When she left her old company, I was afraid that she'd lose some of her sonority. Instead, she introduced us to something EVEN more Yukika. This beautiful sound is more mature and engaging than any song she has ever released. Yukika is one of the best soloists in the South Korean market and I'd LOVE this to be common sense. Please, Korea, let's appreciate our city pop queen! PS: her company released the mv before the right time... please, pay attention in the next time :)
This new Kika song leans more towards K-indie than City Pop, but K-indie has so much City Pop influence that it's hard to draw the line in some songs at where one begins and the other ends. I think generally speaking, a lot of K-indie songs with City Pop influences are basically modern takes on the City Pop vibe, and that's the case here.
well as far as I know.. "indie" is how artist produce and distribute their music independently. you can sing funk music or metal music or folk music, and labeled as indie artist (or k-indie if you were korean) if you are not in major label company.

Most of those artists in your playlist are either mainstream (TWICE, Yukika, Daybreak) or are affiliated w the r&b/hiphop scene (Sumin, George, Hoody, Stella Jang, Saetbyeol). Bands that would be considered Indie (genre) in Korea would be Crying Nut, Jaurim, 10CM, Cherry Filter, ChangKiha&Faces and largely converge around Hondgae and other smaller uni areas.
Yukika is still my favorite soloist despite her being the first k-pop artist i ever listened to. Something is just so beautiful and mesmerizing about her music. Shes one of the few people who really do suit the retro trend very well. And i hope she gets so much more in the future.

Fr 😭 I liked j city pop in 2019 until it got super repetitive by locals in 2020 lockdown i just stopped hearing it and just like to two songs when I used to hear many but they all go so popular so it annoyed me. I wish yukika stayed singing and did a tour but she didn’t :,)

GUYS THERE DEFININTELY LORE IN THE MV!!! I'm trying to piece together a theory but all I can remember is that Yukika can time travel. Things that stand out to me in the video are the colors blue and yellow, the other girl besides Yukika, and the clocks that we see throughout the video. There's also the water imagery to look out for. What I'm wondering is if Yukika has the ability to stop time. I ask this because in one of the yellow parts of the video yukika says "I'm passing through this night that seems endless". The colors of yellow and blue are very very important in Soul Lady Mv as Well. As we typically see yukika with yellow behind her and blue in front of her (color wise). However at one point shes moving forward in a car with yellow in front of her and blue behind her, she talks about reminiscing and we see a scene from neon. Now what this tells me is that it's been a while since she's come into the future cause she's reminiscing about traveling to modern times. and since shes moving forward with yellow in front I think yellow symbolizes the future and blue symbolizes the past. (throughout the video we see these projections of her wearing more retro clothes and at the end we see physical her sitting next to the projection of her so I think we can assume yukika is in the present?) I think soul lady is about yukika time traveling into the future, she used to be a city pop singer in the 80's but time travels to the future and becomes a kpop singer, which is why the song is called soul lady. Anyways so i think soul lady established color association with time maybe? If that's true then moments where we see yellow or blue in this mv would represent the future and past accordingly. Now in insomnia we see that she gets a stop-watch of sorts, I think this gives her the ability to time travel on her own (she time travels in neon with the assistance of the guy in the video). I'm not entirely sure of what happens in Insomnia MV but I think she is traveling between the past and present, and I think she travels back in time to perform a song, then brings a girl from the past with her to the future/present ? At the end of the MV we see the girl looking in the mirror and seeing yukika but I'm not sure what this means, anyways there's definitely a deeper story here so please analyze guys!!
