    Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” and taking more trips together and finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and travel hacking over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left January 10, 2016. We started this RUclips channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling. So we extended our 1 year trip to THREE years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before Nate turns 30 (which is March 20, 2019)! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

      Biswajit sahoo this celebration is not some general event. It is a very famous event n has high religious significance to it. Hindus from all over the world gather there to celebrate holi with lord krishna. Only problem is the pushing n jostling because of crowd as everyone wants to reach the main sanctum sanctorum where real puja is being conducted, before they are directed to move out by administrators. If someone even dares to act foolish or something, locals will thrash him up.Did u notice, how the local guys formed a chain around them to protect from extreme pushing force to prevent falling.

    Forget about foreigners, even we as Indians mostly avoid such chaotic places especially during holi.
    There are many ways in which Holi is celebrated. Nowadays it is mostly private parties where only a certain amount of people are invited/allowed, and they sing, dance, throw colours and enjoy among themselves. Or you celebrate just with your families and friends and relatives inside your houses.
    But Vrindavan is a very old city and hence the celebration is more like an old-school type. Culturally this is how Holi is celebrated, but some hundreds of years ago, there weren't so many people, and hence this way of celebration was great. Imagine only 50 people in that temple, wouldn't everyone have a great time.
    Regarding selfies- In smaller cities, not many foreigners travel and when locals see them, they are very excited and hence they take selfies, more like souveneirs. It is just like we take selfies when we spot a celebrity, or when we visit a wonderful landscape. Now sometimes, while doing this, they do not realise that it might be uncomfortable for the tourists but their intention is never bad.
    Having said that, some rogue elements use this as an opportunity to touch women inappropriately. Hence you are advised to be careful. Bad people exists everywhere.
    Very few bothers for a selfie in bigger cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore etc.

      Anomalous Chloe they took a very risky decision by going there. As u can see in the comments not even a lot of Indians dare to go there. This celebration is special because this place is where holi originated n it is still celebreated in the same centuries old traditional way with the magnificent puja ceremonies n all. It has great religious significance for hindus around the world n this event is telecast live on tv. One needs to be experienced to handle such places. I feel they made a wrong choice which was not needed. This event is for devotees n they r experienced in visiting such places n go there because of faith n to witness the spiritual moments there. There r lot of holi events arranged in clubs, lawns, n hotels where fun n frolic is the main focus. That would be better choice for most ppl. I feel the tourists should be banned from this event n only devotees should be allowed who understand the true essence of the event. It would benefit both.

    Guys , I'm Indian but I would never ever recommend celebrating Holi with strange Indian guys ,it can quickly become really uncomfortable.Even we don't do that ,we stay inside our houses because there are lot of pervy guys out there who will harass you in the name of Holi .

  • @FinnstersMom2007
    @FinnstersMom2007 6 лет назад +13

    nope. nope. nope. I'm surprised you did this - as a foreigner and as a women - the potential for danger, groping, and very bad things was SO high. This isn't a comment on India; I'd say this about any amped-up, riotous crowd like this in any city, state or nation. Sure, the potential for views is high, but you have to start taking your own safety more into consideration. You were separated a few times, what if you got so separated from each other you lost each other - or Kara was put in severe danger? Americans going into chaos with high-value equipment could end badly. But on another note; what exactly were you celebrating? What is Holi? Explaining/understanding what your celebrating seems more authentic than just creating click bait. I love your vids, but this India series is very concerning.

      That's not a scam. I have lived in a city nearby and I know monkeys do this all the time. They steal your things and will return it to you, if you throw them something to eat. That guy is a local and he knows it. You can say that the Monkey scammed him, at best. The guy actually helped him only to be called a scammer. Seriously, Indians should just let foreigners be. No need to help or be extra kind.

Holi is meant to be celebrated with family and closed friends, maybe a house party with a few beers and for foreigner best way is stay in cities and celebrate holi in communities and groups which you will find. I still dont understand why she went all the way to vrindhan to celebrate holi? She visiited old delhi which is like 10 percent of delhi, she skipped new delhi, which has the maximum tourist attraction, and than she went to mathura and vrindhawan its so random lol
