Thanks for sharing today Chris, I enjoyed the video, especially your scrambling with the comm port, one of my more common mistakes!

$88 plus tax is not a bad value. You can do the same with Sonoff SV a 12v smart relay module unit and a Zigbee door switch for about $25.

I couldn't find a link. I went to your web site and searched but still couldn't find a link. Only link I found was to a device that uses a tilt sensor.

Can you stop the door half way and then close it?

    Thanks for the vid.
I will echo a previous comment here that you can accomplish the same goal with a Zigbee dry contact relay for less than $25.
I avoid WiFi based devices whenever possible…Zigbee devices are more reliable, lower cost and fewer headaches.

Interesting comment about Zigbee being more reliable than WiFi. I haven't had issues with my WiFi devices. I run Zigbee, Z-Wave, and WiFi devices in my environment. So far, they all seem to work equally well.
For a quick DIY device for those that don't want to build out the dry contact solution, this fits the bill. Does it cost a bit more, probably. However, it is more plug and play and that same concept is why one might pay more for a product at a local corner store rather than driving miles to a grocery store. It's the "convenience fee".

Did you ever find out what the "str output" was for?

It's a 12 volt output for a strobe according to their docs
defn not the best name to call it str though tbh

How is this different from ratGDO?

Well, It is significantly more expensive :) Might be okay with Genie doors, but if you have a MYQ door, ratGDO is the way to go. Being able to tell my garage door to open to 30% when my laser is running for ventilation is awesome.

      Agreed I love my ratGDO!

ratGDO is made for digital door openers. It's targeted to those MyQ users that want to use those openers with their smart home platforms now that MyQ has closed access. I think Konnected also has a version that can do that now.
This device is a contact closure device. I have a cloud connected Genie, but I find their connectivity to be lacking and had some significant outages when I first moved in to this house. I ditched the cloud for a local control.
