- The NSX is back on the SP Engineering Dyno with a new Garrett G30-770. We were hoping to get the turbo on last season, but other issues diverted our attention. We were finally able to get the car back to Riley Stair at RS Motorsport to get the turbo and exhaust setup fabricated. His work was the typical art that we've come to expect from Riley, and he knocked it out in only a couple days. He modified the exhaust manifold, made a new charge pipe, and fabricated a titanium exhaust and dump pipe using Vibrant Performance components.
We wrapped up a couple things on the car and then headed to SP Engineering with the NSX to get it on the dyno and retuned for the new setup. We were expecting more power with the G30-770 due to the size of the turbo and saw that gain. The big surprise was how responsive the turbo is. Despite the turbo being capable of 150+ whp more than our old turbo, the response was still excellent. We weren't able to get a solid power figure due to wheel spin, but will be going back soon with a different turbine housing and some wide slicks to put the power down. Now we're headed to Buttonwillow with SoCal Drivers Club to test the new setup and make sure we are good to go for Super Lap Battle.
coming back to this after hearing and seeing the car at COTA, can’t get over that turbo sound
Thanks man!
Props on the welds for taking a beating 🙌🤣 that's a badass setup! All I can think of is the potential! Keep us updated🙏👌
Riley’s work is unreal. This car puts all the parts through hell. I’m glad he’s so good at what he does 😂
Can’t wait to see the nsx on track
Awesome video man! Some insane numbers and cool to see the differences with the new turbo
Thank you! Now for more boost and power! Haha
Great work as always 👍🏻
Thank you! 🙏🏼
Great job guys!
Thanks!
That chase for that PB
Insane
I have smaller g25 660 in my k24, i have almost ZERO lag, garrett g series are phenomenal.
That is awesome to hear! The G series of turbos are very impressive. What ar are you running?
@@RSFuture k24a2 with e50 555 hp and 480 tq
@@roda1999 any issues with wheel spin? What chassis?
@@RSFuture are you running race gas or e85?
@@cuhsp373 Civic eg. Well you can't barely use wot in first and second, but 3456 is okay. I love my Garrett
Excited to see this at full tilt at COTA
Does that mean we’ll be seeing you there?!
@@RSFuture Yes sir! will be there with the Thunderhill car for some laps!
As an aerospace engineer I can safely say titanium does not crack easily hence why majority of airplane components are made with it. Only reason why titanium cracks is because all of the gimmicky ways the aftermarket parts are welded and overhead to achieve the bluish purple look. Other then that it has a very high tensile strength than most metals.
It's not ideally suited to high heat environments
What were the final numbers? From what I see on the chart, the blue and red lines are your previous turbo and the green is the new g-series?
I wonder how it will behave with a 1.21 ar? And see what benefits are achieved.
Which RPM turbo start give pressure?
Which RPM already start full boost?
Many thanks

Best Regards
I also had an EFR 7163 on my Lancer Evolution VII and now I switched to a Garrett G30-770 but I haven't tested it yet. How much more power did you get from replacing the turbo?
We picked up 100whp with less boost. We think we can get 175whp more than the 7163 with almost no change in response.
That turbo is mounted low. Are you using a pump to get oil to return?
what Housing are u running?.82AR
I think the smaller AR will do alot worse all around since the K-series like a big AR turbine housing.
Do a lot worse in regards to power? We’re good liking to give up some power to get improved response
@@RSFutureto confirm going bigger A/R resulted in better response?
What AR is this?
Is this nsx awd??
It is rwd, but the dyno spins all of the rollers
How are you able to have a turbo and still be street class
The rules allow us to run a turbo in street class
