I’ve had a few Datsuns over the years, always fun little cars. Had a Datsun wagon in HS, a 710 on the way to a party one night we had 13 people crammed in it.
These were pretty popular in SCCA road racing back in the late 70's/ early 80's when the DATSUN 510 was getting a little old. With flares, spoilers and big rubber they were cool looking little race cars and pretty competitive.
Who cares who likes it or not? If you don't like it, don't watch it. I agree with you - I really like it. Very unusual, and fun to see one after many years. I never thought about it, but it does have some resemblance to the Citroen SM in the rear quarters. I really like that you cover the unusual and foreign cars. This one was really cool. A real shame it's in the yard, but it is very rusty unfortunately.
I learned to drive in the 5 speed version many years ago. One of my friends helped me when we were in the Air Force at Beale AFB in Northern California. What a gun car to drive!
They may have been fugly, but they were very reliable and dependable fun little cars that deserved more love then they got. I'll take a '79 Datsun over a new Nissan any day.
Two of my friends back in the 70's had these Datsuns . They really liked them and as with most Datsuns back then very reliable. I don't believe these were bottom of the barrel cars, probably not far from though. I think the later versions were more squared off looking.
HEY BENNY ,, THESE CARS WERE GREAT TO SEE AND DRIVE IN THOSE DAYS,, A LITTLE HOT ROD!!! GLAD YA!! HAVE SOME MONEY $$$ FOR A BEER OR ICE CREAM CONE.. HA!! YA!! ALL THESE SMALLER PARTS JUST PUT THEM IN YOUR PANTS POCKET OR UNDERROOS BUT WALK OUT STRAIGHT DONT LET THEM FALL OUT ,,.. THERE JUST GOING TO BE CRUSHED ,,.. PEACE!!!
Whoa Nelley, 1979 and out of time. Not a fan, but yes, pretty unique. We got the VIN, we win: H for 2.0L four-cylinder model L20B engine, L for left hand drive, S10 is the model (200SX) and the rest is the production sequence. These were assembled at the Zama plant in Japan. It was called the Nissan Silvia in Japan and other markets. Yes, first generation was produced from 1975 to 1979, with exports to the USA starting in around 1976. No tag, can't brag, but this is possibly code 650 Grapefruit exterior paint. That's a lot of money in Nissan parts---they were never cheap, especially as the vehicle got older. Whoa Nelley, 200SX is a big mess. L20B and it's over for thee. That's it, time to quit. Five speed is in great need. "Where does the answer lie? Live from day to day" (Spirits in the Material World/Ghost in the Machine/Police/1981) and this one is soon to go away. Parts made in Japan and ready for the trash can. Paint code 650 and gotta go. Going to be flat and that's that. Nissan was Datsun and this one made its last run. Going to get squished, and not really anyone, but apparently Benny is among the sole person who would be even remotely pissed........
Called the Atomic Cockroach by the motoring press back in the day.I am in the It's Ugly section.I think it is those upswept quarter windows that makes me nauseous but I haven't felt well all day.Give me a 2nd gen preferably an 81 Notchback in 2 tone copper and brown with the SL pkg and alloy wheels in a 5 speed. Thanks for the memories now time to go puke.Happy Easter Benny.
Hay hay hay it's a DiyhotSue man them things were not too bad looking back then Ah not..haaa I do like the slanted glass tho and them engines last run good too I've heard..
I owned a 1980 Datsun 510 that had this same motor in it was a good car and a four-speed had a most unique dash. Headlights, tail light out, and various other things that would have been considered high-tech back in the day the Japanese really put a lot of little gimmicks in their car back then.
These cars have interested me from the first time I saw one. They've most certainly got there own thing goin on but I kinda dig it. I would totally get into one if I could for half way cheap but it seems like they're geting harder to find nowadays. Those are my thoughts.
12:51 If that change could be from 1998 when last registered, need to check those qtrs & dimes to c if dated b4 1964 - worth more; aka junk, 90% or constitutional silver
@@althunder4269 Both were pieces of crap. Anyone that says a 1979 Pinto is a "great car" or "better" than anything needs their head examined. They were complete junk. You were better off with a Huffy or a Schwinn. LOL.

I haven't seen one of those in years benny..good video bro. You are the best 👌 👍.
I remember These they were different looking. In the early 80's they got square like a lot of cars did. Pretty cool. Thanks for posting Benny.
Always liked this version of the 200SX. They came in some cool colors and I also liked the interiors. Good, solid car it it's day! Nice video!

The rust ate them (and many other Japanese vehicles of this era) alive and that's what did most of them in.
I like that 200SX Benny. it reminds me a little of the 69 TORINO GT Fastback 👍
I had a’79 but it spent it’s life in the Chicago area so it was a lot more rusty than that one. I agree I also liked the dash.

I can without hesitation tell you a Pinto was a POS compared to this Datsun.
