    Cattle will consume salt and minerals if they need it. In Central Montana, we had pastures where the cattle consumed it, and others where they wouldn't ever touch it. That was all during summer grazing. I wish I would have kept track of consumption, and then tried to find out why different pastures had different levels of consumption.
    Love how your cattle always come to you they way ours always have. They all look great, you are doing an amazing job.

      Thanks a ton! I feel like the minerals get consumed more during the summer. I’ll have to watch it closely. Are you raising Angus up there?

Miss Complete has a special bond and love for you. I love watching you interact with her but, really all of them. I need some of that pretty land to just be outside with nature.

    🤔🤔 Probably going to need a drainage pipe at the top of the pond ti prevent it from eroding and eventually causing a rupture.
    The erosion along the fence could be back filled with gravel / riprap then some. That will allow it to drain without causing more damage. If it were me I would build a trail and put in some French drainage.
    As fir the goldfish and algae eaters they will not stop your algae issues. Goldfish will eat duckweed not algae. Not that kind of algae.
    Algae eaters ate misnamed. They seldom eat algae and then only at certain stages of their life and certain types. Depending on the species algae eaters ( plecos, armored catfish ) will eat wood, vegetation or meat and some are omnivorous ). The troughs are clear because it rained and throughs overflowed.
    Put a solar charger unit on the troughs and a UV sterilizer and small pump inside of the troughs. Also put a small bale of barley straw in the water. It will release a chemical that inhibits the growth of algae and is harmless to livestock.
    Good luck with your land, livestock and RUclips channel. 👍🏽✊🏾✊🏿✊🏽

    I’ve been lucky keeping my water troughs clear by running an inexpensive submersible pump to keep the water churning. A super cheap bilge pump on a small solar panel works in remote areas.
    To start off I clean the troughs with simple hydrogen peroxide. It’s safe for my animals and very effective to clean existing algae before filling. if any algae starts to form during the hottest part of the season I add a little more peroxide to clear it.

    just idea while I am thinking about it you see how your cattle were almost getting stuck on the banks in that mud and how they just churn it up into more mud by walking there , I am not sure but would adding sand to those area's help them from sinking as bad sink the sand doesn't absorb water like regular dirt and is harder when wet then when dry? Just a thought i have no idea if it would work but would keep the dirt out of the water as bad if the pond had the sand on top since it settles faster cause its heavier then regular top soil like dirt also.

    Beautiful place. We've got a place west of Gatesville and have been enjoying the rain filling up the tanks like you have been. For your erosion issue, we had an almost identical situation - I'd try redirecting the water that runs down the cattle trail along the fence by putting in a shallow berm starting at the fence line at a shallow angle across the slope that redirects a lot of the water out into the grass in the right of the video frame. It looks like that's still going to eventually drain to the pond but you could extend the berm as far as you wanted across the slope to try to minimize the erosion in the future. It might end up just creating a ditch in a different place but it might be a place of your choosing and give you your fence line back for ATV travel. Erosion from water flow on ranches is a real pain to deal with.

    • @PrideRanch

    • @broderickpride9124
      @broderickpride9124 Месяц назад

      @@prodigalsonharrison5377that is a difficult question to answer. Where do you want that acre to be located? Is it in the city or country? Is it in an area that is growing or not? Typically the smaller the size of the land the more expensive it is. You can purchase land for $3,000 or $5000 an acre if you are buying 2,000 or more acres at a time. Or maybe you go to a small town in the middle of nowhere and you might be able to get land for the price you are thinking. But I doubt it.

    Also for those water trawl's for the cattle and those gold fish and suckers it would improve the water quality for them as well if you could find small aerator with solar of course you would need to put inside that fenced area or something to protect the pole cause we all know cattle and horse all love to rubber on stuff, lol reminds me of those old car wash brushes people buy and reuse as cattle scratcher's now a days they seem to love them a lot lol!
