- Hey All, we are back with another example of Nintendo being a little silly in their decision making process as it relates to Pokemon Sword and Shield. I know I'm a little late to the game with this topic but I wanted to talk about how Nintendo chose to BLOCK legendary and mythic Pokemon caught in Pokemon Go from being transferred to Pokémon Sword and Shield: The Crown Tundra. Personally, I think this is a BAD choice on their part for the reasons I go over in the video ESPECIALLY considering that Pokemon Home will allow you to transfer Legendaries and Mythics from other games INCLUDING super duper obviously fake hacked Pokemon like the shiny Mew in the video with no problem.
THAT said, let me know what you all think about this. Is there some pro that I'm missing here? Do any of you support this decision and if so why? I'm trying to gain a better understanding of why they are doing this. At first, I thought it was to limit the amount of legendary Pokémon entering the game but they just give them all out in the Crown Tundra anyway? Is it to get more people to but the Crown Tundra and Isle of Armor dlcs? I really hope thats not the reason... especially because cheaters with things like SYSBot are already rampant enough as it is and all the Pokemon coming from GO are still real Pokemon.
For the record the full error text is: "The selected Pokemon brought over from Pokemon Go has not been obtained in this save file. The Pokemon cannot be withdrawn."

I am so glad someone finally talked about this! There's even an inconsistency to this; I haven't encountered Cresselia in my Sword file yet, but I have 2 of them in Home (1 from Go, 1 from Bank/GTS,) and only one of those Cresselia can go to Sword. The one from Bank.
once you send it to Sword, you can send the Go Cresselia to Sword.

I know this is just a joke, but the reason shiny mew isn’t flagged is because it was obtainable in an event at some point. Actually, almost all of the mythical pokemon can be shiny. The only exception I know of is Arceus.

I caught a Shiny Celebi in Pokémon Go, and wanted to transfer it into Pokémon Sword. Thing was, I didn’t know about this “Restriction” and now the Celebi is stuck in Pokémon Home. The only way to transfer it in would be to trade with someone to put a Celebi in your game, and then send the Celebi back to the person. One way is transferring in a Celebi caught in a Pokémon Crystal Virtual Console save file, send it over to Pokémon Home through Pokémon Bank, then put it into Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield so you can transfer Celebi caught in Pokémon Go
I have the same issue, but with BDSP. I've got a Deoxys and shiny Celebi both rotting away because there's no way to get them in BDSP. I literally have 491/493.
Exactly! My first Pokémon games were Pokémon go and Sword , since I've never had another nintendo. By the time the shiny celebi quest came out in PoGO, I wanted to transfer my other celebi over to Pokémon Sword, and I couldn't, until I got a fake shiny celebi from a random trade. Concluding, this decision makes people cheat in order to get their real and legal pokémon afterwards... silly and disgusting.
I agree that it's dumb. I got a Zacian in Pokemon Go. I transferred it into Home, so that i could complete my Pokedex and get my shiny charm, then i found out that it wouldn't let you. I would assume Nintendo and Pokemon get a decent amount of money out of Pokemon Go, so it's weird that they lock those Pokemon out.

If you just want to complete the dex, trade the zacian on the gts in home for another zacian, then that one will be able to transfer to SwSh.
Dude, I agree with you but you have to remember that it’s not Nintendo‘s fault it’s game freaks since they created sword and shield.
Don't worry, it's gotten even worse with the Pokeball plus being discontinued and finding a new one that actually contains Mew being incredibly hard and expensive
I think you can get a free mew in BDSP if you have a Let's go save file. Still sucks, though.
I really love your videos, recently stumbled upon the hacked Pokemon series and I really enjoyed it, you earned a new sub man! (had to remove 99% of the comment since I saw somebody else already asked about the Shiny Mew you can get by glitches in Pokemon Red)

