    I really hate it when people compare Taylor Swift to singers like Ariana and demi ....We need to know and understand that every singer has different kind of voice...Ariana has super shrill and high pitched voice...Demi has a very strong and bold voice...But Tay has a "beautiful" voice...
    Can u imagine demi singing Wildest Dreams,Delicate??
    And another thing...If a singer sings very high pitched song it doesn't mean she is a great singer...Just by having high scaled notes u can't be a great singer

    • @Lilith816
      @Lilith816 6 лет назад +19

      TheTardisDreamer Most pop singers are soprano 😂 it's the most common female voice, and alto isn't a singing type it's a choral part,and even if that contraltos are rare too

    • @TheTardisDreamer
      @TheTardisDreamer 6 лет назад +29

      @@Lilith816 Most pop singers then are mezzo sopranos. They do NOT have high voices and neither are their songs high. It just isn't valued in that style of music. I'm a soprano myself and I've always struggled to find pop songs that aren't too low for me, whereas classical stuff is always perfect because it's a lot higher. Pop music suits the belting range so of course it isn't going to be up there with operatic music.

    • @Lilith816
      @Lilith816 6 лет назад +5

      TheTardisDreamer But when talking about classifying voice types, range isn't the only thing that classifies your voice type, it's your timbre, where you're most comfortable singing, etc, but mezzo sopranos can still go high enough considering they are still a "soprano" but just in the middle of contralto and soprano.

    I think the main reason why people hate such an angel like Tay is because how wrongly the media portrayed her. She’s known for her multiple boyfriends, and there’s no denying in that, but that doesn’t give anyone a reason to hate her. “She’s dramatic, she wrote songs about boyfriends” So??? Many male singers do that, but never got any backlash, but when female singers do that, especially Tay, people made it look like she committed a crime! Remember that she was a t e e n a g e r when she first started in the music industry. When you’re a teen, you will fall in love or lust with someone as quickly as you’ll forget them.
    I bet a lot of you had watch the ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ music video. In the end, she made fun of herself with hurtful words that the media had said to her since she was a child. For approximately 10 years, she had dealt with those strongly, but a slip up (the Kim K thing) made her crumble. But no, she didn’t let herself to rot and die, she kept her heads high and continue to make her next album, reputation. She uploaded the mv, and got backlash for getting back up her feet while dissing some people that made her to the way she is now.
    It seemed like the media just needs a person to bully all the time, and that is Taylor Swift. No matter how much she send gifts and throw parties to her fans or donating to charity, she will always be portrayed as the bad girl. She is a victim. When Zayn (I think) and Camilla was out of their groups, some people blame Taylor for it, you wanna know why? Because Taylor hang out with them. Yeah, blame Taylor on earth quakes too next time.

    Most of these massively successfully artists can generally sing. I think the critiqe is that people feel that artists with that type of success would have inhuman vocal capabilities, which brings us to the reality. A thriving world wide career is not so much about the voice, especially in todays music. I'd argue save for Kelly Clarkson, Arianna, Beyonce, Sam Smith, GaGa. The more incredible an artists voice is, the more they will struggle to have a career in the current market. I also think singer/songwriters definitely have a massive edge on the competition. That's another huge reason behind Swifts success.

    • @tristanparedes
      @tristanparedes  6 лет назад +40

      I understand that... but the same is true of most celebrities & athletes. There are very few people, if any, in the world that "deserve" millions and millions of dollars IMO. So I think fixating on how successful someone is or isn't and comparing to someone else... I don't think that makes very much sense.
      Taylor is successful - that's fine. Her popularity doesn't make me like her or dislike her. She has a decent voice and puts out some music I like; I just don't worry about it much deeper then that.

    One of the reasons people say she can't sing live, besides that it is trendy to hate on her, is some of her old performances. She had a weaker voice that was sometimes flat when she was young and performed on award shows. There was also a whole thing trying to take her down where someone isolated her vocals during a performance of Shake It Off. They were bad, but that was because she was literally running and dancing the entire performance. I'd like to see any other singer who people consider better than her sing Shake It Off while doing the same routine as her. I bet if you isolate their vocals, they'd sound bad as well. I still enjoy old performances, as it proves how far she's come. Her nerves used to get the better of her on big award shows when she was younger, but even then, on tour was where she really shown. She's always been amazing on tour. Also, people like to compare her to vocalists who have big voices like Ariana or Adele, when they don't even have the same styles. If anything, I feel it's more impressive that Taylor Swift doesn't have a huge vocal range compared to those she is compared to, but can still do interesting and amazing things with her voice. I agree she has one of the most unique voices. No one I've ever heard has the same tone as her. She's a songwriter first and foremost, but her voice is good as well.

