- Video Sample From Full Chase Video! Sunday November 17th 2013 This clip when I was downtown Kokomo, IN when a tornado when through less than 1.5 miles from me. There was rotation right in front of me as the water a leaves started circling and going towards the tornados direction.
"CJ.. what are you oh shitting about?!?" - Umm... perhaps because there is a freakin TORNADO about to hit your car that you are chasing!?!?
This city has a giant mantis statue? Super cool!
M-K-L, Awesome, dude!
Yup drive by it all the time its for a coffee shop i think :)
this is indiana. anything can happen
I know, right? I think I might actually go to Kokomo, IN just to see that!
It's a random statue, not "for" anything. Kokomo has a thing for random statues and abstract art. 🤷♀️
That tornado got there fast, and then it took it slow...
like my booty calls.
lol leroy
I see what you did there.... took me a second
Yup! 👍 Totally just busted out singing the song. My 14 yr old daughter looked at me like I'd gone insane!
My laugh of the day.
@RichFunkyFlea19 😂 I'm 4 years late.... But, this comment made my day!
Side note- I love that giant Mantis...
They worship it, as a god!
ME TOO
@@jonothandoeser dang straight we do
kokomantis slays
That was one bad-ass praying mantis.
I remember when they first put it up and I thought it was the weirdest thing ever.
i see it every time i go to my grandmas
jbsmg legend says he karate chopped the tornado in half
jbsmg What does the mantis have to do with Subway ?
lol I live in Kokomo and it figures the praying mantis gets the attention. I was at Meijer when the tornado struck which is really close to where it hit. They must have been at a safer distance because houses were ripped apart a mile away from me.
Yep
That's where some of my relatives live
In that neighborhood behind meijer
I live in kokomo I lived on south bell street but I moved I moved a week after the tornado I walked down the street and so much damage it just passed my house I've never prayed so hard.
My Great-Grandparents (I call them Memo and Grandpa) also live in Kokomo. They live on W 100 N. You know where that is?
Nope!
Yes I live in Kokomo as well in Cedar crest housing addition and it came right through here crazy crazy
i live in kokomo now, but for most of my life i lived about 20 minutes away. i remember this happening and it was SO scary being even a couple miles away. we were at the kokomo mall and had to rush to a friends house, very scary.
I wish my town had a giant praying mantis.
From west Lafayette Indiana! Gotta go check out dat bug soon! Learn something new every day!
He is made from WWII Fuel Pontoon. Love our KoKoMantis.
I live in the same area as Kokomo. I was 8 years old on this day. Just can back from GS Camp and we were having a birthday party. From what I remember, total of 21 touchdowns that day. I was terrified as I had some serious astrophobia. I was also the oldest child there and the only one in tears. I remember looking at the sky later, and the sirens were stilling going off. It was half black and half clear blue.
I’ll never forget it.
i was 8 too, it was so scary
As you were parked beside the Armstrong Landon Building, the tornado was passing from right to left slightly more than a mile in front of you.
You always know you're in a good spot when you begin to talk about underground parking ;p ~
0:01 this tornado was brought to you by subway
If there ever is a Tornado around some one, I would wish them good luck , pray for them, and hope they're ok after the tornado ( Like the comment if you would do the same thing if there was a tornado heading towards your friends house)
Haha, the giant praying mantis at 00:01
Side note- did you apply rain-x to your windshield?
Kokomo's being attacked by a giant mantis!
Although scary, these people are like my friends and I. We would most definitely risk our lives to see this.
“Underground parking lot, that way!” ..too late!
That underground parking is kept locked up except for those who have entrance code. Just fyi for anyone ever in the area thinking it's an option for safety. Idk how it was back then when this was recorded.
Beach boys kokomo slow Mo brought me here..
a mantis decided to live on my balcony 2 days ago, now there's this giant mantis
*i'm not sure if this is a blessing or a curse*
I know that you're caught up in the pursuit of the storm, but you sure drive fast throughout those neighborhoods, even if they were empty.
It' just looks fast, I never hit over 30mph in the neighborhoods and 20mph in town.
Thanks for your response. I often joked with my friends who live in Tornado alley that I would like to go tornado chasing. They always answer in the negative.
Cloud Chaser lucky
Most of my family lives in Indiana. My grandparents live in Kokomo.
