Thank you for the link to Carnegie Hall. I watched the first video, and loved it! We are doing cultural geography for Social Studies next year, and I will definitely be incorporating this into our studies.
Thanks as always for greatly informative videos! A little off topic from this video, but I'm wondering if you can offer some info about your coop. Specifically how many hours you meet for and time of day. I'll be starting a mini coop/friendship group in the fall and am trying to gather as much insight as possible. Thanks again!
The other mom and I that run it narrowed down days and times that we were available to lead activities . We then took those options and put up a poll in our Facebook group and people voted on the best time that worked for them. We’ve tried different days and times over the years and it’s really hit and miss. We’re currently meeting Fridays at 2pm. Scheduled activities last around 45 mins and the kids have free play time after that. It usually ends up being around 2 hours total. Hope that helps and good luck with starting your group!
Thank you! I really enjoy Torchlight but with the amount of reading scheduled for U.S. History this past year it wasn’t possible to fit it in the schedule. I do plan on returning to it in future years though.
Perhaps you addressed this in a previous video, but the Core Knowledge teacher guides are often 200 pages or more per unit. Do you follow them closely and include all of the scaffolding and introduction of vocabulary, etc? Do you pick and choose? Thanks.
The introduction to the teacher guides are pretty lengthy, but the lessons themselves don’t take that long. I’ve found that once you understand how the teacher guides are organized it’s quite easy to work thru them. My oldest is 5. My question is- do you think you would do the two histories if your girls were not both school aged? Do you think CL alone would suffice for K/1 history? Or do you think it needs to be supplemented?

Thank youfor the videos you make and resources you share ...
I have loved your videos! I was wondering what prompted you to step away from torchlight this year? Thanks so much!
also, do you mind sharing the information about lego coding? thanks so much!

@@gotye3 it’s called First Lego League. My local library sponsors the program. You can read more about it here

My kids also love Scrambled States! Gamewright games are usually a hit with us.

@@michellegf Thanks! I will check them out.

If it was just my 7yr old I would just do CK. I think it’s more than sufficient at that age.
I found a few of your older videos with Curiosity Chronicles. Did you switch to Oh Freedom after medieval Curiosity Chronicles?
We finished CC early modern and then went to Oh Freedom. We do plan on returning to CC modern in a couple years though.
Do you have any videos that show a closer look at your Harcourt art books?
No, but this is the video I watched before deciding to purchase them.

Do you do any end of year testing for your kids?
Yes we did MAP Growth test for the first time at the end of this school year.
@@michellegf For both of your girls? Was it all online?