@@LetsNot I actually have a weird question. Not that I would ever do it or somebody would at all - since I would find it a waste - but lets say somebody gets that glitched Shiny Mew from gen 1 and uses it in a Wonder Trade, what's your opinion about it? I know trading hacked Pokemon is a no-go and stuff, but this theoretically isn't hacked but glitched. Just curious question, I would never do it since 1. I keep my shinies myself and 2. I'm not gonna spend hours on it but yeah just wondering
@@gabriellejacquiet9925 personally it depends. if you glitch or use a dns server to acess a locked event or area like snowpoint temple or shaymin in platinum then its good with me but if you glitch to get a pokemon that shouldnt exist then its a no go. there are only a few exceptions to this rule like the faulty shiny locks with manaphy and ash pikachu in ultra sun since its possibe to get those by accident
@@_wheat856 hmmm curious Shiny Mew shouldn't exist in Red but technically it is possible to get it in Emerald (and yeah ik you could get it in Emerald but the point is Shiny Mew using soft reset in Emerald is possible if you glitch to the locked area so would it be bad to glitch it in Red since regardless you could always get it 'semi-legitimate'
Shiny mew from gen 1 is legit to pokebank 😊
You can also glitch a mew in the virtual console versions of pokemon in a convoluted way that is likely to fail as secede to get a shiny mew
Ya thats true, but I'm pretty sure that mew is blocked from going to home. I've got that mew in my virtual console yellow though so I can double check!
@@LetsNot nope I tried it b/c I was checking out every glitch in the games and it gives it game freaks ID and transfers over but was so long and convoluted just to test out if it actually works I don’t recommend unless you have time and patience or you are a masochist b/c if you fail you have a good chance to have to start RBY save file all over because it might corrupt it.
I remember actually get setup with the glitch could even take a couple of hours. What I wonder though is, I know it's an illegitimate Shiny Mew but it isn't hacked, so how is it looked upon in the community?
Wow, it's true. Pokémon Go WAS my gateway into Pokémon. Period. I wouldn't be into Pokémon without it. I didn't even know about this. I'm glad I saw this before I moved any legendaries over...

The another workaround is putting it up for trade for the same exact pokemon. Even if the version you receive is from a Pokémon Go account your Pokémon home will let you transfer it.
Sucks coming in late and not having anyone else to trade Pokemon with people for legendaries to give back to transfer in my GO Pokemon.
Why would casual players want to transfer legendary Pokémon if they already have it?

I very much agree with the whole tranfer blocking mythical and legendary pokemon being dumb af, especially considering I have 3 mythical mons in home that I wish to tranfer to sword. Those mythicals being a mew, a normal and a shiny celebi
Edit: I've gotten them out of home, but it doesn't mean that the restriction existing ain't stupid
Edit 2: since this comment was made, I got all 3 transferred to swsh and forgot to update this comment about it.

I was able to transfer a pogo dialga to my shield save where I haven't even see palkia or dialga does it not work for some legendaries?

If it's not YOUR dialga from PoGo, then there isn't a block. It's only if the Pokemon has your Home OT (as PoGo pokemon you transfer from your PoGo account direct to home) that you can't transfer it into SwSh. If you've traded the pokemon (i.e. it's not your Home OT) then you CAN transfer it to SwSh.

Didnt have zamazenta in sword transferred one from go and I cant put it in. So I put it into the GTS and asked for a different zamazenta . I got one from go and was able to put it in. So there is no point to restricting this. I just had to do a trade for no reason when I could have just transferred mine.

I’ve played all the main series games and wanted to save the legendary (especially the extremely!!! hard shinies) I caught in those games so I was super excited to be able to bring over my shiny Pokémon Go legends into sword and shield except I couldn’t. And I was bummed because it meant I had to search them out in the raid dens and skip out on shiny hunting them just to register them to then bring in my shiny from pogo ? Ugh just dumb

For mew specifically you can actually transfer to lets go instead of home... then transfer from lets go into home... then from home into sword and shield without the block. But obv because lets go only has pokemon 1-151 ... this workaround only works for kanto pokemon.

Unfortunately, you cannot transfer Mew from Go to Let's Go. Another dumb arbitrary restriction that also makes the 50$ rare and useless Pokeball Plus the only legitimate way to get Mew in Let's Go (and it is also shiny-locked).
I’ve played every main series game but I never knew / cared about events. I went through Go in 2022 to get all of those Event-Only locked Pokémon to complete my living dex, but I can’t even transfer them into the newest games compatible with home…

I dont use Pokemon Home. I have it downloaded and have touched it once or twice. But the only things i need in Shield are special things like rare and mythical pokemon from Go. Not like I've been playing that for 5 years... So the idea of throwing away a mew that i cant put into Shield seems dumb as hell to me. I've already accepted that I'll never get event or mythical pokemon into Shield since of courE I'll never ALREADY have them in my pokedex. If i did i wouldnt need another... Whatever, 600ish pokemon with DLC is a big number so i cant complain. Just a shame that everything in this world revolves around the rich getting richer and consumers being forced to deal with all sorts of walls to ensure those riches keep rolling in. To bad people just dont treat other people with respect and dignity.
Whats crazy is I own a Nintendo Switch, Pokemon Shield and both DLC, Pokemon Lets Go Eevee, and have put $100ish into Pokemon Go. And even with all of that AND a nintendo online subscription, I still have to pay a monthly for Home and get all kinds of walls like this video shows. How much more do i need to shell out?

