He doesn’t know his life is short, for him it’s just his life. You are making it a happy, full, and loved one. Thank you for loving him and making his time on earth happy.
Strange as it may seem, I think this is one of my favorite things about animals. They don't really know or care if they're terminal, or disabled, or missing a limb, or what have you. They're just...them. And they just keep on living their day-to-day. As someone w/ his own chronic illnesses, I kinda try to take inspiration from that.
@Meryem Hammutoglu All of our lives are always at risk, however what Hannah said towards the end about focusing on the present, as animals do is very touching and true. Think about it, even if you knew you had 10 days left to live; would you spend it feeling sorry for yourself, or would you go out and do all of your favorite things? I'm not trying to be a b*tch, just trying to shed a different light on the situation. For all of us; tomorrow is a gift; not a given.
Chimpy doesn’t even know he’s sick! He just knows that he’s in a home with loving guardians to dote on him, two standoffish sisters, and a loving big brother to play with. He gets treats, playtime, love, and catio time. He’s living his best life with you and Andrew.
Dear Kittenlady, Am 76 years old, and am a veteran with cancer. Every once in a while, you tear me up!. Just cannot say enough good about how you are caring for that little kitten. Love, Joel
I feel for the mama cat. She doesn't know modern medicine exists. All she knows is, "My babies are sick and they are suffering, and I can't take care of them the way that they need," and she does what she thinks she has to for her little family to survive.
I just found out I have kidney cancer and had to have a my kidney removed. This is the first RUclips video I watched since my surgery. I have to go threw all this alone and I’m not a tiny baby. So I can only imagine how this guy was feeling before he met you. Im so thankful for people like you. People who are strong enough to take on the the toughest of cases. Im so glad he has you and gets the chance at the happiest life any kitten could ever want. Thank you for doing so much for these little guys who would never have any chance without you.
@@sandy_sd10 I am. Lost my kidney and have to go in every 3 months for the rest of my life for ct scans because it’s aggressive but they think they may have gotten it all for the time being so I couldn’t ask for anything more than that I suppose. I don’t feel crummy anymore either and to me that’s huge. Thank you for the kind thoughts
Ferguson lives like he’s never had kidney disease nor takes medication daily!!! that’s how we all should be like. thank you so much for saving this precious life ❤️
Ferguson has the best support system!!!❤ Unfortunately not all humans have that and it makes it hard to keep the spirit up when you live with a chronic and/or terminal disease.
Beautiful video. And I agree, it's heartwarming to see his daily medication routine; I wish that all animals, and all of us who are sick, had the same spirit and support that Ferguson has. This is a lucky baby to have his days filled with love. Thanks to @Kitten Lady for giving him (and all kittens) that. BTW...best foundation for playing the harp is to be a cat: Hold your paws up at the wrists, curled, with beans down (always facing the floor), and play strings by contracting the paws like you're making muffins.
As someone who is living with end stage kidney disease, seeing little Fergie living his life to the fullest is inspiring. Thanks for the vid and I hope that Fergie lives a good life.
My cat was diagnosed with terminal kidney disease too. He lived for 8 years after the diagnosis. Each year when we’d bring him in for his annual exam our vet was amazed that he was still alive.
@@its_not_it_apostrophe_s i guess it depends on the type of kidney disease. Does anyone remember "grandpa mason"? The vets gave him 6 months, but he continued to live for almost three years 👍
Seeing Fergie thriving and rocking his water mohawk, riding on Andrew's shoulders now over a year later makes me so happy. I know he's going to be dealing with his chronic illness for the rest of his life but he's truly living his best life in the best hands he could be in.
Omg this is so sweet! My mom and I were fosters for a humane society and we fostered this 10 year old chihuahua with stage 2 kidney disease and absolutely no teeth. We adopted her because after her shyness phase, her personality was so precious. Now, instead of being in an abandoned home with dirty water, she takes senior naps, goes for car rides/walkies, and get lots of love and treats! Even though I’ve had her for almost 8 months, it’ll truly be a heartbreaking experience when she decides it’s her time to go on new adventures. EDIT: It’s currently 3:30am February 12, 2022 and she had a home passing. It started off with stumbling, confusion, and constant tiredness. Tonight is one of the toughest nights as my other pup (11 years old) licked my now late 11 year old chihuahua as she was having seizures. She clammed up and relaxed with a slow breath until she slumped against my leg. I am completely heartbroken but extremely grateful that she got to experience so much love before her passing. Everyone with a furry friend, hug and love of them. Please. 💜
I really hope you'll have many more precious moments with your old girl! So glad, you were able and willing to adopt her! Thank you and all the best💚🙏!
He's such a little clown that its hard to believe he's sick. I hope he outlives his prognosis...and he does know he's well loved and well cared for. You gave him such a brilliant chance and are giving him the very best kitty life!
@@kristas9401 I guess you could say dying is the prognosis but in that case we all share it since every living thing dies. Sure this poor kitty is going to die soon but the vets Didn’t state when that would happen so no, there is technically no prognosis.
@@AlexanderMason1 She went to a specialist. I'm sure they gave some rough ideas of life expectancy. She likely just didn't share it with us since it won't be long. With how bad the kidneys are I doubt he will survive the year.
@@SohiHien death caused by kidney failure can happen due to many different reasons. It could be a week or over a year (maybe more depending on the condition and its advancement). I maintain that there is no real prognosis here, unless I’m missing something.
I LOVE that your “goal is goodbye” with 99.99% of the kittens. And I love that you decided to give Fergie a great life for as long as he has one. I wouldn’t have my wonderful cats if someone else decided to keep the kittens they fostered. Thanks for being a great foster mom!!

