Ahe' hee for your inspiring words for brave women like Rose. Looking back into intense moments like hers isn't easy but her resilience is something we can all learn from while we move forward.
@@Spagoshi So agree. She is a historic living testimony of the machinations of what the “world” tries to construct/destruct. We must no longer be at or in the front line of defense. Our gifts go higher!
Seem like all the popular new movies and series are about war, guns, fighting, and blood. Rose makes one take pause about this after being in the midst of the real thing and telling us that she does not watch war movies for "fun". So you'd think with all the mass shootings, "Hollywood" would have a concience about this, but I guess not. As long as people will go see these things, they will continue to make them. I was USN for 4 years from 1970 to 1974 and count myself lucky I went to the East coast and the Meditteranean and not to Viet Nam. My next door neighbor is an OR nurse like Rose, but she never talks about what she does. I like when Rose talks about the "old ways". It sounds like a true path in search of the real great spirit. This cannot be found in a church. Cheers to Rose and her 45 years with her soul mate. (47 here with mine......). Thanks for sharing Rose with us Nick. There are many kinds of bravery in the world. She has to be brave just to live in her memories of what happened to her. I suppose it never really goes away but most us will never experience this. We are luckier than we know.
The 1960's and early 70's were an extradentary and turbulent times to have live through, sadly, our retuning Vietnam Vets took the blunt of the anger felt by a good number of folks back here in America over the handling of our Vietnam policy by our polycations and government officials at the time. The Vietnam conflict divided this country (America) over what is patriotism family were broken up over what is patriotism. Vietnam conflict not only brought bloodshed in Southeast Asia it brought bloodshed back here in the street of America. I know the Vietnam conflict to this day is an open wound to our Vietnam Veterans the men and women who served our country and to their families. To our Vietnam Vets the men and women who served our country during the Vietnam conflict thank you for your service and sacrifice and welcome home. Rest in Peace to the 58,220 Vietnams Vets who were KIA during the Vietnam conflict and the countless Vietnam Vets who have died from Agent Orange or (PTSD) and to those who are listed as MIA unaccounted for and those who are still fighting that War in flashbacks and in nightmares, I pray for the day that you'll find Peace. 🙏
Did you serve in Vietnam? Ahe' hee for sharing that piece of history that we should continue to learn from. I grew up on Rambo films, but as I got older I understood the true intent behind the script. Of ours there is Hamburger Hill, Platoon and We Were Soldiers which I loved as well.

To our Vietnam Vets nurses I dedicate this song from
SSgt Barry Sadler 1966 record album "Ballad of the Green Beret."
to you who server our county during the Vietnam conflict
thanks, you for your service and sacrifice, and welcome home,
"Salute to the Nurses"
SSgt Barry Sadler
After the battle after the fight
many owe their lives to the ladies and men in white
And all of the men in this war torn land
salute the nurses of Vietnam
They know the awful toll of war each day
they know more than any the price we pay
A soldier his hands too burned to write
a nurse takes down his words through the lonely night
They have gone to the front where men fought
in the night from Pleiku to Qui Nhon
where war these men fight
Many a wounded soldier pain is eased for a while
by opening his eyes to see a nurses smile
To each of the wounded on the operating shelf
these nurses give a part of themselves
I know every soldier to the last man will
sometimes say a prayer for the nurses of Vietnam
After the battle after the fight
many owe their lives to the ladies and men in white
And all of the men in this war torn land
salute the nurses of Vietnam
That's a classic song. Simple music from simpler times. Ahe' hee for sharing!
