Its been a while so I forgot a key detail that it was Nomura that was the hold up with Sora’s inclusion in smash. My mistake.
However, According to YoshiP, Disney IS the hold up with the inclusion of the game in XIV as he has stated the licensing is too complicated.

I found it funny in retrospective how many people said that Disney wouldn't allow Sora to appear in Smash Bros. but then it was revealed that they were completely in favor, they just had to ask Nomura to approve it since he was the series creator and had to give his final blessing, but he wasn't so sure to include Sora because he though it would contradict the canon of the series
I'm heartbroken if they keep remaking games but skip over 8
The story of 8 would be perfect for the kind of writing Square likes to do now, with the timetravel elements
I mean that style of writing is mostly CBU1.
So it would be good if CBU1 did a remake of it, especially since Nomura, Nojima and Kitase worked on the original.
But that style of writing is not really a thing in CBU3 for example. So it depends on which team does it.
Agreed squall will have a nero exceed mechanic. And it should be a 2 part game as opposed to 7 trilogy.
but, on the other hand, it's better for ff8 to be skipped, than to remake it with half effort,

i will be more heartbroken if they release FF8 Remake and it end up being a flop and everyone thrashing the game.
if they didn't feel like remaking it, then, they should remake something that they can put 100% of their mind into.
@@jensenraylight8011 Kitase thinks that if there is going to be a FFVIII remake then a younger team from Square Enix should do it, which I think is a bad idea because the younger team doesn't have that much experience and would certainly leave out a lot. In FFVII Remake they try to get every little thing across, be it a dialogue, an NPC that only appeared briefly, or other things.
FF8 Remake has nothing to lose and probably has the easiest chance to surpass its original version , just by rethinking the battle system alone and modernizing the graphics. FFX and FF6 would be far harder remakes , nearly Impossible to please most FF fans no matter what direction Square took. I'd like to see Square tackle FF8 though and leave everything else alone unless completely new staff were creating the games with no influence from old heads.

7, 8, 9, and 10 are all good picks for remakes, but poor FF6 never gets anything except bad mobile ports that look ugly compared to the SNES original.

The Remake better fix and rewrite all of the original IX’s many problems, especially Garnet’s stupidity and the poorly done love story of her and Zidane.
So as far as a 3D remake goes(not triple A like FF7R) we've gotten FF3 and FF4!! I know many are gonna disagree with me but I think FF2 deserves one too!! I think it'd serve the game justice and better character development like it did with FF3(I'm not a fan of the Pixel Remaster of FF3 the only reason I played that version was to get an idea feel for the OG, turns out this is actually my least favorite in the series) otherwise I think FF5 and FF6 definitely deserves a remake if not then in general deserves better!!

8 would be the worst game for a remake their are plenty of other final fantasy games that are better like final fantasy 6 for example.

I was in disagreement until a thought of how it could it be done in such a way to expand the lore and flesh out what we've already seen. Revived my own desire to write instead.

This is also the only one I really want. There's so much room for overhauling the mechanics, its whole aesthetic would work really well with a more modern action combat system and a major graphics upgrade, and so on.
Final Fantasy 9 was absolutely legendary. My jaw was dropped the entire playthrough. The perfect combination of the old and the new and it was the original creator of Final Fantasy games last game. He wanted to go out with a bang by bringing back the old Final Fantasy and combining it with the new. It was a masterpiece and we can learn a lot from it.
Same. I played X/X2 first, then went back to the previous games. 9 really left a permanent impact on me. 7 was good, 8 was good, but 9 was my favorite.

@@KingRynoD.LeonhartTMB Square Enix has historically neglected VIII. They even lost the source code for decades. It just doesn’t appear to be a priority for them. I’m still hoping to be proven wrong though.

In my view the greatest FF track ever produced. When that scene happened I was hit with a wave of emotions.
In a remake, that scene would be the greatest in the series. It would completely break the internet. And that animated show adaptation that's also been teased, that would hit some hearts for sure

FFT is such an amazing game. And the fact that you can get Cloud in your party is so cool. Cloud and Aerith ending up in Ivalice could be it's own spin off game or maybe a DLC for the third FF7 Remake.

Makes sense the focus is shifting from FFVII to FFIX, even the upcoming expansion for FFXIV is gonna focus on FFIX stuff, they're even introducing a new class called Viper who uses a double bladed staff that can separate into 2 daggers which is basically both of Zidane main weapon types
The pre order for Dawntrail (ffxiv's new expansion) even goes as far as giving a zidane minion, and an Ark mount lol

I’m really happy to see FFIX finally receive some much-deserved love but ngl I’m wary of a remake. There’s plenty of things that could be improved through a remake but I’m worried about what could be compromised in that process, most especially for me its distinctive and endearing art style
FFIX has hands down the best art style of any FF. Its absolutely amazing and makes the world feel so whimsical.
In an Interview Nomura stated that Disney was all too happy to bring sora into smash, but it was Nomura himself who didnt want to do it for quite a while.