Why would you keep your window open or any open for matter of fact
Oklahoma has a lot of tornadoes. So scary.
ARE YOU SERIOUS ? ? ? SHE SAID IT THREE TIMES ! ! ! WHOA.
a rain wrapped tornado not a good one to view all of a sudden it's there on top of you and you can't see what's happening
+genevastein They happen quite often actually, because most storms have heavy rainfall.
Sattelite tornados can also sneak up on you.
Is there a tornado in this video? If so, where in the video is it?!
Try 3:25!
Is this the one that took Starbucks home with it? I remember going up there there next day and seeing the damage.
Good luck on future chases. Hope it all goes well.
Wow what a rush, studying storms is all i can do pretty much at this age i am. *15* but i wouldn't mind actually being a storm chaser.
That's the best way to learn is to studying them before just going out blind and chasing them. So when you do go out and chase you will know what to look for and what could be a big storm or just a normal storm. Stay safe.
Kathi Chambers when you are 18 you could become a nws storm spotter
Just saw the damage in Kokomo for the first time today...all we got in Zionsville was just a little rain and wind - just a view of a large white thunderhead to the north.
Damn. :(
Wow the sky 🌌 is green !!!
Oh No! Was the mantis destroyed??
This is insane!!!!!!!!!
Yeah it was!
Cloud Chaser I was born and lived in Indiana but then we moved cause my dad needed a job
Truth is I didn't think he got much of the tornado but he did get a great view of the praying mantis. I wish we had one in Maine. I looked it up on Facebook and some of the towns people don't like it. What's not to love about her. She is one of my fav bugs of all time. And they need love as much as birds and dogs and cats. But some people don't see it that way and they think bugs should be all killed well they are hear for a reason and remember we took over there home not the other way around. Anyways I could not live in a place were I had to worry about a tornado but do they get a lot of them??? Or was this a freak thing that happened?? I do not know much about IN sorry about that but does that state get a lot of tornados???? And if and when you get one may GOD watch over your town and keep you all safe and sound and may he purtect all your homes and businesses. AMEN
3:23 That lightning 😀😀
Only idiots would turn on street lights in such a light sky.
I Still Live In KoKoMo Even Tho I'm From South Carolina.
I wish every storm video was shot with a stable, mounted camera. Handheld cameras do not work.
I shoot with three different cameras, one dash cam mounted and two handhelds. When you are chasing its usually hard to try and setup and dangerous to setup a tripod to film all the time. That's why I have the dash cam, plus I can always leave it running and catch things that I wouldn't with my handheld cause it was off or pointed in another direction.
I live in Kokomo and this storm was 1 in indiana in 2013 well
You guys are very lucky , Wish i had such a job ..
Kokomo (like Toledo and Flint) is such a tornado magnet. Gets hit for every little excuse.
this missed our house by less than a 1/4 of a mile (north of Greentown, In.)
I live in kokomo to I live on richmond and I go to maple crest the damage gateway and uaw was terribly sad I coudnt beleive it
It was crazy, I'm just glad no one lost their lives.
@@CloudChaser1981 that day was a high risk
those are the worst kind of tornadoes, other than at night time. can't even see them coming
I saw the aftermath in kokomo, absolutely terrible. : (
Yeah it was pretty bad.
Its what were all thinking! What happened to the praying mantis? My understanding is that it is fine!!!!
Anyone watching this in 2020?
9-17-20
Well im confused the trees were barley moving when you done the oh shit...
That's what I was thinking. I was born and raised in Kokomo, and that looked like a rain storm....must have been further away from them!
I live in Indiana and what i got to say about that Sunday i thought it was going to be peaceful and then i saw the pictures of the twisters in Illinois and i was like oh later we had tornadoes and were i live we had a tornado watch but not a tornado and i saw that kokomo had a tornado warning and i was like this is not a peaceful Sunday and were i live we had a severe thunderstorm warning i didn't go to church that day so my reply is wow i always wanted to see a tornado by the way
Well I hope when you do see your first tornado you will be in a safe spot and that it is just going through some fields. It is something you will never forget.
i rember as a kid me and my dad were chasing a thunderstorm in Australia Victoria it was fun
0:00 gamemode:rain wrapped
Looks exactly like what i went through just NE of Lafeyette that day. Unfortunately, i was even closer than this. We decided not to post that video anywhere.lol
It was. Why not post the video?
whats your facebook link or to your fanpage
this is in indiana?