it only looksfor if you ever had the species in your game at all. shiny or not if a celebi ever spent a second on your save its registered as allowed to transfer
I'm glad you made this video as I was wondering these things myself.
But does this also mean that I cannot transfer over a Japanese event shiny Mew from Emerald to Sword and Shield just because in Sword I haven't discovered a shiny Mew? I have a Pokeball Plus Mew once transfered over to Sword and Shield, so it is registered, but that one isn't shiny.
You just send one from another game on switch to shield take it out and back in the original game and then put gos one in

We need to complain to pokemon and force a change. I got a zamazenta stuck in there when i was trying to bring it into sword

It really sucks they’re forcing you to pay for dlc and event entries to complete the dex. I was super excited to get Sword when it came out and I’m so disheartened to know that I either need to cheat to complete my dex, or pay to get the swsh dlc and pay to enter events in pogo.
I’m also kind of upset that they made the decision to exclude certain Pokémon from swsh, because I had intended to transfer a cherished Pokémon to sword and now it’s just stuck in home forever. I guess that’s my fault for not checking that it could actually be moved to the game, but I’ve never seen this before in any of the previous games?
Anyway thanks for reading my rant, I’m just super bummed that I can’t complete my living dex with all legit Pokémon and that Nintendo is keeping certain Pokémon behind a paywall.
pokemon sword and shield are an insult to the players, adding dlcs to the series now after two decades .... I am glad I was bored of it before any of the dlcs came out
I get around it by abusing the Furfrou old status that it’s been given on home, all I do is trade Pokémon such as gyaradose for a furfrou then a furfrou for a mewtwo then a mewtwo for whatever legendary I want.

Meltan is an exception because there is no other way to get it except from go :)

well I have legal Japanese shiny Mew that came from Japanese Emerald that has 6IV not hack cause if I check in PKHeX if I chance IV 31 to any value it will say "PID mismatch encounter" so is a static encounter you can't change it

I'm upset that I can't get my legal darkri and shaymin. Since they have my OT they can't be traded past black and white 2.
they were very likely accessed through the void glitch in diamond and pearl. only the ones from platinum are seen as legit as that was the only game to have the event items
@@_wheat856 No void glitch was done. It was the Toys R Us event. I got them legally but since the event had you go and catch the pokemon it had your original ot on it. They were trying to minimize the amount of hacked pokemon so even if you obtained these legitimately through the Toys R US event they did not have a mystery gift OT so game freak said go screw yourself if you got it from anyother event than the mystery gift.

I've had both my shiny Mews for years. One of them is Japanese in an event ball with five IVs from the Hoenn region, though.. :o

i looked through every event i could find and didnt find any with shiny and cherish ball.
Could have been someone who just used a cheat to get the event ball and caught it legitimately, it doesn't have perfect IVs.. I had a game shark that did that back in the day.. I was a dumb kid lmao!
Mythical Pokémon can’t be traded on the Pokémon home mobile app. I recently tried trading one of my ash Greninja’s with someone and Ash Greninja couldn’t be traded it’s considered as a mythical Pokémon apparently

What the issues I do not see maybe did it cause Pokémon go spin off game it does not effect people have living dex Pokémon need work more balance issues do not make paid Pokémon like shiny mew near impossible to beat

Great question, yes it is BUT since literally the only place you can get it (outside of events) is Pokemon Go they made an exception for it

First of all Nintendo only publishes pokemon games/apps they do not have any say development wise the actual development company is to blame for any mechanic in their apps/games in Pokemon home's case ILCA is the developers of pokemon home so this issue is to be soley ILCA inc's fault don't blame Nintendo for stuff they have no control over Nintendo can only be blamed for stuff in games they actually had a hand in development of such as the Mario and Zelda games

So lets say ya got the shiny Mew in GO which like ya said is a long task and you worked real hard to earn that shiny Mew as its one of the rarest shinies in Pokemon, and ya want to transfer it to SwSh to flex or whatever, oh sorry ya can't send it over to your game cause ya don't have mew obtained in the SwSh game, that is a load of bullshit, and to make matters worse the hacked shiny mew is allowed with no problems. This makes my blood boil, cause I got a Shiny Palkia from doing a raid which I was hype to get, if I didn't had a normal Palkia in my Sword, I wouldn't be able to transfer it which is dumb as hell.

This happened to me
The only thing I can think of is the level determination. Shiny hacked legends and mythicals are always level 100. Meaning you can’t use them for most of the game. But Pokémon in go have CP, which is calculated into a specific level once they get transferred. So, a legendary or mythical from go might be available to new players early on in the game.
That's a good point seeing as Pokemon Go letendaries are normally level 20. I wonder if that is part of their concern

Personally I am fine with the limitation. In fact I think they should have also made it so that you can't transfer the shiny legendaries without already having the shiny in your dex. That would keep people with their 30 shiny Groudons from making legendary shinies worthless.
(I know cheating basically does that already but at least for the people that want to play legitimately there would still be some sport in it.)