    I think that part of the reason so many people (my past self included) think that Taylor is a mediocre singer is just bc it’s hard to shake the original impression of what she was like when she first became famous as a teenager. She had some bops, but her voice was definitely a lot weaker then, and even though she’s almost 30 now with a better, stronger, more mature voice, it’s hard to override our initial judgements, especially if you haven’t been following her closely and never get to hear any of her live vocals (only get to hear the big hits, which are catchy, but simple and don’t really show off her voice).

      Sprinkles R He has, as in Tristan has checked out Brendon Urie's Pop Crush compilation -- true. I merely suggested the Ellen performance to show Brendon's version of dancing...ultimately Tristan's choice.
      He has, as in Brendon has mentioned Taylor -- yes. On periscope/instagram...I wouldn't be able to provide you with links, sorry. However, I remember someone asking him, 'You're a legit fan of Taylor, you're not being sarcastic' (paraphrased), and he responded with 'Of course I am; if you're not, you're a dum-dum'.
      I also recall him and his wife singing along to Taylor Swift in the car, at least twice.

    I think one reason why people don't really know Taylor can sing such high notes/sing so well is that she doesn't really sing that well in her studio recordings. Most of her best performances are in single live performances. So the general public isn't exposed to these clips.

    • @camryn5709

      What's the difference between Nemo and Loki? Nemo's father went looking for him. I think it’s not even the studio recordings. It’s the specific songs that are ‘catchy’ enough for the radio. She has amazing songs on all of her albums that most people who don’t buy the album will never hear. It’s so sad. Example: All Too Well, Wonderland, You Are In Love, I Did Something Bad, and honestly most of the reputation album.

    I think people don’t know how to accept that people do genuinely change. In the verrry beginning T-Swift had weaker vocals, her range wasn’t as broad as it is now, she frequently was off pitch when live, and she struggled with her breathing.
    However, after working her behind off and learning how to balance and extend her voice, the woman can singggg. I wasn’t a fan in the beginning, but watching how she’s grown and come into her own has been incredible.

    Tristan are you aware of her singing 'See you again' live ??
    That shows some of the best live vocals from Tay! Also she did sing 'Doubt' live with Mary J Blije could you check that out to?
    And the 'All too well' Grammy performance where she just makes everybody cry with her and a piano and few supporting instruments.
    I've been following her since I was 9! Every song and their live concert footages...let's say im a fan. Its been almost 10 yrs of knowing her style and music and importantly her range. Its after she transitioned from country to pop was when she predominantly and abashedly loosened up to reach those high notes all without going off tune. She wasn't that confident before that or wasnt 'suitable' for her to sing. But with 1989, my god she brought in so many high notes in almost all of her songs and songs that were...'high' to sing, knowing her range. I wondered how she'd reach for those notes live because we're not used to her going for the pitches that much live! But when she did my god. The stability and consistency in her live performances has improved so fucking much! And it seems so effortless and crisp. You can see that all those clips from her best vocals are from her 1989 world tour and not much is memorable to us from her old tours compared to this one in terms of her singing and jesus on a tricycle I'm so proud of her and literally love her to death.

      I think you said it perfectly. I was trying to figure out how I feel about Taylor Swift and this hit the nail on the head. I can appreciate that she has a good voice, but she always sounds out of breath, choppy, and her voice is unrelaiable. I never know if one minute it's going to sound good or if it's going to sound like nails on a chalkboard. I think she has a good voice, but overall as an artist I think she is mediocre.

      +Kelsie Fresquez I respect your opinion, but I think your misunderstanding the word mediocre because for me, writing a whole album by yourself at the age of 19 isn't mediocre. I think what's mediocre is that singers who doesn't write and produce their own songs, because there are so many of them out there. do I think your opinion is wrong? NO, but do I agree with your opinion? no also.
