The one with Lake Superior really sticks with me. When I was younger, my dad had a mix tape of songs that he would play in the car. I was captivated by one in particular: 'The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald' by Gordon Lightfoot. It tells the story of a Great Lakes freighter that sank during a shipmemt of iron ore out of Wisconsin. They were about 15 miles away from Whitefish Bay when the harsh waves hit them. 29 died in the wreck on that November 10th. That struck a huge chord with me as November 10th is my birthday. It's a stretch to think that it'a an actual ghostly ship in the video, let alone the apparition of the Edmund Fitzgerald, but it's a fascinating thought.
Aye, the Edmund Fitzgerald's length ultimately lead to it's demise, because of the length of the vessel and the short gap between the waves, the Fitz snapped in half, she was lost with all hands that day.
I find it absolutely amazing how somebody is *stupid enough to believe this* just because they saw a YT video. I'm not sure what world you live in but in the real world there are strict environmental laws, shipping regulations and maritime laws which makes what you say a CRIME. Most ships who can't be salvaged are either beached or scrapped. What kind of a chimp believes they're just abandoned to drift??
Personal story of mine: on the last day of a vacation, I saw a boat almost sank. It was tied to the dock, so it was still visible in most places. It was all rusty and looked abandoned though. It looked a bit like a tugboat and a fishing boat at the same time. It was down in Ocean city, Maryland for reference
“USS Or-risk-aw-nee” is actually pronounced “USS Uh-risk-an-ee” - fun fact: This is the ship John McCain launched from prior to getting shot down in Vietnam. I was in Pensacola when this ship was sunk. I have a picture of me in front of this ship just prior to the scuttle event in May 2006.

The Mary Celeste mystery, least as far as why it was abandoned, has primarily been solved. See the hold was full of alcohol in barrels.. well.. when one of those barrels leaks, it fills that hold with vapors which can very easily be ignited. MY belief is, the captain and crew found a leaking barrel and strong vapors in a locked down Hold and decided to abandon ship and leave holds hatches open so it could air out. They tied a line to the ship and used a smaller boat , a skiff perhaps , to tow behind the Mary Celeste for a few hours while it aired out. An inconvenience, sure.. BUT it would adhere to safety protocols and it would've been responsible captaincy. However.. I think bad weather intervened or perhaps the tow line simply broke and they couldn't catch up to it.. but both scenarios are more plausible than any concocted theory so far.
