Yeah, This is where we go for a short distance or short on time rockhound trip ! We went here under the bridge on 4th of July at 98°. Surprisingly wasn't too crowded and we found a good haul.😀
100% you should! I have really found a shovel works well for moving a lot of rocks around and exposing more agates. Let us know how is goes on your next outing.
no it looks like you two have found ALL OF THEM AND LEFT ME NONE! 😅😂😂😂. it's ok I found a huge leaverite pile FULL of some of the nicest pieces I have seen on the Columbia while fishing lol nice finds you two👍👌🤙 @@maplemegbradley1713
Really enjoyed this video, just subscribed to your channel. What a nice & sweet couple you are! I hope your puppy is feeling better. Very beautiful and stunning stones you found! Mindy 😊
My best friend had a house on this river right down from where you were. So cool to see that place again! We've had some awesome finds there in the past.
Megan's favorite is literally all of them...every time. Our apartment is over run with agates. We love it. The first aid kit came in clutch. Big shout out to Megan's mom for making that for us!
Woah, you guys did really good! I love looking through wet gravel on a rainy day :) thanks for sharing your cool rock adventure, this is not too far from me, being from the Portland area. Although I have some good rivers down here too.
Thanks for the comment! I’m glad you enjoyed it! I love rockhounding on a rainy day. Definitely brightens my day, and the best time to look. It’s a great spot to look, so many hidden treasures. But, there is also so many other amazing spots just being in Oregon. I want to adventure them all! -Megan
Thanks! We are glad you enjoyed the video. Maple has made a full recovery and is back to her wild self. If you go to Amazon and search for Rockhounding Washington, you can "Look Inside" the book. Washougal River is 18. We were at Site B and have had great finds each time there. Not so much good luck at the other Washougal sites listed in the book though. - MMB
Hey, we also have the book. However, we live near Portland so the Washougal river site was the only practical option for us for a quick day trip. Would you recommend any other sites in the book?
I recently moved to Portland. I went to the washougal river on Monday and it was super flooded! I’m still acclimating to the climate here. Will definitely go back when the water is lower!
Great finds and a sad ending with Maple getting injured. I doubt that calm and relaxed is in Maple's DNA though. Next time I get out to Washougal I will have to take a walk on the river.
I love pnw weather! Have you ever heard of the word "manuport"? It's when a human picks up and moves a rock but otherwise leaves it unaltered. The Makapansgat cobble is the oldest known manuport and it looks like it has a little face. I just love thinking that ages ago, people were walking around and thinking things like "this is a cool rock!"
No I had never heard of that term before! That’s so interesting! Yeah that’s so amazing to think about. So much beauty to appreciate from millennia passed.
I rockhound near this spot along this river and have done so for half a decade. When you go to the Washougal, please pick up garbage as you go. I wouldn't recommend it for off - leash dogs or children, as there is a fair bit of GLASS in the rocks from past trash. The Washougal is my favorite river - it has given me incredible stones, bones, glass, ceramics, and feathers. I have seen it in every season. Sometimes I only go to pick up litter. Please don't ruin this beautiful environment - it is a healthy river and I really want it to stay that way. Sometimes there are sketchy people there, so it is ALWAYS best to go with a buddy! Please be kind to my river.
0:49 the tan/drab olive rock with what looks to be a red band on it beside the black salted rock ... I just cut something similar to that... omg... the hardest thing I have ever tried to sand... that looks sooo similar
It use to be riverside bowel boat launch. Now Çamas skate park. Going up river takes you to the sandy swimming hole. Farther up river is Hathaway park. That's just a few in Camas /Washougal city limits. So many more up river.

woot, new channel worth following. Awesome to watch and listen:)
Thanks, Giedrius. That really means a lot to us.
Whaaaaaaaat, I've been to that spot a few times in the last couple months and haven't found anything that cool. 😏 But, I will keep going back.

My favorite is the large greenish rock with brown accents!
How nice to have a first aid kit for your dog 🐕💕

@@maplemegbradley1713 Yes this was fun to watch. Rockhounding in the Northwest is great!
Solid finds! You should head up stream from that location.
The current gameplan: 1) get a house, 2) buy kayaks, 3) be literally unstoppable for river exploration!, 4) find all of the agates.
@@maplemegbradley1713 I like that plan!
hi to both of you and hi to the dog, like the video, some real cool find, enjoyed
Thank you! We really enjoy getting out there and having an adventure. And it is a bonus that we get to share it with like-minded enthusiasts. - MMB
@@maplemegbradley1713 thanks, and welcome to thecaptainshow
What a sweet beautiful dog! The rocks are nice too lol!
Thank you Jeannie. Maple is a fluffball of energy and love. She makes every adventure memorable. Of course, finding agates is an added bonus!
Poor Maple! Great finds though. I enjoyed your video.
This is amazing! I can't wait to check this spot out. Hope Maple heals up quickly

Nice finds, I grew up in Washougal and have been to that spot countless times. I hope the shovel wasn't used to dig in the banks.
I live in a house right behind you. Now I know why there are always people looking and picking at the rocks….wondered why people
nice gravel bed , sweet finds , i subscribe

Oh wow! I’ll have to inspect it closer now. So many unique agates you can find. Thanks!!

I searched at this same beach and only found two of them. You probebly stole them all lol
So sorry about Maple.
I know right where you are! I live there!

You folks got a gem of a spot
I walk the 4 wheeler trails after a rain they tear into the banks trying to climb them... free mining 😁
Where is that location?
What beach are u at? Thx
Hi💐
Please give directions to this place. Went to the river in briefly in March and could not find a nice gravely beach.
Google Roundtable pizza. It's right across from where they filmed and you can cross the bridge right next to it to get to where this was filmed.
3:30 , 5:50
I live in Washington State also I live near mt. Rainer
My sister couldn't find access to the washougal?. Is this an obvious spot or secret?
