"Campesino" made me tear up a bit, but that's the deep reach of the beauty and majesty of music, and why it's the universal language. I saw Lila Downs here back in 2010 (or earlier) and later opened for her at The Bakersfield Jazz Festival. Found that an old colleague was singing backup for her and it felt like a small world. Now Lila is singing about "clandestinos" aka 'illegals' and the subject cannot hit home more. I've always has a soft spot in my heart for undocumented immigrants, growing up among so many in Central California, but while I try to emigrate to UK in the midst of the Brexit era, this song has never felt more poignant Please keep on keeping on Amy. You're one of the best and we need you now more than ever!
