I have the Exact same color ML3 and I love it. The neck is outstanding right up to the rolled edges and great fret work. The top looks as good if not better than the one on your video. All I had to do was put fresh strings on it out of the box and it just sang!
I picked up a Chapman ML1 in the same Abyss Purple/Blue Burst on eBay last year for £220... What a bargain, it has a beautifully finished rolled, Roasted maple neck, smooth as butter, which is an absolute dream to play on. Still not used to the reverse headstock, but it's a keeper, (especially at that money)
I watched this and then bought one omg it's a lovely sounding guitar or is it me.Anyway thanks for the heads up.Andertons have a few at sale prices at the moment Nov 12
I have one of the original ML1 Pro guitars with a neck through construction, same pickups I think, stainless steel frets, locking hipshot tuners, Graphtech nut, yeh a lot of guitar for the money, hard case and stolen from the previous keeper for £400 a few years back. If you are not a guitar snob they are a great option
Hi guys, Dan here. Thanks for doing the video - and really happy you took that punt, and like it. There are a couple of things "under the hood" as well, like orange drop capacitor, treble bleed, recessed plates, coil split, Graph Tech nut... hope you get the most out of it.
I've noticed in the last couple years especially, alot of people going back to the classic shapes and styles of electric guitar. Also seems to be a resurgence of pickups that focus on articulation and clarity, instead of the overwound super high output stuff that was all the rage for the last 10 years. Players may be coming to the realization that with modern amps and pedals you can get blaring over saturated tones from almost any pickup. Why limit yourself to only high output overdriven tones, with strictly "metal" type guitars and pickups, when you can have setups/guitars that can do almost everything in one package?
@@TheStudioRats You're prob right, I've almost pulled the rigger on one these several times... but for some reason that upside down headstock ruins the whole aesthetic for me.. definitely a case of 'if it aint broke, dont fix it'
I have a ML1 modern standard in the same abyss finish which is the same guitar essentially and it's really light, much lighter than my ML2 Legacy from 2015
Nice video. I don't really care for pickups with that much output, but they do have more clarity than your typical 15K hot-rod bridge pickup. As far as clean sounds go, I'm right there with you. My definition of a clean sound is one where there is very little "hair" on the sound when they strings are played softly, but plenty of saturation when you hit a big "rock" G chord.
Hi I’m Mike from Sebastian Flarda. And now, the moment you’ve been waiting for…. Da da dat ta da… welcome Rob Chapman to the Studio Rats! I’m not a fan Rob but…

You call bargain £320 for an Indonesian Chapman? Well, maybe post-covid where everything is f*ed up, but not that long ago (less than 2,5 years ago actually), I got a used Korean Schecter superstrat for £400. That guitar new when released by Schecter was over £800 (maybe £900, can't remember). That was a real bargain! In any case, congrats about your new gear. Hope you enjoy it to the max :) PS Nothing wrong with Indonesian guitars. Chapman though, I wasn't impressed by their standard models (like your ML3 Modern) when I tried some a couple of years ago. I don't care about brands (or the people associated with them like in this case), but I was genuinely not impressed.
Im not sure you have been 'mean' to "Chapman" at all.... but I think you would have found many in agreement if you had been. As for the guitars, they dont do it for me in any way... and the association with Rob Chapman is a real turn off. But I am glad the young players of today are able to access quality instruments at that price range... I would still rather see them with Jacksons, Charvels and Ibanez that they have 'modded' themselves.... But heyho Im old and have an Ibanez for the 'rage'. As long as your playing music you love....
I think (with respect) guitars today are all pretty damn good. The Harley Benton stuff 'Vintage' Chapman even Squier ect ect. You should have been around in the late 70s-early 80s when for the equivalent money or less they really was a wide selection of crap, proper crap unless you were lucky enough to come across the Jap lawsuit stuff... Which I fortunately did.
I own 3 Chapman guitars: Ghost fret, ML-2 and a ML-3. They are all great guitars.
Super great playing from an experienced ear! Great to hear all those British rock chops, thank you so much for a lovely video :-)
Cheers Rob.
I have an ml3 modern and love it. I pick it up more often than any of my other guitars and I have a few American made guitars sitting next to it.
Nice one.
Everytime I'm looking for guitar related stuff on RUclips I always end up on this channel. Incredible.
Cheers @Zut25
I was bidding on that guitar at GH that day, congrats on the win, it sounds ace
Sounds fantastic wow - great to see these more inexpensive guitars coming out and the quality from Indonesia seems to be pretty consistent

G.A.S. at its best. I live vicariously through you guys. Keep buying and demoing. 😊
Couldn’t agree more. I have a ML3 Traditional and it’s fantastic. Great video guys 🎸🎸
Cheers David
C'mon, you guys! Killer demo - it does sound big and articulate. 🤤 This has been my dream guitar.
It’s a cracking guitar Jeremy.
Those pickups are fantastic.
They're surprisingly great aren't they.
Great review guys and very honest ❤ rob and the team will be happy 😃
Cracking guitar!

I have a soft spot for the black back and headstock and natural maple binding. Definitely inspired by the old PRS's 00's-10
Owns a MIK ML-3 Pro Modern, love it!
I watched this and then bought one omg it's a lovely sounding guitar or is it me.Anyway thanks for the heads up.Andertons have a few at sale prices at the moment Nov 12
I own a Cap10 Seymour Duncan, ML3 Pro and ML1 Hybrid standard- all brilliant!

Try to get your hands on the Pegasus/Sentient Seymour Duncan humbucker set. Chapman use these on their higher priced model. Killer set.
I see Chapman has included this video in a promotional email….They must be fans of the Studio Rats.🎸🎸🎸
I’m looking forward to the Chapman Danish Pete tele getting released.
I thought it had been as a high end Uk build?
@@stephenrussell6074 not sure. I think it was shown off at namm this year.
id love you guys to do a review of the K-LINE Springfield,, im sure its right up your street..maybe ask kris or CODA music for a loner?
Doesn’t the ML-3 come with a coil-tap on the tone pot?
Ive learned something, everyday's a school day!. cheers

True.
Nice looking guitars and sound great for the price point.. however, my OCD wont let me come to terms with that 'out of bonk' headstock.....
Apart from tuning the wrong strings, I quite like it.
@@TheStudioRats You're prob right, I've almost pulled the rigger on one these several times... but for some reason that upside down headstock ruins the whole aesthetic for me.. definitely a case of 'if it aint broke, dont fix it'
For what it’s worth, I really like the aesthetics of right hand T-Style guitars with a reverse headstock ...
Did I detect a Cornell amp in your set up Paul?
I saw it too!
Yes we’ve got it in to try out for the studio rats custom amp.
Looks and sounds great. Shipping to the US is expensive tho. I'll stick with my Sire T7.
Scored one for about 350usd..good deal?
Dont see Chappers about much these days. That sounds sweet as a nut! Thanks for the demo.
Any time
Great video. Looking at buying one and was wondering how much it weighs? Is it on the heavier side?
I have a ML1 modern standard in the same abyss finish which is the same guitar essentially and it's really light, much lighter than my ML2 Legacy from 2015
Fantastic. Thanks very much for the info :) No problems with neck dives etc? Just want to make sure.
Almost sounds like you stoll a GM lick there at the end James.

I bet a bullet strat would sound good through your amp.
This guy loves high out put pups never met a gain knob he didn’t like. Edge of break up is a thing for a reason 🤔
