Hardy Sandhu(Hardavinder Sandhu) was a professional cricketer& has been roommate to Shikhar Dhawan, Suresh raina, Manoj Tiwary and other cricketers of 2004-05 under 19 batch. He played ranji trophy for Punjab in 2005.
I think he did a commendable job in this movie because this movie gave him a chance to relive his unfulfilled dream of representing Indian cricket team.

Indians didn't trust India to bring home the World Cup at that time, this film is not about winning world cup it's about earning Respect. The Real-life images and scenes from the actual match is one of the best things of this movie. Ranveer leads the film and he gets massive support from the rest of the cast members, they all have important parts to play which gives a beautiful final product. After the film there is only one thing to say ‘The Cup Is Ours’.

That is how the criminal and druggie Bollywood gets us. Take a subject that is emotional to us and we fools would fall for their trap and give our hard earned money to these buggers. Our real "heroes" got us the world cup and it is quite emotional and exciting to us even today. Now these buggers made a movie on that to fool us to take our money and they even roped in the emotional, non-suspecting great players too for this movie promotion. Jai Ho India ka.

This movie was really good. One of the best sports dramas made here. But why it has a rating of 5.6 on imdb. It deserves at least 8/10. I am pretty sure those ppl haven't watched the movie and are putting negative reviews because it's a film made by bollywood which is now hyped up by media as druggiewood and what all shit. No matter how much people shout about nepotism, drugs cases etc, it exists in each and every place. Back in 2017 a drug racket was caught in tollywood, and in Hollywood there are many known actors like RDJ,Johnny Depp, etc who have involved in drugs but still people don't boycott them, right? So guys don't maintain double standards. Ab bollywood finally kuch original banaya hai remake ke alawa tab bhi support nahi karoge then u deserve remakes.

Thanks a lot Jamie😄

Last few years, we've been seeing so many quality movies (Tumbbad, Sonchiriya, Jagga Jasoos etc.) getting flop in the box office and crappy movies like Race 3, Tiger Zinda Hai getting blockbusters. So it doesn't actually matter. The great Satyajit Ray himself had said 'We have a fairly backward audience'. So it's nothing to be surprised of. This movie will always hold a special place among genuine cinema lovers and particularly, cricket fans like me☺ Let keyboard warriors carry on with their work.

Actually, many would say that the reason why 83 flopped is the "boycott Bollywood" trend that has evolved since SSR's demise. I agree that sushant will be in our hearts forever and his talent can't be questioned, he was indeed a gem. However, if this was the case, then why was Sooryavanshi a box office hit? It's just that Indian audience are nothing but hypocrites. Nothing but films with an overdose of romance, creepy item numbers and illogical action scenes get a chance to become a "box office hit". The best example is that the disgusting RACE 3 and the masterpiece ANDHADHUN were both released in the same year, race 3 earned ₹213 crores while Andhadhun earned ₹74 crores. This clearly shows that most people don't have a "taste". I'm not a fan of Ranveer Singh but 83 does not deserve the hate that it's getting. What I loved about it was that from the beginning till the end, it focused on one thing which was the sport itself! No stupid romance, no stupid item songs, no creepy scenes. Just pure beauty. I pity our audience that they're not giving this film a chance and are using words like "flop movie" "disaster movie" without even watching it!

The victory of team India in the *'83 World Cup* didn't just lead *India* to become the world champion, but also had a tectonic shift in the manner in which the game was looked upon all over India until then, eventually transforming the game into a religion in itself. So the on-screen depiction of that true event could never be short of an ode to it.

What an arrogant childish jerk Ranveer. I’m so glad this movie is a big flop and he will have to forego his fees to recover losses. Always remember his father paid Aditya Chopra crores of money to make his first movie. Something the common man cannot do. He’s also related to Anil kapoors family. So he’s a nepo kid. Also I can’t picture anyone else but Sushant to play Kapils role. May Ranveer have more flops in the future.

Let’s not forget Ranveer Singhs father gave 30 crore to Aditya Chopra to make a movie with his son Ranveer as the lead which lead to his first movie Band Baja Baarat. . This is something the common middle man can never do. Support the movie but don’t support the arrogant jerk Ranveer who had everything handed to him on a platter. Not mention how nobody cared about Sushant before he died and suddenly becoming a god like figure to people after he died. I'm not hating on Sushant before you put that fake allegation on me, he was a great actor but that doesn't make Ranveer any less of a great actor either. 83... After a long time did I find a bollywood film that made me go gaga over it completely...
Right from the basics like acting, screenplay, story, bgm....
To the additional elements like comedy, costumes, cameos... This film has everything...
It made me laugh, cry, cheer, hoot and honestly at some point people around me thought I have lost it... but that's what the film did to me.. I couldn't care less...
It has an ability to grip the audience's attention at literally every point. And that is what worked its magic on the screen...
Ranveer Singh, Tahir Raj Bhasin, JIIVA and Pankaj Tripathi are my top 5..
My parents also told me actor Chirag Patil as dad Sandeep Patil looks exactly the same... they don't know about this genetic relation yet I guess.. How cool..
Ranveer Singh's dialouge delivery moved me to tears like every 15 mins ...
And there are 2 cameos that I absolutely LOVE... I guess people who may have watched the movie may know...
This movie should not go down because of political ideologies, cancel culture and the idiotic coronavirus. I cannot see the hardworking of these amazing teams, the reel and the real.. Go waste..
I cannot bear other directors not taking up projects of a certain kind because idiocracy of some people does not allow those projects to grow commercially...
Also, Kabir Khan mannnnn!!! He has to be the star because when the whole movie is wholesome, complete package.. Then it's the director who has worked the charm!!
    DO. NOT. MISS. 83.

As someone who is a big cricket fan but has seen cricket as being Indias pride all my life (born in 2002), this movie made me understand and value Indian cricket and the stature it has today. From being viewed as “easy opponents” to being a team that everyone fears. We may have only won 2 world cups but I realized that the other teams fear our team because they know the day they try to underestimate us, we will have another Kapil Dev step up and fight for the spot that we have today. I have a lot of respect for Kapil Dev and the entire team and I’m grateful for them to create this movie. With the context of the story of the 1983 World Cup and the events that took place, I’m much more prouder to be a fan of the Indian cricket team. What a movie, what an event and what a man (Kapil Dev). This movie gave me goosebumps and refreshed childhood memories for my dad. This is not a movie, it’s an experience and should be enjoyed in theatres. Amazing job by both the 83 team and the 1983 team. Btw I’m born and brought up in Canada.

West Indians were shown in face with Indian audience -- You thought it was excessive, why? did you ask Kapil's wife whether it happened as it is? did you confirm the cinematic liberty that Kabir took? and did it miss to capture the emotional sway of Indian audience? Its always disappointing to see analysts talk about these aspects without its intent, context and dramatization!!
