You always have a special relationship with your first film camera. Mine was the pentax spotmatic. Really great shots and colors. I especially like the one at 2:51. Also, love that choice of framing and window light at 1:05
50mm would be great for portraits and medium landscapes where you're not too close and not far away. I would say 50mm would be a good for a beginner, but a 28 or 35mm would be best.
I think I’m a minority here but I was disappointed with my AE-1. It was my first camera (I started photography on film) but it just wasn’t quite what I was looking for. The battery died in the cold, the plasticy shutter speed dial wasn’t great, and the meter drove me crazy. Whatever floats your boat, I guess.
Agreed. Not for me, but I understand why it’s a good beginner cam when not pushing its limits. Now it’s definitely not worth it’s price point but goodluck convincing the masses haha
@@metalfingersfilm For sure, most of my work is outdoor/landscape so I need a more rugged and reliable camera. Obviously, this isn't everybody's use case and the Canon AE-1 covers most needs.
Ok, first time wat her here. I'm not even like that but you you are a beautiful man. I'm a man and I'm straight but holy fuck dude. Calm down, my girl on this app.
Have you guys used the AE-1? What are thoughts on the system? Is it the best beginner film SLR?
I have the Canon a1!! I think it is better!!
@@spyratekodaks7494 most definitely. however, being a cheaper, and a 'consumer' camera, makes it great to learn on!
Nikon has a more lens diversity, body features and most importantly, the still relevant today F-mount that dates back to 1959.
@@slr7075 truth!! the f-mount alone is a justifiable reason for it being the best alone, in all honesty.
@@slr7075 yes, but the price is a little bit high for most of nikon cameras!!!
