My m1 Mac mini with 16gb of ram is starting to show its age. I have a lightening hub connected to it. I have 2 monitors, a Canon pro 100, Canon prograf 1000, Canon prograf 4100, a Epson sublimation printer, a 2tb USB c hub, speakers, a 10tb backup drive, microphone, and keyboard plugged into it. Most of the time I have three printers running at the same time and in the middle of that I will be either editing photos or some small 4K video projects. And I think I am over working My Little Mac Mini too much. But I am impressed that it still chugs along but I need something bigger and I've been looking at the M2 Mac studio with a minimum of 64 gigs of RAM but I think I should use 128 gigs of RAM to future proof it, not sure if I go with the max or ultra chip but if I am going to future-proof it I should go with the ultra. But I'm hoping they come out with a new M3 Mac Studio soon and I can just get that. But if I am investing Love the channel thanks for sharing
Thanks! I honestly think 64GB is probably enough. I have 32GB on my laptop and I only have issues very occasionally with 20+ chrome tabs (yes I have a problem lol) and 3 Adobe apps open at the same time...and both chrome and adobe are the most ram hungry apps around
@@learningcameras hey thanks for taking the time and replying. Yeah I think 64 gigs will do just fine for what I need to use it for. I do love how Apple can pack such a punch in their smaller units compared to a fully built windows pc. But I think I might wait till this fall to see if they do come out with an M3 Max studio
Great video, I might go this route. I have a Caldigit TS4. Question, do you use a switch for the Mac studio and Macbook pro to use the monitors? I have both as well.
Does it not bother you that your laptop screen is blocking a portion of your monitor. That would mess with my OCD so bad! Nowadays a top recommendation for someone like you would be a Caldigit TS4. Fast USB transfer speeds, better refresh rates on your monitors as well. You look like you could justify the cost for your usage and setup
How exactly are you routing the speakers and the simple analog adjustment device to the docking station? I have a Audio Interface and Rokits and not sure best way to connect the speakers to the audio unit
So my speakers are either plugged in to the laptop itself or there is a headphone port on the docking station. I don't have an interface personally. But with the interface you can plug it into the anker via USB most likely. If your interface is USB C, I might try using an adapter and plugging it to standard USB type A to see if that can power it just because I wouldn't want to use up the few USB C ports we have on audio
It's actually 2 desks. The main one is from Ikea and the L shape one on the right is a adjustable height desk that at its lowest setting just slides under or at the same height as the main desk!
I have the same Anker dock and the same audio monitors wired via the 3.5mm jack. There is a persistent clicking sound when the speakers are on. With or without music actively playing. Thoughts on a fix?
I have a similar setup. I use the LG ultra wide monitor and the dualup. However, I m using two HDMI and getting 4K on my ultra wide but my dual up is not showing the right resolution options. Do you know what can I do to fix this?
Cool setup, but 4k@30hz... sounds painful, imo not worth it for a 1 cable setup lol, especially considering the other 2 monitors will be capped at 2048×1152 (taken from the official site).
Yeah, not sure why the monitors are capped at 2k. I can live with 30hz since I don't do gaming but 2k is fine for video previews but text isn't great if you have a 27" display. You can always use another display port or hdmi out from your MacBook though and have 2 cables connected
Thanks Brian! You nailed it... I either go with the fast setup of the MBP Webcam or plug in one of my cameras for the import stuff when it's worth the 10 minutes to set it all up lol
One of the best in-depth reviews I've ever watched. Thanks for the video!!
Appreciate that!
I am in love with your setup ❤!!!!!! Great job on the video, I’ve finally found a video that properly showcases the anker 10 in 1!
This is exactly what I have been looking for! Thanks man.
Awesome!!! Glad it helped
Would be interesting to see a cable management video of this setup! :)
cool, you remind me of my brother. Not. sure why, he is just a programmer but always has the coolest stuff. Thanks for sharing.
Hahaha..that's awesome!
@@learningcameras Silicon Valley Programmers have a great life. As a regular photographer, I can't even undeestand what half this stuff is for.
Can you close the MacBook
Pro and still have the 3 monitors running? Or does it need to be open the whole time
Do you have to have the Mac book open in order to use the separate display? Also what displays are you using?
Hi, thank you for the review. Are there any more affordable DOCKS that you can recommend?
I purchased the dock for my m3 MacBook Pro, but am not able to get non mirrored monitors, how did you accomplish this?
Literally what I'm trying to avoid as well
You have to download their software and have it running....hope that fixes it!
Got a link?
@@lapaquette The software is called Display Link. www.synaptics.com/products/displaylink-graphics/downloads/macos

hello Dan can you please help me. I bought one of this for my desktop apple but for some reason its only displaying on two screens instead of three
what hub did you use before? i cant find the link as stated in video.
Great video, I might go this route. I have a Caldigit TS4. Question, do you use a switch for the Mac studio and Macbook pro to use the monitors? I have both as well.
Great review, thats exactly what i was looking for
Hello question, I have a MacBook Pro 2019
Would this work for a 3 monitor setup on that MacBook?
I think on the 2019 you can only pump 2 monitors...it's a graphics card limitation
An amazing setup man!!! 😍
Appreciate that bro!

Hi Dan, this was awesome to watch! Does this work with an M3 MBP as well?
Thanks! So I can't verify it works with the M3 since I'm still using M1 but it should
Did you have to install DisplayLink software or anything like that which you have to kept open always?
I had to install the displaylink software to get 3 monitors...otherwise it worked without it
We just subbed !!
Appreciate it!
Great setup- Serious question- The desk looks sturdy and looks to be an L shaped which is what I'm looking for. What desk are you using? Thanks!

Not sure...I don't have that with my setup. Definitely try changing the 3.5mm cable and maybe try running that cable far away from any power cables

In order to get the 3rd monitor working, I had to use the software included with the docking station
Could you link to the mixer? I can’t find it anywhere
Which monitor you use for video editing, can we need Adobe RGB monitor, 2020 colour monitor for video
BenQ makes some of the best for color accuracy

For editing stuff it's not that serious
Cool set-up! What do you do for a webcam? Use the Macbook's webcam? Or one of your mirrorless cameras?
Thanks Brian! You nailed it... I either go with the fast setup of the MBP Webcam or plug in one of my cameras for the import stuff when it's worth the 10 minutes to set it all up lol
no decklink card?
