The room I showed in the video is called Apartment Erekle. I recommend reserving it online using this website: www.booking.com/index.html?aid=1724899 Or you can use that site to search for other hotels, apartments, hostels, etc.
You have inspired me to take my first overseas trip alone (60 yo woman). I am in awe on how you navigate the different countries without knowing the language. I am flying into Zurich with my rail pass in hand in a month. I am hoping to go to the countries east of there. I now realize how insanely cheap the rail fares are in that area of the world so probably should not have gotten the pass, though may make my life a little easier. Keep up the awesome work! Your videos are truly a treat.
Nowadays google translate makes traveling so much easier. Especially considering you download small files and make just run offline. No need for internet data, just a smartphone charged up.
the world is so big.. so many places to explore and so many people, remember guys if you die the world keeps getting old so don’t waste time of your life and go out or go do the things you want to do!
Hey Gabriel, I’m very impressed by your travels! Your insight and heart ❤️ for adventure are astonishing. You really seem like a great man. Your keen sense of direction and desire for knowledge is simply inspirational. You are a beautiful person! -j
@@GabrielTravelerVideos it's true i like the way you just tell the facts & the prices of things other travel vids it's more about them and not the place and they have annoying pop up's and stupid music
Great video Gabriel, loved looking through all those amazing caves. It reminded me of Cyprus and a beautiful monastery built into the rock I once visited; I could explore caves all day!!!
Very nice! It's amazing to me how a cave warms you up or cools you down. Moderates. Nice art. The food looked interesting. Not for vegetarians I think.
HEY GABRIEL, I HOPE YOU PICK UP WHERE YOU LEFT OFF BECAUSE I WANT TO KNOW ABOUT THE DINNER YOU WERE ABOUT TO EAT. IT LOOKED VERY YUMMY. I WAS THINKING AS YOU WERE GOING THROUGH THOSE ROOMS THAT IT WOULD BE INTERESTING TO KNOW IF THEY WERE PLACES TO SLEEP OR TO WORK. WHEN YOU GOT TO THE TOP I WAS CAPTIVATED BY THE CHURCH ITSELF. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL REWARD FOR CLIMBING ALL THE WAY UP THERE. UNFORTUNATELY I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO MAKE IT UP THAT FAR BECAUSE OF HEALTH ISSUES I'M HAVING BUT I GOT TO GO ALONG WITH YOU SO,THANK YOU I REALLY ENJOYED IT.
Yeah a tour probably would have been helpful to know what each room was used for. Fascinating place. It would be a hell of a trip to step back in time 1,000 years and walk around there and see how they were actually living.
Love the old buildings, even the dilapidated ones....they just ooze with history....gets the imagination going. Thanks Gabriel--for visiting these remote places--extremely interesting!
Hey Gabriel, enjoyed your travel videos, they are awesome. One on Tibisi makes me want to visit there one day.... and also the towns in Greece too. You rock!
This was a great video, bringing across the grittiness of provincial Georgia, especially approaching winter. Once you get out of Tbilisi, it is still an adventure for the independent traveller.
Just like the caves in Turkey, it is likely that these too are far older than the "accepted" historical narratives. When I see some of the angles and nixhes, draining grooves etc. 1100's was not high tech as much of the construction appears to be. You'd need 1000's of people over decades to dig those w bronze tools.... Pretty darn awesome tho. So happy you and others travel to these off the tourist map locations. My mobility has declined a bit more over the past 3 yrs and my dreams of traveling to more out of the locations are on hold. I've settled for the time being in Lake Atitlan Guatemala. Shorter flights to Peru, one of my other favorite countries to visit. The old pre Inca ruins, for the most part, are still accessible to a crippled like me. I use two canes now for stability and mobility. Gabriel, I have followed you since 2015 when I was preparing for my trip to Central America. I had intentions to go to Se Asia, The Middle East and Meditation regions. I am now very satisfied watching travelers as yourself share your fascinating experiences on YT. With great admiration and respect, thank you. If you ever make it back to Guatemala say Hi
Cool, thanks a lot for following all this time! Lake Atitlan is a nice spot. And I agree, the caves could be a lot older. You can't carbon date the rock so they have to kind of guess based on other evidence they find which doesn't definitively pinpoint when the caves were first carved out by people.
Had a Gabriel marathon tonight. Playing catch up. Great videos. You hit all of the countries on my bucket list in this goround. I can't wait to get out for my round 2. 👍
Are there still refugees from Abkhazia living in Borjomi? Lots were staying there back in 2000 as the hotels frequented in Soviet times were mostly vacant. Stopped in Gori (Stalin‘s birthplace) on my way to Vardzia. It wasn’t easy getting there. Lonely Planet mentioned a narrow gauge railway 🚃 through the mountains wasn’t running, but it would have been epic. Congratulations on revealing a challenging place to explore.
I thought here we go another small cave, we seen them all before.. BUT.. that cave complex was pretty cool.. All the rooms and cut outs that look like an altar or even a Bed. Plus all the round holes dug into the floors. Must have been some sort of cooking area or a fireplace???.. Interesting... Cool video... Safe Travels.. *Greg*
Very cool, love those caves, reminds me of other megalithic architecture! I'll have to go back & check out your Turkey vid, I've always been curious to get a better look at those caves?!
Thank you for these videos Gabriel! I love your channel, thanks to it Incan travel the world without paying for a plane ticket, and I specially like the episodes of unknown countries, like Georgia... I always look for videos of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania
I’m so jealous! Lithuanian craft beers are reputed to be of high quality, that would be my paradise! Good that you like Mexico, it’s as if each of its 31 states were a different country... If you like contact with nature, I recommend you the Huasteca Potosina area with its waterfalls and Edward James’ surrealistic castle -in the middle of nature, and Real de Catorce ghost town Have fun!

