I'm Indonesian, and I live in England now to pursue my postgraduate studies and watching you guys in Jakarta my hometown, makes me feel like I wanna go back just for a while to my home. Really miss all the food there! And it's definitely true that most Western people really like Martabak! As you know, I had a potluck with my fellow students and lecturers to celebrate the end of the semester. I made cheese and Nutella Martabak and brought it to the event, and my Martabak got nominated as the best food by my lecturer, he's British anyway. He said this food is very tasty, chewy and unique 😄 I hope you enjoyed your time in Indonesia, cheers!
Hehe ah that’s so nice!! You’re definitely right - there’s something so different and unique about Martabak - perhaps we should have tried the cheese version to get a “real” taste but wow it was SO GOOD!
well... what i can tell you is padang is not beef, its a city in west sumatra known for its beef rendang and chicken satay (sate)... so sate padang basically means, padang's satay. Hope you enjoy all of the other indonesian foods! dont forget to try beef rendang indomie!
@@2Passports1Dreamor padang style sate. You'll also find Sate Madura (madura is also an island, it's sate usually has kecap (soy) sauce and peanut). Can be chicken, beef, goat. Padang sate. Sate means Skewer, and across the country there's a lot of different Sate Style. I see that some comments already explained the difference between Sate Padang and Sate Ayam. I want to point out that the soft textured meat on the Sate Ayam is most likely Chicken Skin instead of Intestine, bc AFAIK Sate Ayam don't usually include Chicken Intestine in it. The style of Sate with Chicken's Liver, Intestines, and Innards are not usually the Peanut Sauce Sate Ayam style. You can find those innards Sate as side dishes in Bubur Ayam or Soto Ayam places.
Padang is a name of city in Indonesia. Sate Padang Made from organ of cow (tongue, lungs, etc)and traditional food from Padang . I love tahu campur, u must be to mix petis (shrimp or fish paste) with everythings in the plate for sure with sambal also. If u eat sate for the next time u must be ask to who sale thats food about need pickle they give for free. Susu jahe try with duck egg also. mostly good if with milk no condense milk. To me, street food is the way to go in any country! (I rarely eat in restaurants in Asia or Latin America.) Not just because it's inexpensive, but because that's where you're going to find the food that the locals are eating, which is a big part of travel. I still remember the first time I tried satay in Singapore in 1991: what a revelation! 👏
sate padang unfortunately not beef, but chicken. and soto is soup. i think you should try. didn't expect you to be addicted to martabak. 😁exciting to watch your videos. adriana is very beautiful😁
For Vegan, Indonesia have a lot of authentic food, like Gado-gado, Ketoprak, Lontong Pecel, Bakwan Jagung, Bakwan, Tempe Mendoan, Kupat Tahu, Es Pisang Ijo, Martabak, Risoles, Pastel and many more
15:20 that statment make me goosebump 🥶 good choice you order the classic martabak manis kacang & coklat 🥰 when foreigners say "OH WOW" that mean tasty 👍🏼 enjoy Indonesia 🇮🇩 guys
The middle of the Chicken Satay is the chicken skin, not the intestine. For me, I really like the Chicken Satay with the peanut sauce. I hope you enjoy the food here in Indonesia
regular sate is using sweet soy sauce based *usually used on goat or beef for chicken usually using peanut based sauce . for sate padang, padang is region from sumatra island on indonesia usually using something like curry based sauce . on east java region there's sate using peanut based sauce but had some mix of coconut
@2Passports1Dream Sate Padang means padang style sate. Instead of peanut+soy sauce, it's a broth/curry like. Usually beef and cow's lungs. FYI, Sate Padang is actually made from beef tongue. The texture is slightly different from the beef. The sauce is made from rice flour with obviously some spices. That’s what makes Sate Padang unique. Enjoy our food 😊
The first satay that you tried was sate Padang. Padang is the capital city of West Sumatra, where this food comes from. The sauce is curry sauce. The second satay you had was sate Madura, which comes from Madura. You should have the martabak with cheese. It may sound strange to you to have a dessert with cheese. But, while you are in Indonesia. You should give it a go. It will blow your mind up. I'm Indonesian, but I'm in the UK now. I miss Indonesian food like crazy.
