I know you may not see this but a suggestion. Rent a wheel chair and a few other different mobility aids and run them around the shop before you open but after the renovations are done. You will learn a lot about the accessibility of the store. Its one very eye opening look at the way others move.
Thank you for thinking about disabled patrons, it makes all the difference! I hope they will be mindful about pets in store as well, as disabled people with service dogs should be able to shop safely too. Lovely to see some thoughtful suggestions here.
@@Kiki-in7mg I Am disabled which is why I suggested it. I just recently upgraded from a manual wheelchair to an electric scooter. I always try to suggest this to any RUclipsr that I see opening a stick and mortar store. We are the overlooked and forgotten demographic.
I 100% agree with you regarding the store tour. I have been in a wheelchair for over 11 years, and it is horrifying how inaccessible a lot of businesses are to people with disabilities. Sometimes the aisles are fine, but the area allotted for turns is not easily negotiated. Also, please make sure the entrance accessibility is sturdy and feels safe. Also, make sure there is access from the car to your doorstep. You laugh, but I’ve seen it happen. I live in the U.S., and too many businesses follow the “letter of the law”, but not the “spirit of the law”. They are just checking off a box, when the reality is quite different. Best of luck with your new venture. I hope to get to shop in your online store someday.
I think you would do well with a Lost Cauldron stationary line, including wax and stamps, in the shop and eventually be one of the easier to ship items exclusive to the shop.
My thoughts on your plushies.... have you considered special adoption certificates etc. I am sure children would adore the whole concept of adopting a plushie, naming it and giving it a 'Forever Home' Plus a special box/room of its own, or bed, or purch, etc. I know you're only renovating still but just wanted to throw an idea your way. 😉
Cherry you should do a subscribers meet and greet. You will totally overwhelm the little town and see just how much you are loved and appreciated for all your magical ✨️ and whimsical 🎉 influence you've done over the years. My grandparents on my dad's side live in Matlock and I've visited since I was little. It's a beautiful location and keeps you fit with lots of steep hills. There's a big Sainbury's there which is ideal for parking and there's a castle overlooking the town. Matlock was also the main filming location of the 2004 independent film Dead Man's Shoes, which is far from the escapism of Harry Potter but still a gripping and very well-made thriller. I'm planning to visit again in the summer so I'll certainly visit and it would be amazing to meet you in person. Wish you every success when it opens.
@@magicalpensieve There are some beautiful places to visit. They filmed the 2011 Jane Eyre with Michael Fassbender at Haddon Hall. There's also Chatsworth Hall which is five minutes' drive from Matlock and you can see deer in the grounds.

I ❤ this! My aunt has renovated an old historic house to turn into a shop (I've been helping). It's crazy how many steps it takes, hoops you jump through, random details you would never notice but are important to the overall. In one of her rooms I hand painted different quotes on the crown molding. She did a blue ceiling in the upstairs hallway with sparkles added into the paint and we're going to "stamp" golden/bronzy stars on it! Hopefully I'll be helping create an owlry inspired detail around the mailbox with an area for larger packages as well.! Love your videos and I'm very excited/happy/all the things for you on this new adventure in your life!❤

Personally, I'd love to see some stationary featuring art from artists you worked with (or had planned to work with) at The Ordinary Owl and even, if you can sneak some in on occasion, stationary with your own art, seeing as you are an artist. I still use the note pad from Ordinary Owl as my grocery list paper to this day. 🙂
I'd like to see you sell christmas ornaments and halloween decor, lawn ornament (like decorative lawn picks/ stakes), shirts/ hoodies/ jackets, hanging wall decor, book boxes/ decorative boxes/ trunks, wind chimes, etc.
I know it could be messy and a lot of work... but could you pretty please consider the possibility of doing a live in the opening?😊 I mean in as in during the opening at some point, so those of us who can't be there phisically can also join in the fun in a way😊🤗❤️

You could do a soft opening of the store either as a subscriber meet and greet or a little before, so you have a test run before you’re fully open.

great idea: the little cauldron you found that you based the name off of. when you open you should hide the cauldron around the shop every week and have people try and find it. just to add a little fun to the mix.

I absolutely need to come and visit, with empty luggage 😂 I already know I need your plushies, when you said bat and small owl I cried.
Personally, I'd love to see some stationary featuring art from artists you worked with (or had planned to work with) at The Ordinary Owl and even, if you can sneak some in on occasion, stationary with your own art, seeing as you are an artist. I still use the note pad from Ordinary Owl as my grocery list paper to this day. 🙂

I'd like to see you sell christmas ornaments and halloween decor, lawn ornament (like decorative lawn picks/ stakes), shirts/ hoodies/ jackets, hanging wall decor, book boxes/ decorative boxes/ trunks, wind chimes, etc.

Just an idea: what about making a loss cauldron recipe book with decals you can stick on a crock pot? I would absolutely love that. I have a cauldron and a large fireplace and I often cook with it on Sundays. It's become a bit of a habit. It would just bring a little bit of daily magic.