That's really cool of you. As someone that has volunteered in a shelter before, seeing seniors there breaks my heart. It's so much better for them to be in a home.
I adopted a beautiful black cat at 15 who had kidney disease. He lived to 20 and those are the best 5 years of my life. I can relate to your experience so much Camilla. It makes me happy to hear other stories like mine and Little Cat’s. Older cats are just amazing and deserve a good retirement filled with love, warm blankets, sunshine, and excellent vet care. Every day is a blessing to be treasured. RIP Little Cat 💕🐈⬛
I also adopted a senior lady with CKD at 17 years old who was brought in by her owner to be euthanized. 😢 2 years and 8 months later, she's thriving! She'll be 20 in March. 😻 I'm so glad that I was able to adopt her and give her a loving home.

I smile every time I see Fergie on your instagram nearly a year and a half after this video, giving himself a water mohawk or riding someone's shoulder, looking like a big normal cat. You've done incredible things for him!
Bittersweet tears were cried, flowing freely for both of you. You’re right, Hannah- Fergie is an excellent reminder to enjoy the present. You are such a contentious, caring kitty mom, Fergie will live longer than would be expected. I am looking forward to a few videos of Fergie - he's such a lively fun filled kitten, regardless if his size.

I lost one of my kitties a number of years ago to kidney failure and it was ABSOLUTELY BRUTAL to watch her wither away and no treatments were helping. I _still_ get chocked up if I think about that last visit to the vets to let her go :*(
Sending you so much love, honey.🥺😥😘 I lost my baby 5 years ago next month and I went through giving her treatments for her kidneys and cancer.😥 It's so hard. We do the best we can. Remember that you did everything in your power and that the love your baby has for you is still with her.🤗❤️❤️❤️
My heart goes out to you. We lost both of our kitties to kidney disease, one in March of 2020 and the other in April of 2021. It WAS brutal watching them both fight so hard to stay with us for as long as they could, yet not recover, despite everything we did to help them.
I hospice fostered a senior cat who was dumped when her owners realised she was very ill. She had mammary cancer and also advanced kidney disease. I only got to be her person for three months, but oh boy did I cry and cry when it came time to say goodbye. It hurt so much. I can't imagine the pain of losing one of your longtime pets to this heartbreaking disease.
I took in a stray senior cat that also has kidney disease. She gets IV fluids everyday, is eating good and is doing great. I will give her the best life for whatever time she has left.
I'm awed by the energy that you devote to kittens in general and to Fergie in specific. It's important to remember that humans can be this kind and devoted to enhancing the life of someone who can't bring them any reward but love.
What a sweet kitten. He’s being cared for so well I wouldn’t be surprised if he outlived his prognosis. Happy animals are longer lived animals, and he seems so full of joy. Thank you Hannah.
It's always devastating when young animals have congenital issues with no real possible positive outcome. We had a 6 month old corgi puppy at our practice, the sweetest little boy I'd ever seen. His pee was incredibly dilute, he was thin, and so many other symptoms. He had congenital kidney failure. At six months old, and he passed away within the month. We were all devastated to say the least. Believe me when I say giving him love and time is the best thing you could do for him. He's a fighter to be pushing through all this!