FFIX without slow-as-molasses combat is an amazing proposition.
FF10 is the closest to my heart but I loved FF9 so much and it makes a lot of sense for them to remake it in conjunction with releasing the new animated series. I just hope that someday in the nearish future there will be a full-on proper remake of FF10 like FF7 is getting as well as a X-3 sequel.
for those looking to replay FFX, there is a FANTASTIC mod for the international PS2 release, the PBIRDMAN mod.
Its insanely in depth and heavily tested and debugged, been having a blast on a 100% run.
The debug gives u so much freedom too

X has HD version + tons of mods on PC. Besides, it already had voiceovers and holds up greatly compared to most of JRPG games produced nowadays, so I don't see the point in a remake. Except if you want it to be another 3 part 10 year waiting game...

Not really, just means the title is not CURRENTLY in development. Not that it’s NEVER being remade. Kitase has said in interviews he’s interested in remaking that game.

I really hope Square starts putting more effort into advertising their games because both FF16 and Rebirth were incredible experiences to me (i have both platinumed!) but all this talk of sales has me nervous dksndos
They shot themselves in the foot by making them PS exclusive and on the PS5 which at the time had hardly any sales compared to PS4 but thats because covid really messed things up. Exclusivity is the worst thing for both consumers and companies. Now that SE has finally realized that hopefully their IP's will be treated better

FF9 is one of those interesting games where the more you've played FF, the more you love it. FF9 was my first ever FF game, early elementary school I watched my uncle play FF8 religiously and he let me "borrow" his FF9 discs for PS1 and he never cared to ask for it back. Thank god he didn't because I was absorbed, even as a kid I loved every aspect of it.
I'm 29 now and I've gone on to play and love pretty much every game with Final Fantasy in the name, and play them to near 100%, all of this has made me appreciate FF9 more for all its cute references to the old games, a true love letter to FF fans. I'm really hoping the remake keeps that vibe.

I love the locations as well - it felt more populated than the other FF's imo. There were some really cool ideas for stuff too like the upside down castle was cool :D

Final Fantay 9 remake was on the nvidia leak. Most other games in that leak have already come out. However that was before Square announced they were pruning a lot of their projects.

Seeing as next year is FFIX's 25th anniversary, I can see the Remake being announced for a summer 2025 release. Just hope SE doesn't format the story in the same vein as FFVII Remake. The anime might be released either late this year or early next year tho.
Hopefully Final Fantasy IX Remake gets the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth treatment and be multi platform from the start as to get more sales. However keep true to the original story with no plot ghost things that alter it. I'm also hoping they use Unreal Engine 5 for it's development.

To me, it makes sense to remake FF9 first. Then like 10 years from now get a FF8 remake that looks absolutely insane.
I never got to play IX, but I saw the story and liked it. I even like Zidane and Kuja in the Dissidia story, so I really would love the chance to play IX at long last. I hope that they do fix certain issues like how the final boss was handled.

If any of these were actually in development, it was recently announced that they decided to cancel some games due to their recent focus of "quality over quantity" according to various news sources.
The fact that they decided to port Kingdom Hearts to Steam as well as stopping their Sony Playstation exclusivity in general is proof that the company is facing financial issues.
Do you really think out of those cancelled games, an FF or KH title would be among them? Come on now, FF and KH are in the top 3 of Square's franchises.

@@TheSpectacledOwl Kitase recently said that a theoretical 6 Remake on the scale of 7R would take 20 years. I'm pretty sure if the 9 remake is real they won't try to do anything too ambitious with it like 7R. This is all speculation but it would track with how 7R hasn't been too profitable like you said. They'd be safer just making 9 remake a 1 to 1 with better visuals.

Hell, I'd appreciate it more if they went back to sprite-based games, if not Octopath Traveler-style games from here on out. Most likely, I'm in the minority, but that's where I stand. Sadly, Square Enix is more than happy to shove aside their old fans like me in favor of catering to a new & modern demographic. That's how I see it with their recent releases, at any rate.
KH stopped the Sony exclusivity years back with the release of KH 1.5 and 2.5 Final Mix being released on Xbox and Epic.

I somehow missed the kingdom hearts games. Every time I thought about playing them something else came out and I missed that whole story. Is it worth it to go back and try them? Or just do whatever new game is gonna come out
FFIX was an amazing game! But if they give it the same treatment as FF7 remake then no thanks. I'd rather just get a remaster with updated graphics and flesh out some more of the story and side characters. The OG story is already amazing and the pacing of the game is great

After all this time, Squarenix complaining they're not making money, when all they had to do was... release KH on a platform I use! I'll be buying it now.
I already own physical copies of a lot of KH games, so I just could not bring myself to buy it on a platform I did not want to use (EGS) when I'm not exactly desperate to own it again.
Convenience became key. Having it on steam just hit the spot.