Or jakarta aquarium, local fishes... Currently best one is in bintaro... reachable by public rail transit station jurangmangu. The transit station is one with the aquarium mall and double tree hilton 5 star hotel😁
Jakarta is huge area (divide 5 major districts; north, south, central, west, east area) now u stay in Central Jakarta, Sabang is Culinary area near ur hotel, when in Jakarta worth to try Betawi Cuisine; Soto Betawi, Nasi Ulam, Gado2 (likes salad 🥗 Boplo or Cemara, Kerak Telor, Laksa Jakarta, Nasi Uduk etc. now ur eat it likes; Tahu Campur (Tahu Tek2) Sate Ayam it’s from East Java, Martabak Manis (sweet pancake’s) from Bangka island, hope u enjoy diversity of food from other regions
Those "fried onion/garlic" on some of the dishes that you had was actually fried shallots. also, the Satay Padang is different style from the satay with peanut sauce, but most of satay Padang uses beef tongue, that's why the texture is so soft and tender. When it's chewy, they probably mix it with beef meat too. :)
The Martabak Manis you try is also known as Terang Bulan. Lucky you try the original, chocolate with nuts (the original one using sesame seed, but now days it using peanuts, more easy to gets). Other topping you guys should try is choco with cheese. It strange for foreigners, but try it, it salty and sweet at the same time. Choco with banana is good too. And in more modern place the pancake batter is green in color (they called pandan) and red (they called red velvet).
We Indonesians love our food and drinks to be spicy and sweet, and the levels can be quite intense. So if you don't like things too spicy or sweet, make sure to order them less so. As far as I remember, there are three types of sauce we use for satay dishes: peanut sauce, sweet soy sauce with chili slices (commonly used on beef/goat satay), and Padang sauce (a mix of curry and other herbs, called Padang because it originally came from West Sumatra province). If you're trying to find vegan dishes with peanut sauce, here are some menus to try: "pecel" (without chicken/catfish), "gado-gado," and "karedok." As an added note, some sellers add shrimp paste to their peanut sauce. A variety of vegan menus can also be found at "warteg/warung Tegal" or "warsun/warung Sunda." When crossing the street, raise your hand; the vehicles will either stop or slow down, allowing you to cross (of course, this doesn't apply to all streets; you must cross following the rules). Keep exploring, stay healthy, and thanks for the great videos.
Indonesia yang kaya akan rempah-rempah dan itu tidak disangkal lagi semenjak dulu ..sebagai bumbu untuk membuat makanan atau minuman apapun akan terasa lezat bagi lidah orang manapun didunia ini..
I believe Adriana as a vegetarian would LOVED Kembang Tahu, that is sell at the same food truck of Susu Jahe (ginger milk). You guys should try it next time ❤
I think, I'm sure you recorded this video a long time ago. But I just want to say about typical Sate in Indonesia called Sate Ayam with peanut sauce actually originally from Madura region. Each region has satay food, such as Padang Sate, Taichan Sate, Bali Sate, Banjar Sate, etc. Also the same as soto and Nasi goreng/Mie Goreng with their own unique flavors each region. But I agree with you, with several types of sate, my taste is the same as you to prefer Chicken Sate with peanut sauce.
It's a shame you didn't try the cheese, chocolate and peanut ...it's a really perfect combination and at the very top level for martabak manis AKA terang bulan
@@2Passports1DreamWell that's right, the combination of chocolate, nuts and cheese is top level. The combination of crunchy nuts, sweet and savory chocolate and salty and savory cheese makes for an extraordinary combination in the mouth
For many foreigners, the concept combine chesee with something sweet like sugar, condense milk, and chocolate is confusing. But when you get hook by this combination, you cannot forget it. The best to hook them up is with martabak terang bulan (alot chesee choco dan condense milk as toping). I have a korean friend just like you guys, confuse in the begining. Now he hook up, he even eat bread with choco and chesee...
It would be best if you tried 'sate kere', which means 'satay of the poor'. It's satay for vegan and it's a popular street food in Solo. It's made from tempe gembus. Gembus is tofu dreg. But don't be mistaken with the sate kere which comes from Yogyakarta. It has the same name but is made from cow fat.

I still remember the first time I tried satay in Singapore in 1991: what a revelation! 👏
Soooooo true!! We completely agree 😍 it’s a brilliant way to get a different and new view of the country or city you’re visiting 😍
yeaaah gotta agree! I do go on street food tours in my travels. I also believe that's how you taste the authentic local food. 👌🏼
sate padang unfortunately not beef, but chicken. and soto is soup. i think you should try. didn't expect you to be addicted to martabak. 😁exciting to watch your videos. adriana is very beautiful😁
Oh interesting!! Thank you 😊 oh yes martabak is sooooo good 😍
No. Sate padang usually use beef and beef tongue.
oh sorry. i think its chicken because its size of beef like chicken meat
Great sharing. Thanks. 👍👍👍😍😍😍
Thank you! Cheers!

It was sooooo good 😍😍
yummy 😊 enjoy Indonesian Food guys, 🎉
So good 😍
Good to see tourism videos of this beautiful couple....
Thank you! 😃
The middle of the Chicken Satay is the chicken skin, not the intestine. For me, I really like the Chicken Satay with the peanut sauce. I hope you enjoy the food here in Indonesia
Oh that makes sense! It was so tasty 😍
regular sate is using sweet soy sauce based *usually used on goat or beef
for chicken usually using peanut based sauce
.
for sate padang, padang is region from sumatra island on indonesia usually using something like curry based sauce
.
on east java region there's sate using peanut based sauce but had some mix of coconut
@2Passports1Dream Sate Padang means padang style sate. Instead of peanut+soy sauce, it's a broth/curry like. Usually beef and cow's lungs.
