Thanks for sharing. Landlocked sailor in conifer. Will be looking for a small boat this spring. A friend out west told me that he has a force 5. I think I might get it and have some fun.
@@RonaldHawes-sr3cr Nice! I’ve got a good friend up that way…former A-10 Warthog driver. Love nearby Staunton State Park as well! Where do you plan to sail?
@@mjanulis3603 You must have missed my video 2 weeks ago: “Epic Small Boat Sailing” ruclips.net/video/H04ppeXBPlI/видео.htmlsi=uDemhTSAQMGC2w5l because that’s exactly what I do!! 😁 Heavy weather gybe is at 6:14. Happy sailing!
@@squallyheiferadventures At my lake it’s almost a daily thing all summer long. Afternoon squalls come out of the mountains and run down the lake for 30-45 minutes each day. After about 2pm my head is always on a swivel looking for the signs. Morning sailing is usually light, consistent winds. Followed by mind-numbing doldrums from noon until 2pm. But I savor every moment on the water!!
When you bring down your main do you use your motor to bring the bow into the wind and then release the main halyard? Without a motor do you let out the mainsheet to unpower the main then use your hands to pull the mainsail down? I have an O'Day 25 and have never sailed solo before. I guess I start out with just the main only to keep it simple.
@@powellkwd40 I sail on a beam reach with just the headsail, sheet out the boom to take the pressure off and lower (or raise) the sail. No motor required! Here’s a video where you can watch me do it: ruclips.net/video/k3l7Pvw7Hkg/видео.htmlsi=GGfQiqrxf5xRklsU
@@huntsail3727 I don’t have a specific video on that, but it’s just a thin bungee cord from Ace Hardware tied to the stern pulpit rails on each side. When I need it…I just grab it and give it one wrap around the tiller. It keeps it wherever I put it.
Enjoyed this, great job!
Many thanks! It was a great day of sailing! ⛵️

Do you have a video describing the system you are using to keep your tiller steady as you go forward to adjust or lower sails?
