I saw this video a couple of days ago, but I wanted to say thank you for telling this story and showing unheard unreleased Buddy Holly audio as a Buddy Holly fan it’s sad that we are unfortunate of not getting releases like the Beatles and Elvis box sets and audio mixes of studio albums . Now most of it is due to his short career, but still the fact that he changed music and now he’s becoming a little bit obscure. It’s so heartbreaking but this shows that we don’t know what else is out there. I never knew that Buddy did these jingles for KLL when he did the apartment tapes it strange that this was never released until you released especially since years after you gave Paul the record they release the not fade away. Big box set. it but whatever the case may be I just want to say thank you
My pleasure. Thanks for the comment. The jingles do exist on RUclips, but they are very poor quality. The tape I have is second generation from the disc, and it was transferred to a cassette back in the 90s. I was able to digitize them within the last ten years. Paul got them on a CD. Actually, the first time I tried contacting Paul was thru Peter Noone. I had to make a copy for him as well, but that was shortly before Linda McCartney passed, so Peter was not able to reach out. I had made a lot of friends working in oldies radio, so I was very grateful that Maurice was able to pass the recording along to Paul.
Part of this story includes Maurice Williams, who helped get the jingles to McCartney. Maurice passed on August 4 at his home in Charlotte. Very sad to learn that. I truly enjoyed his friendship.
Thanks for posting this.I have heard Buddy singing jingles before but not these.
My pleasure, Keith. Glad you enjoyed it.
What a great story!
Thanks for subscribing, Randy.
By the way: still to come - I ruined Paul Harvey's Newscast, and The rigged radio contest. Stay tubed!
