They totally renovated this section of the airport, and I somehow didn’t realize this until I flew into SEA on Alaska a few months ago! It did have some retro touches which I miss very much, but I like that even though this is a brand new concourse, they didn’t settle for a cold, bland “modern” hospital-like design like so many other places are doing, and I congratulate them for that. My first thought was “wow, this is nice and very well done,” where usually in a brand new building my first thought is, “wow, this is cold, sterile, and uninviting.” From what I’ve seen on videos, the big new international sky bridge and customs terminal just feels like a backwards evolution in terms of design, completely void of color or personality: it feels cheap in comparison. The wood finish and continued use of red/yellow signage really completes this renovation for me.