+Trey Drinkard Yes, because I live in Indiana.
This made national news. I can't believe the devastation
That is one huge tornado are you in a suburban 2006 cause I own one
What's with the crazy amount is dislikes?
there was an EF-5 BY ME IN Oklahoma
I live in logansport Indiana it was very scary
Lmao 😂. She said "what are you O' shittin about"!
must have been really early in the spring, most trees were still bare
It was November 17, 2013
My uncle is lucky too be alive because the tornado flung a house at his truck. It landed a couple feet in-front of him though.
U guys are doing a good job taping
Thank you.
I just wonder how people can even live in areas, where your home could get detroyed by a tornado every day.
Been doing it for 40 years. It's not hard...just worry about it when one is headed your way.
*****
ok, now its all clear for me, thanks man. But i would still prefer living in new england
aw55550 every state in the United States has been hit by a tornado. They don't occur every day.
I always wondered this too. Why anyone would want to live in Tornado Alley is one of the world's greatest mysteries. But there are stupid people in every corner of the world so you can just ask why someone would want to live where there's earthquakes, or hurricanes. I'm glad here in PA, all I have to worry about here is snowstorms and they're hardly worth getting upset over. A couple of inches of snow is nothing like getting your house mowed down by a tornado.
Lindsay Grove
Really? So they're stupid for wanting to live there? Maybe you're too stupid to read a couple of replies - a guy living there has already explained that the chances of getting your house hit by one are slim, not much different than being hit by any other natural disaster.
這是什麼影片?
LOL It's MEGA MANTIS!
I CANT GO TO FREAKING SAMS CLUBS NOW!
Good call ! go opposite side the building. Good video out windshield clean glass good wipers made this BEST! incar simple radio follow and view!
Thanks. Gotta love rain-x best stuff ever while chasing and trying to film. Also had radar going on phone. Like to keep it simple so I can pay more attention the road and what the storm is actually doing in front of me since I really don't have a navigator or film person. Its usually just me. In this video my girl came a long and helped with the radar.
Fred Thompson Put this on full view and be one of the first with monitor screen wipers.
0:00 wtf is that praying mantis
And wow, NO tornado sirens in this town. :O
I live in Kokomo, there IS sirens actually, just they didn't set them off. I guess the tornado was too weak? Idk, I was FAR away from the tornado and sirens when it happened.
The Mantis is a Girl! She has a Face Book page... I love her. She at LEAST got people talking back and forth and the kiddies LOVE her too. I had my pic made with her when I was home for a short spell Dec before last. The Lot owner has put a Sandwich shop behind her! Get by there sometime if you can! :) CITY OF FIRSTS, ya know! :)
Why didn't they TURN ON the tornado siren when the tornado was there and a tornado warning was issued WTF, I don't understand y they were not turned on knowing there WAS A TORNADO 😱😨😮
Thankfully I saved 3 seconds and did not watch entire thing but the other 5:17 I'll never get back.
So.... driving around looking for the tornado, then surprised when they find themselves near said tornado? Makes sense. But if you're gonna hunt them down to video them, don't run away when it gets interesting. You sought it out, now stick it out.......... no pussing out.
All houses made out of wood and paper walls. Great place for a tornado.
did teys survive i hopw i hate when people die :(
Wow, this was....well, it was...yeahhhhhhhhhhhhh..........
Wow
Praying mantis survived i guess
the tornado just hit your car
What are tornadoes purpose its never a good one
Dr. Kenneth Noisewater Question answer fail.
It’s something to do with creating equal atmospheric pressures. They have a clear purpose, it’s left to is to figure it out.
My hometown and where i still reside. Tornados have been bad the last few years. And for the comments on the praymantis statue that was the doing of our awful mayor i think its ugly and it has nothing to do with subway just where he decided to put it
Turn OFF autofocus!
Badass praying mantis.......
What is this 'mantis' everyone is talking about? ._.
it's just a statue of a praying Mantis right there at the beginning of the video.
how do you not see it? it's all over the screen at the beginning it is not hard to see at all.
Leroy Allen I was looking later in the video when they kept talking about it. Not the beginning. I thought they were talking about a different thing.
+Leroy Allen idiot.! its a TORNADO video not a cheap sci fi movie!
get a brain
another waste of time.....
