I stopped tamoxifen after six months, because the joint pain was unbearable and I gained weight. I just read a book by an MD called Oestragen Matters. Apparently there have been about 14 studies over the last 25 years or so that argue that estrogen may actually prevent breast cancer from occurring or from returning if your cancer was a low-grade cancer. It has really helped get rid of the brain fog and I have lost a few pounds and also have more energy. In this book, they discuss how much more likely women are to die of heart, disease, hip fractures, and develop dementia without estrogen. Anyway, I thought I would just share the information about the book.

Your honesty is refreshing and much needed. Thank you for being brave. After my hysterectomy I was worried about physical intimacy with my husband, but he was loving, patient and supportive. Our sexual bond is extremely important to me (and him) and has honestly never been stronger. We met in our early 20's and are in our late 50's now. I had to start using estrodial cream after I reached my 60's, because I was unable to have relations, due to vaginal atrophy. I was devastated until I discovered that the hormone cream would help me. It truly gave me my life back. Thank you, for sharing your progress with us! You look beautiful, so keep doing what your doing! ♥
Estrodiol is a very small dose to be honest many people use it on their face it's nothing like HRT you patch or take orally meaning estrodiol isnt systemic

First, you can get thru this! I was on Tamoxifen for five years - premenopause. I completed my five years last February. I can tell you there ARE changes…sleeping is different. I would wake up every 2-3 hours. Weight gain around my waist…. Fatigue. A lot of changes. But guess what? I’m a SURVIVOR! You will be too! These changes are a small price to pay to “stay in the game”. The five years went by quickly and after you finish the therapy things start to go back to normal. Im sleeping well…active…and with intermittent fasting and elimination of sugars and most carbs the tire round my waist is shrinking. You GOT THIS!
Thank you so much for sharing Melissa. You’re classy and very beautiful. Everything you said was in good taste. Relatable, and understandable. Thank you so much, we all need to hear it from real women. God bless and stay healthy! 🥰
Melissa, I have such admiration for you. Thank you for overcoming your hesitation and discomfort. Somehow, hearing all this from someone who is so easy to relate to and who we’ve been following for all kinds of reasons makes this that much more relatable and comforting. And every bit of it touched on things we all worry about or have to deal with. I can’t thank you enough. Rock star!
Oh Julie, I'm going to cry. Thank you. I wish I was a person that could talk about issues easier, but I just get embarrassed. I don't know why. I'm not a prude. But I appreciate so much you saying this. Much love and thanks.
Melissa , I’ve had the same surgery, got off hormone medicine, thin hair, etc. I didn’t have reconstruction surgery. I still feel uncomfortable talking to people about my breast cancer. Thank you for sharing personal feelings . You’re a sweetheart. Love from Mississippi 💖🙏🏻
I had a hysterectomy in 2010. My Dr placed me on Vivelle Dot .375. I used these patches for 14 years!!!! I finally asked my dr in January 2024 if it was safe to continue. I was told, well we can lower and see how you feel. The dosage was cut on half and it took me about 2 weeks to adjust. I'm considering stopping. Ladies, we have to question drs and take care of ourselves. Melissa you are so inspiring.
Amazing how brave you are! You spoke about things I’m sure a lot of us were hoping you would address! You said you’re stubborn and I think that’s a God given trait for you! Glad you were stubborn enough to speak about things you were uncomfortable about but you knew we ladies wanted to know! Thanks!
Hi Melissa. Don't feel embarrassed or uncomfortable. What you went through is traumatic and your personal journey. It is so kind of you to share your experience especially with other people that might be navigating the same circumstances. It is nice to see your spirits are high. You are a strong woman and you are very blessed to have such a loving husband.
I had breast cancer, a double mastectomy and hysterectomy at the age of thirty. My hair never fully recovered after chemo. I’ve always hated my thin hair. I’m now 58. I’ve been on hrt for about ten years because my cancer was not hormonally driven and I haven’t had breasts for almost 30 years. I recently started a prescription for Minoxidil pills and it’s really helped. It may help to consider this for the thinning hair issues if your doctor approves.
Melissa, you did a great job explaining everything. Im sure your video will help so many women. I’ve been on HRT since my early 50’s. I’m almost 71. I have fears, too about stopping them at some point. Thank you for sharing your experiences. You are so beautiful inside and out! Sending love from Florida! ❤ Janis
Melissa…you are a warrior. I agree with you…communication is the key in a relationship. Doug is such a wonderful husband, and I am so happy he has been there for you through all of this. Thank you for this video. Love you!❤️❤️
I'm so glad to see you doing well Melissa. You look beautiful and glowing. You're so brave for all that you've been through and being so optimistic. Sending you hugs 💗
Melissa, Just wanted to say hello 😊. Your videos are always so interesting. I never took hormone replacement therapy. I’m 62 and my skin is wonderful, my hair is still thick and shiny, and I feel good. I swear by exercise and diet. Also, I believe sexy is truly a state of mind. Btw, You look amazing as usual.