I’m excited for an FF9 remake, but I think FF6 would be even better, it stands more to gain from a graphics boost. 9’s cinematics still holds up, and 10’s remaster makes a remake just unnecessary.

I just finished ff8 a few months back. I really enjoyed compared to when i played it earlier. Im hoping they remake 8. They can even add more background story to the villian.

My first Final Fantasy was Final Fantasy 9 so I can't wait for the remake! I just hope they keep the cartoony aesthetic the same.
I want to see a remake on FF6! I'm also looking forward to seeing the update on ff9 as well. But I was first introduced to Final Fantasy world through 6 and really enjoyed the story.
4:59 I got the feeling the Nintendo ports will come after the successor to the Switch drops. Same as Persona 3 Reload’s port likely being held back on Nintendo for the new system. Just my personal thoughts on it.
9 is my second favorite Final Fantasy game with 7 only slightly beating it out and it just says to me how fantastic both games are. So if it's getting a remake I'm there, especially if it retcon's Vivi's death because I've always hated that. Every one else get's their happy ending but Vivi it's a minor annoyance on an other wise awesome finale for me. It just feels tacked on rather than built up naturally so yes I do want that part changed.

I know all the other things mentioned are rumors, but if you think about it, SE really has alot planned with FF9 Remake, KH and the collaborations, as well as the development of the FF 7R part 3. Assuming all of the rumors turns out to be true, it would show that SE is going all out on their IPs and game releases! Which would also fall in line with the new changes they've decided to make!😊

We have enough FF X remakes lol. It looks beautiful on PS5 and I'm happy with that. I was happy with the PS3 remake lol 🤷 they need to bring back the old character models and make them HD. I liked the original PS2 version better but i cant play FF X for the PS2 lol its too old. We need to combine the best parts of both together into one perfect FF X PS5 Remaster with the original character models remade into HD but without losing the nostalgia this time around 👍

Still feels strange for me to think of Sora and KH as Disney properties. Sure, KH featured Disney characters, but looking back, it feels more like KH was doing Disney a favor by bringing their characters back to life.
I can by no means say that any Kingdom Hearts game would be any worse off without the Disney characters.
In fact, in my opinion, KH games and stories would have been much more enjoyable with newly created characters and worlds that didn't just rehash the story of old Disney movies, but in a worse way.
Could have actually told an interesting story in each world instead of just half-assed attempting to retell the story of Disney movies.
I swear that if they give FFIX the FFVII remake treatment with some Kingdom Hearts style bullshit I would never in my whole life buy another Square Enix game and make my life mission ruining them

Hopefully, the Final Fantasy IX remake is coming to Switch 2 as well. If it sticks closer to the original than the FFVII remake trilogy does, I'm definitely considering a buy.

I was trying to play FF9 on switch as I never got to play it, stopped at ice cave smh but the remake will be welcomed once it's modernized & do way with this grinding hell.

FF9 was my first ever Final Fantasy but I could not complete it back then since both, the Game and the PlayStation just were borrowed and I had to give it back as I was on Disc 3 of 4 or something like that. It's too damn long ago but I remember Zidane and Garnet and that little Wizard-Guy who wanted not to stop and reminded me of Orko from He-Man. ^^

FF10 doesn't need a remake WTF? The fact that it was even rumored, geez. It's already good enough especially considering the fact that it was the first to get voice acting and had a damn good remaster already. FF6, 8 and 9 should be the ones on queue right now for a remake.

Even though 9 is the more beloved. 8 has the most potential as far as a remake.
This is a massive move for SE. They are recovering from a massive loss and they are not changing the prices on any of them. They are waiting for more people jump onto the Kingdom Hearts Steam Edition bandwagon and then hopefully releasing Missing Link with more chapters and fixes than revealed in the first beta.
But this also means that they are pushing all content into Unreal Engine 5 with Disney in its entirety in UEFN. Disney has already planned for a OASIS to happen with the rest of Fortnite. It’s a matter of whether we accept being a massive part of the journey or we make our decisions outside of Unreal Engine and all things connected to it.
People are already expanding Fortnite with multiple different assets in multiple different art websites. And with even more Unreal Games being worked on who knows if any of those games assets can actually be accessible to the players in this new OASIS. (Ready Player One Reference)

I don't care about Fortnite or anything from Epic, but that info about Nintendo Switch 2 getting KH4 potentially lines up with the recently announced change in strategy moving away from Sony exclusivity. Makes me think this has been in hot debate in SE for awhile now.

I'm honestly glad FFX isn't getting a remake. Any games after IX don't really have a need for one in my opinion. Better focus on the older ones first.
