Great supportive video. I love that you said a hat could stand in for a jacket as a 3rd piece. The idea of trying a capsule wardrobe with a new color is just what I've done. Hot pink. Tangerine orange with white as a based. I put on the white linen or white denim bottom and a top and wow. Sometimes I wear monochromatic deep pink and I love that. My other capsule is white, black and flax( tan or beige). I have a beautiful tee stand I bought when our Macy's was going out of business. 1/2 is my neutral capsule 1/2 is my pop of color capsule. I always have something I love to wear. Thank you for showing me the way. ❤❤❤

Nada, I am glad you mentioned weight change in this video. Over the past year, I have lost over 40 pounds and changed sizes pretty drastically. I have done a major closet edit and have bought some new clothes (before I started watching your videos, so there are some mistakes in there, I am sure!) I was afraid to get rid of everything that is now too big. So I have kept some pairs of pants, always the earliest garment to not fit when sizes change. I labeled them "too big" and put in them in my storage area in the basement. This way I still have them if needed, but I don't have them in my closet confusing me about what I can wear now. One of my issues in the past is that I would buy things too big for me to "cover up", which we know just makes us look bigger. So, many of my pieces from before were way, way too big. I do feel that I have now found an eating system that will keep me at near my current weight, but keeping a few things just keeps me from worrying. I have watched other stylists' videos who all advise putting together a capsule wardrobe of about 12 things which are focused on neutrals, and that has always seemed too restrictive and minimalistic to me. I like variety! I like me some color! I like basics, and I like statements, too, but not always the same kind of statement! So, building clusters is a more manageable concept to me. I know I likely have several clusters right now, and probably some things that don't fit into any cluster. I will take this idea and spend some time in my closet making clusters. Thank you!

Great...love your using language that "weight change" works both ways, up and down, and both are normal. Embrace your best self whatever your size and shape! I really love that this is what you are all about

Your enthusiasm gets me so excited! I always end up in my closet trying on things and having fun. By the way, your 70’s video really appealed to me. I love your concept of style freedom in this decade. Dare I say that I feel sexy again. Not the same as my 40’s, but a wonderful kind of freedom and confidence!

Wonderful content! I need your voice when deciding what to sew ;) I tend to have what I call the "squirrel" issue (there was a greeting card with a dog looking forward saying "HAPPY", then dog looking to the side "SQUIRREL" , then back to forward "BIRTHDAY" ) I have enough fabric to sew several wardrobes, but in the middle of a project, I'll get distracted by something else which has no relation to the current project. Also, like the different sizes idea. That's why I don't cut out my patterns, I trace, usually altering to fit better.

What is the best way to organize/lay out your capsules? I feel like I have all solid bottoms, but many "orphan" pieces. I probably just have too much of everything. I have a hard time letting go, but working on that. Buying new wardrobes every season is not eco or budget friendly. Any suggestions welcome!

I went from size 0 to size 8 between 2016 to 2021. I have all the sizes in between the two extremes. I am down to size 4 now, a comfortable size to maintain. I do plan to sell size 0, 2, and tops jackets and dresses that don’t fit (I gain shoulder and upper back width from swimming).

How does the cluster work in The closet? Are the cluster items grouped together ?

    • @NadaManley