Melissa you did a great job. I had a hysterectomy at 46 and I’ve been on the same patch you were on. I would be afraid to go off too. All the best to you🌷
I so agree. The body’s hormone levels change over time for a reason. Should we be messing with that? Menopause is not the body malfunctioning. I too focused on diet and exercise and did have a few hot flashes, but nothing unbearable. Women in the West need to remember that women in the East have few symptoms until they eat a Western diet. I think in a few years, we’re going to find out all the harmful effects of taking HRT. Big Pharma right now, though is more than happy to take women’s money.
You are obviously doing a good job and obviously probably have great genetics too. Do you have any tips you believe would be helpful to share certain foods or supplements do you weight train ❤❤
Never been on HRT and no wrinkles, thick hair, great skin and 115 pounds. Diet, exercise and great supplementation is all I did. Just take cream for private area. You’ll be fine… So grateful you will be ok.❤
I'm so sorry that you had to go thru all of that. Thank you, Thank you, for sharing all the things we were wondering. You are amazing how you've come thru everything still smiling and with a positive attitude. And still very beautiful ! 🌼
@@Melissa55I had DCIS 3 years ago and was told to go off HRT. Mine was Er positive too. I had a bad three years of no sleep and hot flashes. My GYN just put me back on because no sleep is no good!! Also started vaginal estrogen. My symptoms off HRT started about 7-9 months after I stopped. Please read Estrogen Matters. The author is an oncologist and his wife and daughter who had breast cancer are on HRT again. Please don’t think you caused it by being on HRT. I beat myself up for a while until I read that book and started looking at the studies.
@@BebeDaull By NO chance I am either criticizing Melissa whom I have followed since she had under 20,000 followers or diminishing her point and what she went through. But, after all the research I have done, is my responsibility to make it clear that HRT is not our enemy, it is actually good for us, and that's why I gave a resource, like Menopause Taylor, so people have a place to start looking for information if they want to.
You are Beautiful. You are a Godsend to so many women. I am not a cancer patient/survivor but I really believe you are sharing very important personal experiences. Thank you.
Thank you. I also had breast cancer, double mastectomy and have been through the same things you are going through. I have been so worried about my skin and looking like an old woman since I have gotten off of HRT and taking a drug to further get rid of any estrogen in my body. You are an inspiration with your positive vibes. I am also trying to be as positive as I can be. I am so grateful to be alive ❤
Oh Jean, I so feel this. It's the uncertainty about things isn't it? And I hear and read so much about how helpful HRT is so it makes you upset when you just can't take it. But we are good, aren't we? We will forge ahead and do what needs to be done to stay alive and live our best life. Bless you and thank you, Melissa
I represent this thread! I'm a "thriver" like you ladies. I took Tamoxifen for 8 years and was heading towards a 10 year run but my oncologist had a special Onco-gene test done on me and told me I could come off. I'm 65, get taken for 10 years younger on the regular but never hide from reality after all I'm proud of it. Not being on HRT AND being on an estrogen inhibitor didn't effect a thing! Fitness, nutrition, attitude and humor go a looooong way. Oh and of course great skincare and some makeup!! LOL! Gratitude for "life itself", in a way another can NOT understand had I not been through these things, drives a powerhouse of meaningful energy in my life. I know you girls understand this too! Wish we weren't in the same club...it's not a club you'd sign up for but it informs "living in the moment" in a very aware way. To me that's a gift! And I get to inspire others in my life to face ALL adversity in this way. Yes, Melissa....we are "good" aren't we....forging ahead indeed!! @@Melissa55
Never took HRT. But had DCIS and LCIS stage 2A. Nothing has changed for me.....6 surgeries and 2 years to remission, bilateral mastectomy wasn't a horrible experience.
You are an absolute gem and helping so many with your honest sharing and your beautiful presence.Thank you for your courage and your fabulous sense of humor.
I was taken off HRT a long time ago. Now I have bone disease. It’s tricky. Trying to tackle this naturally because my Dr doesn’t want me on HRT again due to age and the cancer risk. I respect your openness about your cancer. Your message helps a lot of people. Bless you and wish you a lifetime of good health.
I’m so sorry that you went through all of the surgery, cancer, etc. Melissa. Your courage and willingness to discuss what you’ve been through to help others makes you even more beautiful! You are blessed to have a loving husband, and he is blessed to have a loving and courageous beautiful wife!❤❤
You did great my dear. Iam so happy that you are feeling so much better. It was uncomfortable for you. But it was so very kind of you to do it. Iam sure the ladies that are going through. What you have been through appreciate you. As always. May God continue to Bless you🙏
Your body has certainly been through so much. I believe your choice to have a positive outlook and strength of mind will carry you through this. So glad to hear your husband has been helpful, as that plays a part in your healing journey as well. Blessings to you as you continue healing. ❤ 🙏