I cried, This poor sweet innocent kitty. You are such an incredible person for helping him and feeling such deep emotions for these wonderful creatures.
Why can't more people be like this? I know it's not always possible for every cat parent to take on a cat requiring this level of care, but this is a wonderful example of how these babies deserve to be treated and valued.
I've endured the loss of a beloved pet many times in my life. But I never give up loving another because I remind myself, " I could have missed the pain, but I'd have had to miss the dance." -Garth Brooks The dance is always worth it. ❤️🐾
Losing a cat is a really hard and sad thing. You know that the baby doesnt have much years yet you take care and love him, even though you know that its going to make yoy sad at the end! This show how much you are a kind and good person.
He may be terminal, but he doesn't know that. He looks to be very happy and loves his treats, which is definitely a good thing, haha. I hope you share more videos of him in the future. Thank you for giving him a forever home and the best life he can have for the time he has left.
Thank you for giving this little guy the best life possible, despite his prognosis. I had to put our 5 year old emotional therapy cat down in June for kidney failure and it was honestly like losing my best friend. We'd gotten him for my mother shortly after she'd been diagnosed with a terminal cancer and he soon became a source of comfort and joy for all of us, not just her. Not long after he turned 2, however, he developed ongoing bladder issues that would come and go no matter what the vets and we tried. He was able to hold on for us one last year after my mother's passing in May 2020, almost like he knew we needed him the most during that time before it just became too much and his health took a big dive this June. He'd been struggling with his health for 3 years by then and finding out he now had kidney failure made it clear he'd never have a good life (or what was left of it), so we decided our final act of love would be to end his suffering painlessly and lay him to rest in our flower garden where he'd loved to walk in ever day (even an hour before his final vet visit, which he seemed to enjoy very much despite his condition). Losing him brought back a lot of the pain I felt when I lost my mother last year and I miss them both every day, I still feel so blessed to have had him in my life and don't regret our decision to free him to cross the Rainbow Bridge. I like to imagine he's over there with my mother where they're both healthy and happy.
I’m so sorry for the loss of your mother and the loss of your fur baby. I have no doubt in my mind that they are both absolutely fine on the other side and that they pop in to watch over you and to celebrate your triumphs and comfort you during your struggles. Energy never dies. 💙💙💙💙
I don't think that really counts as a foster fail. If he had been able to be adopted out and you stopped fostering to care for him, then yeah. But I think you're in the clear.
i just wanted to thank you for showing your vulnerability here. this situation is obviously never easy on anyone, but i'm so glad that you've taken in fergie and you're caring for him and loving him. i'm sure he's going to have a happy, fulfilling life, no matter how long or short it is

