It’s because nobody coaches the position! The coach just sticks you back there and expects you to know how to do everything, especially at a young age. Nobody ever works with the catcher with whatever issue you might be having in game, they just expect that you will do it right the next time it happens. If you have the time and a field, you can set up a bucket at 2nd base and try to hit it, and keep practicing it until you get more accurate and faster, and then continue practicing it. The other thing is if you can afford it, go to some catcher clinics and see if that helps. Sometimes watching videos can help you figure it out, but unfortunately you have to practice it on your own time, because for some reason coaches like to put the catcher out in the infield and make them do infield drills at practice.

When I played, I just rose up and took my throw stride without moving my right foot. It pivoted, but not moving forward. My pop time was amazing and I threw out majority of runners.
