Our last sail of the season! It’s been full of the highest highs and a couple of lows sprinkled in there for good measure. Who’s been here since our last sail of last season from Grenada to Bonaire? 🇧🇶

My wife and I are in our mid 50s and we both have cancer. She's doing okay for now, but I'm struggling. I grew up sailing and we had hoped to retire at 55, buy a boat, and see the world. No chance now so we love your videos and watch them together. You bring such joy to our lives and we talk about how wonderful you are together. Thanks for bringing us with you.

I'm sorry to hear that. I am doing research on what might be causing it. Do you recognise what could cause it for both of you? Did you had any specific diet for instance? Thank you in advance.

Your riding the Humboldt current north one thing that really helps on shorthand long passage making is easy at hand food , we used to make up sandwiches and jugs of 1/2 strength lemonade. We would freeze some of the sandwiches and some lemonade, several big thermos of hot tea , it was a a savior in rough weather the worst is to have one of you to get dehydrated. Good snow skiing goggles clear or yellow work well in heavy spray or rain otherwise your eyes will get quite sore. Really enjoy your videos !

all of the compliments you have received thus far are well deserved and all I can say is ditto. For the problem with your skeg may I suggest getting a short piece of SS tube about the same inside radius as the skeg. Cut the tube in half lengthwise. Mount one end at the bottom edge of it were it meets the rudder and let it hang down a few inches over the gap. Let it into the skeg with a bit of grinding, epoxy and screw it into place and then a few layers of FG and fair and paint. The same idea could also use a rod or even angle iron.

Yes it's pretty tough winching up the dinghy by hand. Actually there is a way you can use the windlass disconecting the top part from the chain jipsey and pasing the halyard arround the Port winch on the mast to get a better angle and right rotation.
    Good luck with your refit

Parking your boat in this controlled no fuss way always gets respect in the marina.
One thing an old merchant captain and sail-sailor told me after I had sailed a lot of time myself, was how to make the shortest (radius) turns with a boat. When you sail (e.g.) forward, idle the engine and make a full swing of the rudder to its stop for the direction you need to go, now accelerate significantly. How prop and rudder are placed impacts the effect.

I so can't wait for when its my time, Upon the sea, my dreams set sail,
Beyond the shore, where winds prevail.
A life of work fades like the tide,
I long for freedom, oceans wide.
No clock to bind, no chains to hold,
Just waves and skies, a heart grown bold.
In every breeze, a whisper calls,
To sail away where adventure falls.
With compass true, and sails unfurled,
I'll chase the sun 'round this wide world.
    Retirement's gift, a life anew,
On endless waves, beneath skies blue.

Wonderful production you two. You chose to carry the dinghy on deck instead of on your davits. Were the davits problematic? Also, it looks like you have a steering stattion down below, but never see you steering from there?