You've done everything, EVERYTHING for this guy. Aside from an actual kidney transplant, I can't imagine what else you can do to prolong and enrich his life. The fact you're able to give him such quality care AND enrichment is the best possible thing for him. I'm sorry your hopes for the little man didn't come to fruition. But you're also so lucky to have such a wonderful guy to spend time with and appreciate all the bonus life :) And I know you know that. I guess if you're the type to romanticize things, you could say he chose 'you' ;) . I straight up cried watching this. Especially the duet between the two of you at the end

When my first cat I've ever had passed away, we went to the shelter to just see, visit and maybe give a cage break to a cat. We went home later that day with the most scroungy black cat I've ever seen, adopted. They said he had a maximum of 6 months left to live, he was a street cat. He had alot of things including Fiv/flv. He was an angry guy, but at the same time he had some sweet moments. We took care of him as best we could. He lived for 2 more years and defied all odds. Im so glad he has you and gets the chance at the happiest life any kitten could ever want. Thank you for doing so much for these little guys who would never have any chance without you.
I hope youre doing well or will fell better soon after the kidney surgery! And can draw strength from little Fergie in the video. :)

My cat was diagnosed with terminal kidney disease too. He lived for 8 years after the diagnosis. Each year when we’d bring him in for his annual exam our vet was amazed that he was still alive.
It's amazing what our animals can do. Did you have to give him meds every day?
Wow. So it's by no means a death sentence. Let's hope Fergie can enjoy many more years to come.

I guess if you're the type to romanticize things, you could say he chose 'you' ;) . I straight up cried watching this. Especially the duet between the two of you at the end
Can there be found a kidney for a cat? If transplants can be found for humans, they can be found for cats, too.
@@btsfan7531 unfortunately there's no way for a cat to consent to giving a kidney so it's not a viable option.
My dog has just gone blind from diabetes and this is so comforting. Don't think about what may happen in the future, just cherish the time you have now.
💛💜🖤
When my first cat I've ever had passed away, we went to the shelter to just see, visit and maybe give a cage break to a cat. We went home later that day with the most scroungy black cat I've ever seen, adopted.
They said he had a maximum of 6 months left to live, he was a street cat. He had alot of things including Fiv/flv. He was an angry guy, but at the same time he had some sweet moments. We took care of him as best we could.
He lived for 2 more years and defied all odds. It's sad to imagine him gone, but I'm so glad we could make the last year's of his life the best ones he's probably had. I hope we had an impact on him.
I hope you have many more WONDERFUL moments with your little babe!
Aww poor kitty, at least he'll be able to spend his last days happy and with a loving family.
I think he will live for a pretty long time with the kitten lady,Andrew and the cats especially as 2 are girls and will look after him.😇
@@IconicallyCat Unfortunately, that's not going to happen. Yes, he's going to live a happy love filled life. But, a short one. His condition is a terminal one.
@@Catalina2808 you don’t know he might live longer
@@IconicallyCat female cats dont necessarily love kittens actually, in fact coco and eloise greatly dislike kittens/other cats (as you may have noticed by how freaked out eloise got at ferguson climbing), so i dont think they'll be looking after him much ^^; but haroun, hannah, and andrew have plenty of love for him! a short happy life is better than a long suffering one either way
@@jimharris2808 especially with the one and only kitten lady
And now he is about to celebrate his first birthday. Every day he is alive is a miracle!
This story makes me think of Thurston Waffles, another one of a kind cat, who also had kidney disease. His parents tried a new experimental stem cell therapy for him which seemed to work well I wonder if that would be beneficial for little Fergie 🥰
I was thinking about the shrimpy boy too during the video 😭 wishing both of these good boys well
I miss Thursty and his stumping. Long live the Shrimplord!
Now he shrimpin!!
The thing is, his kidneys are completely malformed. Stem cells can work miracles repairing certain tissue, but growing a whole new organ? We aren't there (yet!)
Precious baby. I had one a few years ago that was born with kidney issues. She lived a happy 4 years! Bless you for taking him in. He's a lucky baby to have found you.
