Great to hear a positive review Brendon. I’ve been a Bon Jovi fan since the mid-80s although I’ve not been keen on the last couple of albums. However this one is a return to form. A couple of songs remind me of Train, which is no bad thing in my book. My favourite songs are Living Proof, Walls of Jericho & Waves.

Listened to the album, it’s the album you’d expect in 2024 from Bon Jovi. Like you said, it’s not the 80s anymore. They’re older and have evolved their sound, and it’s not a bad thing.

I´ve been a fan since 1991. Forever is not New Jersey, but I have to admit I really like the album. I think it´s much better than 2020. It´s the new Bon Jovi, and I like the way it sounds. My favs are Living Proof, Walls of Jericho, The People´s House and Legendary. Bon Jovi Forever!!!

I think this album sounds more like a Jon Bon Jovi solo album. Losing Richie Sambora I feel like is if the Stones lost Keith Richards. I am also hoping that Richie comes out with a solo album. His four new tracks that he released are superb.

Agreed on the booklet's lack of pics and info. I mean, if you're going to offer music on vinyl and or cd, put some fun stuff in there, make an effort. Its a fun part of buying a physical copy of music.

Great review, enjoyed it a lot. I'm a big fan since 1993, and I still think their best albums are "Keep the Faith" and "These Days", I kinda evolved with them and still enjoy every album. "2020" was great given the time and space Jon was in. I'm still getting into "Forever", but it sounds fresh indeed, some songs actually surprised me, which is always a good thing. I still hope another producer would push them some more in regards to songwriting and arrangements, but I feel I will enjoy this album years from now. The booklet is disappointing indeed, but we got a great one with "2020", so the next might be better again. :-)

Also saw the documentary this weekend and you have to respect the man. Lots of humility needed when you were once a major rockstar.

After 2020, my first listen of Forever was like a breath of fresh air that rapidly faded into an empty shell of what the band used to be upon follow-up listens. While Have A Nice Day is a classic by modern standards, I thought John Shanks destroyed the fullness that once defined the band on day one. Since then the band has been reduced to a bunch of session players, big guitars have been replaced by delay and echo effects, or are completely stripped out for an acoustic sound. Unfortunately everything acoustic here is far more neutered than anything from the Young Guns era. This sounds more like The Cranberries than Bruce Springsteen. Get a new producer already and include other band members in the writing process!!!

Im going into it with an open mind and I've been a fan from the beginning but when Richie left ,no he didn't handle his departure the right way, some of the dynamic diminished. I got my copy on CD the day before it was released, because I pre-ordered mine, and when I played it on my CD Player, I was really enjoying it, and I listened to it again on my iPod and over these last few days, and I think the album really has a few good themes, where some of the songs are mainly throwbacks through Bon Jovi's 40 Year Career, and also having easily relatable songs as well, and also a couple of personal songs for Jon as well, and I personally think this is one of Bon Jovi's best albums in a long time.
Yes, I think This House Is Not For Sale is my top favourite Bon Jovi album, but this is certainly close to being a top favourite of mine along with some of the other albums in my view. Yes, for some people, the new album may not be as good as their classic albums, but I still enjoy it as much as the others.
My favourite song on the album has got to be 'The People's House' and I think it's just amazing and definitely one of the best Bon Jovi songs of this decade so far, and it does have a 'Keep The Faith' sounding and I think it could fit on 'This House Is Not For Sale' in my opinion, and I love 'Living Proof' which is definitely a classic Bon Jovi song in the modern era.

If ‘living proof’ is the hardest rockin song in the album we’re in trouble. Yes it’s a better song than Legendary and should have been less single in that regard but it’s by no means a Jovi classic. I hate the way Phil X is been held back. The guy is so talented and he’s obviously been told to play something simple and generic for the solo. So frustrating. Wish they would use him and his ability more, he’s soooo good. Think I’ll give this one a miss tbh. Pity, been a Jovi fan since forever. Enjoyed the documentary though and huge respect for Jon and wish him the very best in his recovery. They need to get rid of Shanks though. It’s Jovi not Springsteen lite

I did not care for 2020 at all. I normally give an album time to grow on me and I never did that with 2020 because I just didn't care for the tone and what I was hearing lyrically. Forever, though certainly not on par with older stuff, is to me, leaps and bounds better than 2020 on first listen. On repeated listens, I'm sticking with that assessment. Not great but good and worthy of a purchase unlike 2020.

With the exception of the song "Living proof", this album is like listening to James Taylor or Bruce Springsteen. Since the departure of Sambora, this band is just a shell of what it was. Jon doesn't sound good on this album and I think for true Bon Jovi fans, this will be a huge disappointment. The absence of songwriting by Sambora and David Bryan really shows and the modernization of this band is really exposed on this album. This album will resonate better with Country music fans and a whole different audience.

Not that this album will repeat it but Lost Highway sold a million copies in the US alone. Personally I thought it was a great record even thought it didn’t sound like Bon Jovi. So I don’t think the band has one specific sound. They have proven themselves to be versatile. That said, the album This House Is Not For Sale was amazing and didn’t miss a beat without Sambora. I don’t feel he had contributed much in his remaining years.

@@BrendonSnyder Since he left, the overall harmony in the vocal and the hooks have been less than melodic or catchy. Not to mention the guitar work has been subpar. What made Bon Jovi great was Jon's ability as a frontman and Richie's guitar playing and singing. That is long gone and it's painfully evident as their last good album for me was Keep the Faith. That's the Bon Jovi I want to hear not some James Taylor knock off music.
