It's just an impression Americans often make on others as if things are much more simple to them. I work a lot with Americans and their work ethic is closer to the Polish one - we tend to overwork, OT during the day and on weekends and for us the effect is much more important than the way to get there. I was surprised by American resilience a bunch of times - enough to change my pop-culturally biased image of Americans.

Oh my gosh, guys! What an adventure! I was really worried about you while watching this, even though I know that you are safe and sound because you uploaded this video :D Now you know that mountains are no joke, especially during the winter, and even on "easy" routes. A few advises from my side:
    1. The earlier you start your hike, the better.
    2. Dress in layers and choose natural materials. I recommend merino wool. You can find nice trekking clothes made of merino wool in Decathlon stores.
    3. Always have cash with you. Poland is very developed when it comes to cashless payments, but there are places where it is simply impossible. In tourist places, even toilets are paid (in cash).
    4. Check weather forecasts and warnings. The avalanche danger level is important. Sometimes even this easy and safe path may turn out to be dangerous.
    5. Remember that you can spend the night in a shelter. If you feel that you won't be able to get back before dark, or you are simply exhausted, staying overnight is a good idea.
Stay safe and warm and enjoy your stay :) Can't wait for the next video!

People in Poland or Germany possible other countries like to walk. When we say it’s not hard or far. It’s because it’s not a main problem to walk for half a day for us. I remember being in scouts in Poland as child we used to walk from town to town in groups during the day/ night few km - it’s great fun. Anyway I am probably too old now myself to walk distance too - not sure how many km did you make but you should be able to make up to 10km a day no problem looking at your faces looking similar to mine in age. 😉 you are probably few years younger in fact.

Hehe, electric socks? I guessed that you were dressed a bit too thickly and that you would sweat before you get there. Tip: in winter, breathe through your nose, not your mouth, because your throat will get scratchy. The sea eye is most beautiful in summer and early autumn, and in winter when the sun is shining. But at least you got some oxygen. You probably won't see a bear in winter because they go to sleep.😄

Fair play to ya for conquering Morskie Oko! If you want a more flat trek you should try Dolina Chochołowska or Dolina Kościeliska. These are valley trails in Tatry but still goergous views. Like most mountain trails in PL they are however fairly long, but you don't necessarily have to do the whole thing. The reason why Polish mountain trails are so long and hard compared to American ones is cause when they were established in the modern form around hundred years ago hiking was a niche hobby for dedicated, very fit people. But the views are worth the sweat. Tatra Mountains is my all time fave place in the world ❤ And I highly recommend also visiting in the summer, it's like a different world. Next time you are there, you should try the cable car (aerial lift) to Kasprowy Wierch - there are some great views there and even better if you use it as a starting point for further trekking (like to Czarny Staw Gąsienicowy, Czerwone Wierchy or to Świnica (that last one is amazing, but honestly, you need more mountain experience to go there) - keep in mind I'm talking about summer trekking or slightly off-season, in winter it's all too difficult).
Keep in mind there is usually a huge line to buy tickets for the cable car during the season, so you can buy one online earlier (and gamble on the weather that day) or get there very early, but be prepared for a long wait anyway.

10:33 This longer route is an asphalt road (for horses) with a lot of turns. In summer, people choose the shorter and steeper one, because it is difficult to walk on asphalt in the summer. Good thing you didn't choose horses. In the summer, at thirty degrees Celsius, they go up and down with carts full of tourists - there is a difference between 10 people weighing 35-50 kg and 10 people weighing 70-130 kg - unfortunately, the owners of these horses do not care how many kilograms the horses are carrying, but how many people they can fit in. on the cart

On the weekend trip that I engaged to my current wife we made the mistake of going up the mountain already later in the afternoon like 14:30 - 15:00. We got there a good hour late in the first place because of traffic, more time getting settled into the hotel than we thought etc. Anyway the sun was already setting when we were 10 minutes into the hike down and it was an hour walk back. We used glowsticks and cellphones to light our way down for the last half an hour, keeping the light source close to the ground, to watch out for sharp rocks etc. while swallowed by pitch black darkness. I actually chose this place, because it's one of the "Dark sky" spots for stargazing in Poland, mostly free of light pollution - sadly though it was pretty cloudy, so we didn't see any stars. Anyway the trails was at least well marked, like most trails in Poland are. Stil it was one of the more intense hikes i've had in in my life :D. I could've sworn I heard a bear roar somewhere in the distance too. It was in Beskid Żywiecki, twice the smaller mountains than Tatra, but mountains nonetheless.

4:42 No, it's not uphill, it's really FLAT. :) I traverse this trail in just over an hour, and then still climb the surrounding peaks for, say, 8 - 10 hours. Of course, I return along the same road. Without even noticing it.
But I generally walk more in life than drive. And I recommend it to everyone. BTW my friend also paid in blood. As we descended from the highest peak in Poland (Rysy, you may have seen it in the distance on the left side of the lake) she had to stop every now and then and bandage her feet. Good shoes are a must.

If these horses were treated badly, these people would have no way to earn a living. Therefore, they must take great care of these horses, because they provide for the family. The owner cannot afford to lose the horse or have it get sick. They have something to eat, as you can see. They are covered from snow.
They weren't moose. Moose are even larger and live more in swamps. It was a deer: male - bull and female - hind.

I felt really bad for those horses. It was sad. I love Morskie Oko, but because of those poor horses I never came back there yet. We visited Morskie Oko last July. The weather was beautiful and the views were stunning. We asked about the treatment of the horses and we were told they are NOT mistreated. They go only once or twice a day with plenty of rest and breaks and only a certain number of people so the weight is limited. Rummers of their mistreatment were started by people who wanted to replace them with electric shuttle bus which do not suite the atmosphere of the Tatra Mountains. We definitely recommend taking the horses at least on the way up to Morskie Oko. Cash is needed to pay for the horse rides. Last July the price was 90 zloty.

I don't think anyone uses them in Poland, but if you come from the desert, maybe it makes sense. We are used to it. I remember that when I was a child, I spent half a day in the cold and my shoes were not insulated, my toes got so cold that they were all red - what a pain. Then Mom put my feet in cold water and gradually added warm water - the effect was as if someone was sticking thousands of needles into me, the pain was incredible. Once the ice broke under me, but it was shallow, like a larger puddle, we were playing hockey and one foot fell into the water. Then I ran home, but it wasn't easy because my tracksuit froze and turned into a crust, but the winters in my childhood were much colder. Winters were -16 to -23 degrees Celsius, now it is much warmer.

Hi guys. Don't be angry, but I think this movie should have some kind of warning at the very beginning or in the title - not just a short message at the end of the vlog.
Never, never go to the mountains late if you do not have experience or a guide. Especially in winter. It's not about bears. The key thing is that you can then get lost and have no way to call for help. Don't go to the mountains without the application on your phone or without familiarizing yourself with the assistance options.
You also didn't have the right clothes. If you know the route, you can turn a blind eye to it. Maybe it's a great adventure for you, but it's just very irresponsible and don't let anyone think it's ok. It's not the same as walking around the city center - it requires preparation. No view is worth risking your health. I know you travel a lot, but many non-European are not used to longer hike. They are often surprised that everyone use their legs and buses not cars - even in the city centre. The fact that it is an easy trek for people from the south of Poland does not mean that it will be easy for visitors. Remember this and take care of yourself!
