  • Building jumps that appeal to a wide range of riders seemed pretty appealing.. but with the weather not cooperating.. and my limited time on an excavator... will these jumps even work properly?

    I suggest 'Ewe Can Do It" a homage to the drop you built back in Canada, or 'Ewe Thanasia, or 'Ewe Neek'. The Forest of Dean in the UK has DH tracks called 'Sheep Skull' & 'Cork Screw" already, just in case you wanted to be original.

    Interesting to see this design regarded as “not often seen” and “nobody builds jumps like this.” Because surprisingly… about 90% of the jumps in my local area are built like this.
    More interestingly, World Trail was the company that started to use this design more and they are Australian based. It’s not just my local area, but pretty much all Australian jumps are designed like this too. It’s interesting to see how it is an Australian thing and how it’s all over Australia but not really anywhere else because it’s our design and it’s in our country… interesting.

    Hey Eric, just wondering about the long and low. Why didn't you just increase the size of the lip, and have a longer constant grade landing? As for the name of the trail. There was a football club in Edinburgh, Scotland, called Meadowbank Thistle. They never had a large following, but I'm sure they would be happy with that name.

    Hey BCpov, little bit of constructive criticism: The rollers on your trail are WAY too steep and instead of being able to pump them and gain speed you are going too fast into them and loosing speed. I think this might be really helpful to speed up some sections of the trail and help you clear the quarks better. Generally a roller at the speeds you are going should be about 4 to 5 meters long, and you will gain SO much speed! love the videos and keep it up

    • @BCpov
      @BCpov  6 месяцев назад +2

      Yup, you're right. When you build at this scale with little guidance you end up building it and then realizing you've gotten it wrong.
      I was airing off the roller after the tree jump (previous video) and actually turned it into a small small table so you could pump the backside. It was too much to mention in this video. The S berms after that also had a roller at the exit which got mellowed as well.
      The roller before the first quark has the same problem, it's fun, but I was squashing it and still getting air. It got trimmed a little, but could have gotten a bit more.
      The one after the switchback might be okay, the trail never rolled fast enough there before i left to know if it was okay.
      Definitely learned a lot on this build!
      Do you cut trail professionally?

    • @zachc3486
      @zachc3486 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@BCpov No I do not cut trail professionally however I have built many long flow trails with friends and one thing we always seemed to get wrong was achieving proper trail speed.
      The fix was always the rollers, even if you weren't catching air on them, you weren't able to pump them properly, so you ended up losing speed.
      Thanks for replying and hopefully with a little tweaking your trail will ride better than ever!
