were ever your gate opening is, make the gate made out of wood because they know they can rub against it. I use wooden gates now for 2yrs and it works great. I learn by watching a Joel salatin video. Its under Justin Rhodes videos and its called Joel Salatin teaches pasture pigs. I learn a lot of how to raise pasture pigs
Yes, i have watched that video countless times. I actually designed our paddock to be that way once we get our cross fences up. What breed of pigs do you raise, and how many do you raise per year?
Butcher Benny Tee on RUclips. He’s a pro at butchering and has some great vids (for sheep) I understand having a hands on instruction though for sure. We ended up just doing it. I feel pigs are a little more tedious (especially if you skin. Main thing is taking your time and having everything set up. I really like learning from Billy at Permapasture farms as well. Really like seeing you process and journey! Keep up the good work!
Yes I like to be hands on learn how instead of watching on RUclips university when it comes to things like that. So i know what i am hitting or feeling for. I watch Billy aka PIMP lol. Apprecthe kind words.
@@7FarmerSidney7 I’m looking seriously at the Red Wattle. Also like the Hampshire. They will be raised in my silvopasture. I’m only looking to start with two or four.
I was looking at Red Wattle x Tamworth, but the breeder i was trying to get them from did have them bred in time, so we went these three different breeds.
I would not free range pigs but the ones I've kept in pens are easier to control. They're actually quite intelligent as long as you don't overcrowd them( same as humans). Pigs will actually use one corner of the pen to deficate and pee and the opposite corner to eat and sleep. I have a shelter for sleeping and I don't overcrowd my individual pens.

Each thing we raise is an opportunity to learned new skills. Congratulations! You look like you will do well with these new skills.
Thanks Dwight. Yes it is. Two more months today, and they will be in freezer camp
You guys are doing a great job, keep doing it please, so good video, very informative about raising pigs, you should have thousands of views.
Thank you! Will do!

Hi Farmer sydney. Great video. Can you share a link to the pig class?
This was a in person class that we took. We learned about it through a East TX Homestead Co-Op Facebook group
I really like your sharing, the farm is wonderful, can I visit if I have a chance?
Appreciate the kind words. Sure when would did you have in mind?

@@musicgroopie1 We don't free range, we pasture raise.
What breed do you raise?
What is the YT channel name of the guy you learned from?
He does not have a RUclips channel. It was a local friend of ours from a Facebook group.
4:32 Yep, they'll learn quick. lol
It only took that one about a week or less to learn lol
Do you raise any pigs?
@@7FarmerSidney7 I don't but could tell from your video. We did raise one in a very tiny, confined pen (all I had)
The Mrs. needs a microphone. :)
Haha she does not know how to use her country voice yet. It's only been four years now, lol