You'll also find Sate Madura (madura is also an island, it's sate usually has kecap (soy sauce) and peanut. Can be chicken, beef, goat.
Sate Taichan, mostly chicken, doesn't have sauce, however it's served with sambal and salty stuff (I think it's mushrooms)
Sate Lilit, this one Balinese style sate.
And others.. these are the most common ones.
Oh interesting! Thank you for the info! 😊
FYI, Sate Padang is actually made from beef tongue. The texture is slightly different from the beef. The sauce is made from rice flour with obviously some spices. That’s what makes Sate Padang unique. Enjoy our food 😊
Thanks for the info!
great video! I'm going to book myself a flight to Jakarta just for the food at this street!
😍😍😍
I hope you enjoy and have a good experience here 🙏
Thank you!!
Hi love your vlog. Got inspired to go to Indonesia and explore and now we are here finally! Where is the food market located? Thank you so much🎉
It's in the description box under 'sabang street' :)
Tq so muck to your video, enjoy Indonesian countri ❤
You should try going to PIK 2 which is north of Jakarta, an interesting place to visit
5:57 they use shrimp paste for the sauce
11:49 and it is ginger milk, because jahe means ginger in English
Martabak manis with chocolate + peanut is perfect combine. You can choice half choco peanut and half cheese. It's perfect
Hehe cheese sounds interesting but we loved peanut and chocolate 😍😍😍
The first satay that you tried was sate Padang. Padang is the capital city of West Sumatra, where this food comes from. The sauce is curry sauce.
The second satay you had was sate Madura, which comes from Madura.
You should have the martabak with cheese. It may sound strange to you to have a dessert with cheese. But, while you are in Indonesia. You should give it a go. It will blow your mind up.
I'm Indonesian, but I'm in the UK now. I miss Indonesian food like crazy.
Oh I see!!
Anda harus explore Taman Mini Indonesia Indah...beautiful place
Or jakarta aquarium, local fishes...
Currently best one is in bintaro... reachable by public rail transit station jurangmangu. The transit station is one with the aquarium mall and double tree hilton 5 star hotel😁
for satay, in the middle is not intestine but its chicken skin
Waaah kalian habis plezir ke kota ku... Kapan ke jogja lagi.?
Jakarta is huge area (divide 5 major districts; north, south, central, west, east area) now u stay in Central Jakarta, Sabang is Culinary area near ur hotel, when in Jakarta worth to try Betawi Cuisine; Soto Betawi, Nasi Ulam, Gado2 (likes salad 🥗 Boplo or Cemara, Kerak Telor, Laksa Jakarta, Nasi Uduk etc. now ur eat it likes; Tahu Campur (Tahu Tek2) Sate Ayam it’s from East Java, Martabak Manis (sweet pancake’s) from Bangka island, hope u enjoy diversity of food from other regions
Agree, Indonesian street food so delicious
9:09 in the middle part of satay actually is chicken skin, you can asked for all meat to the seller (abang-abang = mas = big brother) 😊
😍😍
Those "fried onion/garlic" on some of the dishes that you had was actually fried shallots. also, the Satay Padang is different style from the satay with peanut sauce, but most of satay Padang uses beef tongue, that's why the texture is so soft and tender. When it's chewy, they probably mix it with beef meat too. :)
Oh I see!! Thank you! 😊
Sabang full of great street food, glad you enjoy them all
So good 😍
The Martabak Manis you try is also known as Terang Bulan.
Oh cool!! Thank you for the info 😍
Thanks for coming jakarta Indonesiaa❤
Thank's tour coming in Indonesia🙏👌
😊😊
You have to try Indonesian fast food, called Richeese Factory. If you like a challenge, try level 5
Oooh 👀😍
A variety of vegan menus can also be found at "warteg/warung Tegal" or "warsun/warung Sunda."
When crossing the street, raise your hand; the vehicles will either stop or slow down, allowing you to cross (of course, this doesn't apply to all streets; you must cross following the rules). Keep exploring, stay healthy, and thanks for the great videos.
We love spicy and sweet 😍😍😍
Good call on getting the martabak one more time, probably not the best one but probably better than the one u guys had before
It was SO GOOD!
Indonesia yang kaya akan rempah-rempah dan itu tidak disangkal lagi semenjak dulu ..sebagai bumbu untuk membuat makanan atau minuman apapun akan terasa lezat bagi lidah orang manapun didunia ini..
I believe Adriana as a vegetarian would LOVED Kembang Tahu, that is sell at the same food truck of Susu Jahe (ginger milk). You guys should try it next time ❤
Ooooh next time!! Thank you!
Hmmmmm ok maybe next time 👀😍
@@2Passports1DreamWell that's right, the combination of chocolate, nuts and cheese is top level.
