- Israel said on Tuesday (May 7) its objective remains to destroy the Islamist Palestinian group Hamas, as its negotiators were set to leave for ceasefire talks in the Egyptian capital Cairo.
International organizations were "encouraged" to evacuate Rafah before Israel began its operation in the eastern part of the city, said Israeli government spokesperson David Mencer.

The Jewish people have a right to live in freedom in the land they own and no group with Islamic affilliations should keep up the pretence that they own Israel and that they will govern peacefully in the territory Israel has fought for years to be able to live in and develop their traditional values.
Islamic nations should honour that right under their often quoted message of being a peaceful religion.