You are so brave Melissa, to publicly discuss your most intimate issues is admirable. I respect you, I appreciate you and wow you deserve nothing but happiness.
I am 68 and never took HRT…I didn’t have a difficult Premenopausal, Menopausal and Post Menopausal journey. I ate well exercised and have been using moisturizer and serums since I was 18 years old. I live in the Northeast so, my skin is dry. I do have vaginal atrophy and dryness, so my store is closed. 😂 My OB/GYN suggested coconut oil. 🤷♀️ I do now have osteoporosis and I do weight bearing exercises with Apple Fitness. The maximum I lift is 14 pounds. I do Pilates, Core and Yoga also. Honestly just live each day to the fullest and enjoy life while we can live it! Be well, my dear…🥰
why are you not on vagina estrogen? it's perfectly safe and it's unbelievable that an Ob/gyn won't prescribe it, prevents UTIs and prolapses. I'm shocked by this. its perfectly safe and you can use it forever.
Totally smashed it, and thank you for talking about those uncomfortable areas especially,. for a lot of women they're the worst, as the can't talk to their friends and family about it. So thank you you did a great job to help us understand it all. 👏 👏 👏 👏 ❤
Well done, Melissa. I never did HRT because i have a compelling family history of breast and ovarian and uterine cancer (just between my sister and mother) and it's contraindicated, for the same kinds of reasons your Dr's were alarmed at your wish to continue on it after your diagnosis. What nobody tells you is that you can feel better post menopause as well. I can tell you I feel better since menopause than i ever felt before. I did experience brain fog for a couple of years, and that was uncomfortable for a bit but that resolved. My mood is better, I am less bothered by everything. I've completely mellowed out, and I love it!
I would say that my experience was much like yours. I had hot flashes for maybe a year but I powered thru. Perimenopause was the hardest time - being done with the monthly cycle was the best thing ever!
I’m so glad you posted this I feel the same way I powered through I started menopause at 47 I’m now 59 I had all those symptoms once I got through I actually feel better than I have my whole life !❤😊
My experience was similar to all of your's. Perimenopause was the hardest with hot flashes. I didn't take anything and powered through them. Now that I'm post menopause, I feel great. I'm glad I never took HRT. I would be too worried about getting cancer.
Me too. Nothing to do with that disaster they describe if you don't go on HRT . There is so much pressure on the web nowadays talking about the "need" of HRT that they even make me doubt about my own experience. I agree with all of you that hot flashes and most things take place at perimenopausal times until your body adapts. When you are postmenopausal you feel ok again, even better than when you were full of estrogens. That, s my experience. I, ve been on menopause for seven years now. My weight is the same weight I had when I was 30, of course, now more effort is needed, healthy diet, EXERCISE is key... Etc. But I am happy too of not having tried HRT (My mom was on it and had breast cancer, I don't, know if it had something to do or not, but it was the first breast cancer on the whole family). Now they say it has nothing to do. My doctors (ALL of them recommended me not to go on it)
Melissa, thank you for your honesty and I think you did a fantastic job, no need to be uncomfortable or talk yourself down! I keep you in my thoughts and wish you all the best. 💞
Thank goodness my DR agrees I can take it the rest of my life !! Hopefully I won't have an issue with cancer. But I tried stopping several yr's ago and wow the hot flashes weren't worth it !!
I totally get that talking about cancer and its side effects can be scary, especially when you're undergoing hormone replacement therapy. But trust me, opening up about your experience and sharing how you're coping can be a game-changer for others going through the same thing. You can make a real difference in people's lives by raising awareness and providing support. So don't be afraid to share your journey. We're all in this together, and I'm sending you loads of love and encouragement. ❤❣
You are such a trooper, Melissa! May God continue to sustain you and heal you day by day. You haven’t lost your smile in all of this, and that is SO remarkable! You are a blessing!
The you so much for your video. Hi Melissa . You answered all the questions people can be too embarrassed to ask so it does help. Continued good health and recovery .
Thank you for being so candid Melissa. I don't think sugar-coating serious health issues works. I really admire how you have found the strength to overcome all your health issues and carry on. Thinking about libido, mine has left home. I'm 63 and in a new relationship but he has potency issues anyway. I have been on HRT for years but in the last couple of years I really have no interest in bedroom gymnastics. I wish I did though. I hope and pray that you continue to get better. You are due some good health now. Thanks for keeping us up-to-date beautiful Melissa x
for libido you may just need supplemental testosterone. it is natural for women to have some testosterone, it helps create libido. exercise helps produce it naturally but some recieve replacement therapy.
Thank you so much. You know, as long as you’re both kind of on the same page it might be just fine. And that area is so much about communication too. I wish you the best in this new start.

