coins . I do tend to think many truly simply just do not know it’s a fake and have posted it to sell and are honestly sincere and genuine in that person. But at the same time there are ones who knows it’s a fake and have posted it to sell and are methodically planned to take advantage of others and when irrevocably been proven wrong , they simply claim “ I didn’t know it was a fake “ . Those are absolutely the worst of people ever and they’re like a satan carnival in my bowels ending being flushed from existence. These ones makes the good ones like me , and you and many of us seem to be unreal in that they’re so convincing in themselves to be like us they never can be and are pissed off or jealous or envious because they can’t be .
Pathetic is a good word to have in your lists of words to use in your vocabulary.
Good job on this . It makes me proud to know there are still good folk out there .

Here is a point. Did you know there are people who SEEK OUT counterfeit coins? I know it sounds weird but it is true. Those people are taking the fakes out of the market. AND, they KNOW they are fake. To each his own I guess. I want the real thing. Thanks for educating us.

@@CoinHELPu thank you Daniel. Do you then go through eBay Resolution Center to get your money back? I got a 20c piece off eBay years ago for what I thought was a great deal but it turned out to be a fake. Unfortunately it took too long for me, an amateur, to figure it out and use the resolution center. It had to go through my credit card resolution & ultimately resolved in a court room. Daniel, stuff like this can destroy the hobby. I wish you could have sniped that 20c piece from me where I wouldn't have had to deal with the mess I did.

  • @Car1Sagan

The difference between the fake & real (4:00) jumped out at me right away in seeing the Indian head's position to the date. The neck part of the head is much closer to the date in the fake when compared to the real one. That's the first difference I saw, and then the font & strike differences are less apparent but still noticeable.

With the Internet it's harder to scammed compared to people from the 80s and early 90s and older because we can just look it up on a phone as to where back then they go off what the professional coin dealer says

The more I watch the more disillusioned I become with people in general - makes me sad - take a great hobby / investment and make it hard for the average person to just enjoy acquiring coins - instead as like so many other things, we have to constantly be wary and “look over our shoulders “

I'm surprised that you didn't point out that if the bottom feather points between the C and A instead of I and C, the obverse would indicate that it was late 1886 or later. I've seen fakes that it pointed between the I and C, which would have been correct, but the N in ONE was strong. The guy who bought it knew Indian cents, but it was cheap and pretty. There's no way he would have paid full price for it. Some of the fakes you showed pointed between C and A, but I saw at least one in your photos that pointed between I and C.

    • @CoinHELPu

It doesn't matter the coin is a blatant fake and the person who bought this, is not with us any longer but they didn't know Indian Cents or they would not have bought this obvious fake.

Daniel, this is STILL US currency although over 100 years old. Unless the coin is stamped FAKE or COPY, wouldnt this be an ILLEGAL counterfeit to sell within the US? Shouldnt legal pressure be made on whoever/wherever this is made to cease? This criminal activity burned me once in buying a counterfeit and may destroy the hobby.

    • @CoinHELPu
      @CoinHELPu  5 лет назад

There's not much that can be done, since there's no international laws for these and once someone owns it and don't know it's fake then you can't prove they were passing off counterfeit coins.

A fake coin is no different than fake paper money. Secret Service wants to be notified if you have a fake. Last person holding the fake is responsible unless you can prove where you got it. To much info is not a good thing. Mums the word!

No, the font isn't even close and no example of a worn out proof die, the mint retired the dies after so many strikes to prevent that from happening.

I purchased several Indian head coins that I thought were high grade and bright red.
After receiving the coins, I noticed one of the coins had a silver spot near the face- when i took the coin out of the holder, I noticed that the "red" came off as you rubbed the coin- it became silver. Is that a counterfeit coin? If so- should I report the seller to any particular agency?