The taxi was $50 USD including a tip. You can also book a tour in Tbilisi for cheaper, but man I'm glad I didn't do that, it would be an even longer driver just to spend an hour at the caves.
Hi Gabriel, Wonderful video oh those caves very well captured those caves are very elaborate there must be sections that are closed off to the public and funny enough there was very few people visiting those caves. I would like to see videos of the pyramids from you I have seen them before but on your camera I think you would personalize the experienced a bit.

The depressions in the cave floor -- are they for milling grains?
I was wondering that too. Or were they for having small fires burning in the pit, for warmth and cooking?
@@mvleblanc Yes, potentially a fire-pit. The smoke would be problematic without a vertical exit.Perhaps charcoal for roasting or heating (less smoky)?
I get the feeling they had an outlet down the side of the mountain. Now do you know what they might have been used for? :-)
@@MarkBH70.. An electrical outlet ? lol .. just kidding .. What kind of outlet do you mean ?
Hi from Georgia, it is indeed a cooking/fire place, the other depressions u see, are for bedrooms.
The caves remind me of the flintstones

Great camera footage of the locals and mountains on the drive to the caves! I imagine what it was like back in history.

How much was the taxi?
i would probably die of cold there. everything was out in the open. i have no idea how cold it gets but i assume 800 years ago, pretty cold.
Seriously man, it must have been brutal.
Stunning! How did u find a cab ride back from there? Lol
The taxi driver waited and gave me a ride back.
Yikes man. I wonder if Borjomi codes require annual elevator inspections?
That's a good question that I tried not to think about.
While you were exploring the caves, I kept having one question run through my mind: How will he get back!?? Did the Taxi driver wait for you? Happy you made it, though. Thanks for the video and keep it up!
Yes the taxi driver waited for me. We had a deal for him to drive me both ways.
The lift works even in this condition of building , robust technology ☺️
How much was the cab ride to the cave?
$50 including a tip.
After all - you deserve one glass of wine! 😉

in the joke i was thinking man this Gabriel is too strict with that budget lol

I love the elevator! Thanks for sharing the caves. Great camera, fast panning makes me dizzy .. ugg

Yes, I'd love to go but getting a visa is tricky. I think I'll wait for another trip when I'm really ready to tackle it. Probably not in winter.