I just found your channel and I am so happy that I did. I had a complete (except for one ovary) hysterectomy at the age of 40.I was lucky to have a few hot flashes, but that was it. I never went on HRT, except for a brief stint on progesterone, which a holistic doctor told me I needed. I had two heart attacks last year because of Long Covid, then Covid when I caught it a second time. I feel like that aged me a lot. Only now at the age of 62 do I feel like my face and neck are drying up and sagging all at the same time. Have you shared on a video how you have such a taut neck and jawline at 65? You are gorgeous as well as brave.Thank you so much for sharing your vulnerabilty to help other women. What a blessing you are.
Rock star!
You r such a beautiful woman inside and out, what an inspiration you are u r always in my prayers❤
Oh Julie, I'm going to cry. Thank you. I wish I was a person that could talk about issues easier, but I just get embarrassed. I don't know why. I'm not a prude. But I appreciate so much you saying this. Much love and thanks.
@@Melissa55 we can very much not be a prude privately but not want to talk about it publicly. We all get that. ❤️

I absolutely LOVE your hair in this video! Such a beauty!!! 💗
It’s hard isn’t it Debra? You are a brave women. I wish I could give you a hug . And thank you.
Does Doug have a single brother or friend as kind as he is, lol I'm so happy to see how kind your husband is to you. Happy for you both.
You are so lucky to have Doug. A good relationship is golden. You have given some very helpful information. Thank you x
❤ Janis
I’ve been on HRT since age 37. I had premature ovarian failure. 60 now and am still on HRT - just lowest dose 3-4x week.
Oh thank you so much Janis. ❤❤❤
What a woman!!! So many of us needed to hear some or all that you have shared. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart!
Wow! These videos are priceless for women! Thank you❤
Melissa…you are a warrior.
Oh thank you!!! I sure appreciate it.
You’re so adorable and sweet. You did a great job helping other women. ♥️
Thank you for open up yourself for the benefits of others. GOD BLESS YOU ❤
I appreciate that so much. Way out of my comfort zone!!!
Bless you ❤. A brilliant and brave video for those going through the same issues. Xx
Thank you for sharing.....even uncomfortably. Your vulnerability, which is human, has really helped your audience. Gosh bless you!
I'm so sorry that you had to go thru all of that. Thank you, Thank you, for sharing all the things we were wondering. You are amazing how you've come thru everything still smiling and with a positive attitude. And still very beautiful ! 🌼
I am in HRT and love it. Every story is different. Menopause Taylor has great info in her channel.
I liked it too!!! I really wanted to stay on it but couldn't. Take care and thank you!
@@Melissa55 the thing is that is not bad for everybody, we must get well informed. I’m so happy you are doing great!! 🤗
Melissa is talking about going off HRT because of her cancer. She never said it was bad for everyone.
Thank you.
Thank you, Melissa, for being open, honest and sharing your vulnerability ❤.
You are an incredible woman. Thank you for sharing your life with us. God will take care of us. Love you.
You are doing a fantastic job of relating what you experienced and I know you have helped a lot of women.

You are so brave Melissa, to publicly discuss your most intimate issues is admirable. I respect you, I appreciate you and wow you deserve nothing but happiness.
Oh and I forgot to say you look absolutely gorgeous ‼️
Do now ?
Or is that a typo u do not have osteoporosis?
Totally smashed it, and thank you for talking about those uncomfortable areas especially,. for a lot of women they're the worst, as the can't talk to their friends and family about it. So thank you you did a great job to help us understand it all. 👏 👏 👏 👏 ❤
You were brilliant! So real and honest. We love you, you are one brave lady ❤
Thank you for sharing. I’m perimenopausal and everything I read and hear is discouraging concerning menopause. I’m so happy you’re better than ever!
My doctors (ALL of them recommended me not to go on it)
Thank you so much for your bravery. You have helped innumerable women (& their partners, I’m sure!) God bless you!❤
Melissa, thank you for your honesty and I think you did a fantastic job, no need to be uncomfortable or talk yourself down! I keep you in my thoughts and wish you all the best. 💞

I appreciate you !

What an informative video Mellissa. You look great! Prayers for continued health!!!
My 36 year old daughter had a double mastectomy for breast cancer two years ago. She is reconstructed now and doing really well. I am going to go and check out your work out videos now...

Truth. Just as reaching puberty from a little girl to a woman, those same hormones take a long time to make changes.
The reverse is true for diminishing hormones. Each woman is unique.
The thing is, I will have to be OK. I absolutely cannot go back on any kind of HRT so I have to set my mind to it being OK. So we shall see I guess.
